  1. I -had- severe GERD. At its hight i had a steady raw throat. It took almost a year to heal from that. Right now, it has died down a bit. What are you eating? I still cannot eat spicy, greasey, or rich foods without being "bit". Can't do caffine either. I take no meds because at one point, i was on some of the higher end ones and it was just making it...
  2. Why is it i can eat apples that are: green, just right, and cooked with no problems. But once it gets to the "meely" stage... its a gamble
  3. I'm hoping to do a soup. It snowed like two inches and it got me cold and wanting it.
  4. Yeah... the thing about gluten is that it is like a drug. It is addicting. It took me about two months to get to get over that. Stick to it.
  5. If you have pets, you could be getting CC'd from them.

    ARCHIVED Autism

    Its certianly possible.
  7. You'd be surprised about what might show up after you remove gluten. An example of this would be my tomato allergy. Didn't know i had it, certainly found out after i removed it. I unconsously started to shy away from it before (wanting it less and less) and, once I started going gluten free, it changed from that to an actual allergic reaction.
  8. Ulcers, in some causes, are caused by a certain type of bacteria (there is actually a document case where a scientist took a vile of said bacteria, downed it, and got an ulcer from it). What was he given to treat them with? He needs to stay on gluten for test results to come out accurately. Here is more on the bacteria i was talking about Open Original...
  9. Also, enviormental allergies can be a big cause.
  10. I get the bob's red mill white rice flour for....$2 something a package at my local store. I've used it for backing (spacifically the crumble on top of my coffee cake) and really haven't noticed any grittyness. It seemed really fine to me.
  11. If its a tomato based sauce, blend it up into really small pieces and stir it in. You can pass it off as parsley if asked I believe you can also do this with broccoli too. Mac and cheese i think. I forgot to lay something out and yeah...
  12. Are they easy to find in stores?
  13. Upper right area of the abdomen is where the gallbladder is located. Have you had it checked? Ask for a HIDA scan at your appointment to make sure its working right. I passed with flying colors on the bloodtests that were used to check it but when i got the HIDA it showed that it was only working at 5%. Just a thought
  14. Its only been a week sense the diet started. It takes time In some causes it can take up to two years before all damage is healed. Honestly, I think she might need to take a break from anything that requires a lot of exercise.
  15. Can you bring your own meal?
  16. Gluten withdrawl is fun is it not? I really don't have much to add. I cut dairy back some after my dx due to my throat (it was a raw mess). But i still ate cheese on occasion. Keep it in your diet for now. If you find, further down the road, that you still are having some issues, then cut it.
  17. There are a lot of things that can be made that are already gluten free (just thought i'd echo it). Being gluten-free isn't that bad at all, it just takes some time to learn how to do so. I spend less on my gluten-free stuff then i ever did when i was on a gluten diet. You do not need specialty items. For example, i use white corn tortillas for samwiches...
  18. Have you tried the pasta before? Just a thought before you go buy a bulk supply. Better to get a sample and have it not agree with ya then it is to buy bulk and then find out. I normally pick it up at my local health food store for about $3 a box. I spotted a box at walmart once. Stores like safeway have it too.
  19. For me it was. I knew what my normal temp usually ranged, so i kept an eye on it. It went away after i went gluten free.
  20. Another thought. I've heard that mineral oil is a good way to go if you've got C. Not sure if its gluten free or not.
  21. That sounds like an allergic reaction
  22. Stay on gluten until you get all of your testing done. I've heard of those with celiac being sucessful overseas. The one way would be to eat a whole foods diet, nothing processed. I think that could be the easiest route, as you can find meats, veggies, fruits (if they aren't sky high in price ) and rice (if you can handle it). Eating out would...
  23. Alright, the deal with Chex is that there are many out there with gluten issues that do just fine with it. However, those who do not probably have an issue with soy (which apperently some of the vitamins in it are sourced from) or to BHT (a chemical used to keep freshness). Both of these can cause gluten-like reactions. At any rate, i can no longer do...
  24. Exercise, oddly enough, helps a lot sometimes. Even if its just a bit more than you do normally. It helps "get things moving" if you will I would also stay away from anything that might make it worse. Do you drink milk? Eat a lot of starch? Those two can do it.
  25. I have GERD so i understand fully the heartburn thing. When mine would get bad enough that i couldn't eat, i would drink a lot of water. Also, if it is an issue at night, perhaps look into getting an incline pillow, it keeps your head upward while keeping acid down at night. I would get GERD attacks (acid reflux/heartburn) so bad that i would wake up at night...
