  1. My top choices: Pasta: Tinkyada Breads: Foods by George english muffins and Udi's bagels, whole grain bread, and hamburger buns Namaste Flour Blend and Pancake mixes - I've used as a substitute in standard baking recipes and people can't tell the difference
  2. My hair salon uses Neuma products: Open Original Shared Link Everything is vegan and gluten free. I was so excited last time I went - I had brought my own shampoo and we didn't even need to use it because they switched their entire line to Neuma. You just may need to find/work in a salon where you use gluten free products, or have some degree...
  3. Beef stew in the pressure cooker - yum! And it gave me lunch for the next two days. Followed by a scoop of Coconut Bliss dark chocolate. (and I wonder why I'm not losing weight)
  4. Follow up: After testing with just almonds and being fine, I tried the Blue Diamond Almond Milk last night and was fine. So it points to a cc issue with Pacific brand.
  5. I did not go. Thank you everyone for the advice and suggestions. The next time I visit NY I will try these places. This time around it was just too much for me to deal with, since I need to avoid dairy and soy as well as gluten. We had a wonderful time in Boston and took some day trips instead. I only risked a couple dinners out, and stayed healthy for the...
  6. Whoa, not quite 30% According to an article from celiac.com (linked below) actual celiac prevalence in Finnish adults is about 1.5-2.0%, with a diagnosed prevalence of .55% Finland
  7. I've used the Namaste flour blend and really liked it! I also use their pancake waffle mix to make yummy pancakes.
  8. I would love your thoughts about what I should do with this situation. My 20-something cousin from Spain is coming to visit for Thanksgiving. We have planned to go to New York City for a few days (Sun - Tue beforeThanksgiving). She has visited several times before and we've been to New York each time, so she's already seen it,but she is super excited...
  9. I don't like how the forums on this board don't have "stickies" at the top with the most commonly asked questions. This is something I see used in most other forums and is EXTREMELY helpful. It helps all users, especially new ones, quickly find information, and avoids a million people asking the same question over and over instead of assisting them in benefiting...
  10. Saw this thread on popcorn, and seeing as how thanksgiving is coming up I just couldn't resist posting this "recipe": Thought this sounded good! Here is a turkey recipe that also includes the use of popcorn as a stuffing ingredient-imagine that! When I found this recipe I thought it was perfect for people like me who are just not sure how to tell when...
  11. Yes, it sucks to tell people, but I can't agree with keeping it a secret. I try not to bring it up but food is a huge part of my office, and I could never just have stopped eating it all without explaining why - people would think I'm rude for not eating their food, nuts, or both. It involved a lot LESS explanation to simply give the real reason and move...

  13. "After the positive test two years earlier, she gave up pasta and bread for a month or so. But she didn
  14. I tested almond milk for the first time last night - just about an inch worth in a small glass (happened to be the Pacific brand). Well, I spent the night awake with SEVERE stomach pain and mental agitation. Still have pain now. I'm not jumping to conclusions, although I'm really glad to have found this thread. I'm also allergic to hazelnut so if they...
  15. I had a bad cold this weekend followed by a nasty cold sore. The night before last I accidentally got a tiny amount of cold sore ointment (Zovirax) in my mouth. It tastes terrible so it's easy to notice when that happens. I immediate spit it out. Yesterday morning I woke up with stomach pain, nausea, burping, and horrible taste in my mouth. It was definitely...
  16. Last time I checked Align contains dairy. I use a dairy, soy, gluten (obviously) free probiotic. Works for me.
  17. There are many things to discuss from this article, but I came away really upset by his response to the last few questions. He said that if you are "gluten sensitive" that you are not doing long-term damage by eating gluten, but rather, only suffering the immediate symptoms. To which I would ask him "how do you KNOW this"? In my case, and I've seen others...
  18. Quinoa is another option. You can buy quinoa flakes to take the place of morning cereal/oats and it is high in insoluble fiber (about 1:3 soluble:insoluble) from what I understand.
  19. To clarify, you're not referring to GoMacro that makes gluten free bars, are you? As far as I know, they ONLY make gluten free bars. Not sure what Macro is - I couldn't find their products or website when I searched for it.
  20. My dermatologist recommended Aquaphor. It's helped me a lot.
  21. Thanks! I'll try this.
  22. I miss my bechamel sauce, but I'm not sure what "milk" substitute to try. I can't do dairy, and DH is allergic to soy milk. I haven't found a gluten-free-oat milk (don't know if one exists). What other milk substitute would work?
  23. I also hate the stylus pen at the checkout card swipe. I have a small iPad stylus. I don't think it would work on the card swipes (different tip) but it made me think that I should try to find my own stylus and just use it whenever I'm at checkout.
  24. We have weekly lunch meetings where they order pizza in. I bring my own lunch, of course. I'm worried that I might be getting sick from the pizza "dust" in the room. I hate the fact that we have to eat at these meetings, but of course everyone else loves it (it's paid for by work). While I used to be the one who did most of the typing, now someone else...
