  1. From what I understand they are made in the same facility and in some cases on the same equipment. Years ago there were folks on this forum who said they got sick from eating them. However, they now test them and they are supposedly under 20PPM. There are quite a few folks here now who eat them with no problems. I've never had anything from Amy's...
  2. Hi and welcome! The first thing you should do is go to the coping section here and read the Newbie 101 thread pinned at the top. That'll help you with cross-contamination and lots of other stuff. Then read as many threads here as you can. There is a wealth of information to dig through. As for brands, well, we all have our favorites, but for bread...
  3. I've mentioned how happy I am that one of our grocery stores now has a gluten-free section. Well yesterday I found a new gluten-free item in the regular aisle. Ronzoni gluten-free pasta! It is made with white rice, brown rice, corn and quinoa. And right on the box it says, "Made in a dedicated gluten-free facility". The regular pasta was $1.89 a box....
  4. Great job team! Great job COACH!!!
  5. Black Hills Burger and Bun in Custer, S.D. (A half hour form me) has been rated best burger in the USA by both Tripadvisor and Travelocity. They grind their locally grown beef to order and make their own buns. I just found out they also make a gluten-free bun and have a dedicated fryer for french fries. A celiac friend eats there regularly and never gets...
  6. The ones I take are a little football shaped gel with liquird inside.
  7. Almost four years. By three and a half I had ditched my further intolerances but stiil had no energy. Just in the past few weeks I've been taking more vitamin D (went from 4000 IU's to 5000) and I also went from 3000mcg of B12 to 5000. That seems to be doing the trick. I've got so much more energy now that I cleaned my shop from top to bottom last week!
  8. One of the things that bothered me when I went gluten-free was that instead of "going" easily, which I did three times each morning, was that things became too solid. I often found myself constipated which seemed worse to me than the other way. I started eating nuts, rather large servings of them, every morning after my breakfast, and again in mid-afternoon...
  9. I'll check the other grocery store. The one I went to had only the store brand and Del Monte. I talked to an old guy yesterday and HE said he can't find decent canned pears anymore either.
  10. Yeah, I can get frozen blueberries but I've never seen frozen pears. Those are the only two fruits I would go out of my way for. Peaches are OK, and oranges are OK, but blueberries and pears are the ones I crave. And canned pears would be so convenient. I could keep some on the shelf here at work and some at home, just like I do with canned soup. This winter...
  11. I was HIGHLY intolerant to corn for a few years. I know a lot of folks here with soy intolerance (I used to have that too) complain that soy is in everything but soy is EASY compared to corn. For one thing, soy is one of the big eight so it will be labeled for, but corn is not so if it is used in processing they don't consider it an ingredient so it won't...
  12. Wasn't sure where to put this but here goes... For a long time I couldn't eat canned goods. Now I can. Here in my area it's almost impossible to get decent produce. The few times I've bought fresh pears they were rock hard and rotted before they ripened. So I have recently started buying canned fruit and I am running across the same problem!! So...
  13. I really like the idea. I wish all restaurants would adopt this. Now gluten is the only thing I can't have, but a year ago when corn and soy and almonds and blueberries were giving me fits, it would have come in handy. Of course it's a moot point because there is no Red Robin in my area.
  14. Are you sure she is completely gluten-free? Does she have a dedicated toaster? Do you still use the old wooden spoons? How about butter and mayo and the like? If a knife that touched regular bread dips into them they are contaminated. Go to the coping section and read the Newbie 101 thread for more places gluten can hide.
  15. A ziplock bag of nuts. Sometimes a Lara bar or two.
  16. And even if you don't have a food dehydrater you can dehydrate carrots in the oven. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Wow. Just wow. Have you contacted the guy since you got sick to let him know? Maybe if you inform him he'll at least post a disclaimer so others in the future won't get sick.
  18. I never heard of a gene for non-celiac gluten sensitivity. If possible could you check with your Mom and sister to find out what that is?
  19. Iodine will makethe rash worse. That means iodized salt, potatoes, egg yolks, lots of things. Read up about it in the DH section.
  20. If you like clam chowder try the Progresso "Rich and Hearty New England Clam Chowder" It says gluten-free on the label and it IS gluten-free. I eat a lot of it.
  21. Anything from Kraft foods or Con Agra will clearly state in the ingredients if a product contains any glute grains, plus they will tell you if a product is made on the same line or same facility as gluten products. Planter's nuts are from Kraft and I eat them all the time. Someone gave me some Fisher's nuts for Christmas and before I ate them I contacted...
  22. I'm assuming this advice from your doctors was recent? If so you haven't been off gluten long enough to see a change. I suggest you read first, the Newbie 101 thread in the coping section. Then go over to the DH section and read read read. You may think a gluten-free diet is a terrible prescription right now, but believe me, you don't want your DH to...
  23. Actually the regular gluten-free labeled foods are NOT tested, but they are supposed to be gluten-free anyway. I believe they only have to test if someone complains. The thing is, most companies want to preserve their reputation so they won't put gluten-free on the label unless they are reasonably sure the stuff would pass the test. It is because testing...
  24. OK, it won't be for dinner but my big meal is lunch - I just had some lasagna that a gluten-free friend sent over. Her whole house is gluten-free so I know it was safe, and WOW! Was it good! She used the tinkyada noodles and it had meat and two different cheeses and mushrooms and who knows what else in it. It was the first lasagna I've had in four years....

    ARCHIVED Cat Food

Hi Ginko. The other worry about gluten in cat food is they always groom themselves with their gluteny tongues right after eating. Then if you pet them and forget to wash your hands you might get glutened. I can't get gluten-free cat food where I live but I always wash my hands before popping anything in my mouth but I have a very affectionate cat so that...
