ARCHIVED Negative Biospy! So Confused Please Help
shadowicewolf replied to KristinIrwin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
On the reverse side, if you test negative to all of the other possibilities outside of celiac, than its likely that you do have it. -
ARCHIVED Slight Constant Pain In A Child
shadowicewolf replied to Sverkat's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't think its cancer. I do think, however, that she may be developing an intolerance to something she is eating. Keep a food dairy of everything that she eats. This will help connect the dots, if you will. Another thought is that she is somehow being CC'd at school. -

You chefs and your exquisite meals... Rice... my stomach no longer likes me at the moment. -
I'm going to start out by saying i have no issues with dairy (butter, cheese, milk or otherwise). I can drink 3 big glasses from a gallon and be fine a day. Well, somewhat fine, to much butter and cheese can cause my GERD to act up, but not to bad. I decided to pick up some milk at my school's local eatery (they come in little plastic containers, holding...

I could understand if, say, someone with diabetes wished to try it to see if it would help them control their blood sugar.

I'll have to look into it I am a sucker for the bone in ones though... its bad i know but i enjoy the skin and fat.... Bad bad bad for my GERD friendly diet. What i like to do is take a little honey and use it either as a glaze or dipping sauce. You can also add cinnamon to it if ya want. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Withdrawals? Day 4
shadowicewolf replied to Vixine's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No. Your body likes the gluten, and it wants more. Kinda think of it like how a little kid wants more sugary treats after only being allowed to have one. Logically, there shouldn't be a temper tantrum, but there ends up being one anyway. Thus, your body is throwing a temper tantrum right now because it does not have what it wants. Or at least thats how... -
ARCHIVED My Gluten Symptoms
shadowicewolf replied to norman516's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would say intolerance rather than allergy simply because an allergy requires a histamine reaction among other things (hives, swelling, etc). Seasonal allergies can occur all year round. Be it from dust, smoke, or even tree pollen. I would consider doing all of the testing required for celiac before removing gluten. Reason being because, what if...- 1 reply

My plan is to cook for myself, so getting meat, veggies, fruits and rice won't be an issue. I've got two years of japanese under my belt, so it wouldnt be too difficult.

ARCHIVED Why Can't I Lose Weight?
shadowicewolf replied to ButterflyChaser's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've lost quite a bit of weight and am still loosing i believe (or at the very least firming up and moving down pants sizes). I walk a lot (a little under 10 or so miles a week), I do not watch what i eat simply because what i do eat is on the healthy side and with all the walking i do, i think makes up for it. -
ARCHIVED Clarification Needed On Blood Testing
shadowicewolf replied to nosy parker's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, the TTG IGG is accurate. Endoscopys are easy. Nothin' to worry about there. What if the biopsy is negative? Regardless of the results, the next step would be to completely remove gluten from your diet. You don't need a doctor's permission to do this. -
ARCHIVED Advice For My 2 Year Old Son...
shadowicewolf replied to stephanie86's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It is very possible that he has NCGI (non-celiac gluten intolerance), which has no test outside of the elimination of gluten from diet. I have also heard that young children are quite difficult to test for it. Allergies don't always turn up on the skin. My tomato allergy for example causes me to have a harsh sunburn like feeling on my head, face,... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Reactionary Symptoms And Remedies
shadowicewolf replied to glutego's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't fast. Keep meals simple, the type of things you'd eat when you have the flu (bland, plain, easy on stomach). Heating pads can help with the soreness. -
Exactly! I plan to, one day, travel to Japan. I know that i'd probably have to either rent an apartment per area so i could cook, but that won't stop me

I'm thinking of picking up a small ham for myself for easter. Any suggestions on the brand? I can always make my own glaze, so thats no big deal. It sounds soooo good, but hopefully my stomach will let me have it (the grease gets to it). -
Also another idea is to strip you diet down to a few foods, then slowly (and by this i mean about once a week or so) add something back in. That way you can tell whether or not that specific food is bothering you. Do you take vitamin supplements? You may be vitamin deficient somewhere and that may be whats causing you to feel so bad.

ARCHIVED Clarification Needed On Blood Testing

why? he could just run the IGG versions instead. A few members on here had to do that test instead of the IGA ones. -

ARCHIVED Intolerances And Blood Sugar Issues , A Connection Beyond Diabetes?
shadowicewolf replied to cahill's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Rice is a carb. Carbs turn into sugar... thus can spike your blood sugar. No real big surprise there. Unless that peanut butter had sugar already added to it (some do), i don't see how it could. Its pretty much its own protein source. Have you tested regular peanuts as opposed to the butter? As for dairy, huh? It made it lower? If i'm understanding... -
Just a thought, its also possible that those nuts have been CC'd somehow.

ARCHIVED Peanut Butter
shadowicewolf replied to sdore's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yay But I wish they made it in those huge containers of peanut butter. You know, the ones that have massive lids. Its sometimes hard to find in the bigger jars.
