    ARCHIVED 6 Years

I had a lot of different symptoms but the one that made my life Hell was the insomnia. The D and the psoriasis weren't pleasant but getting a good night's sleep is one of the greatest blessings I could imagine.
  2. You don't owe anything to anyone but yourself. If people won't take you seriously, tell them you have celiac. Or tell them you are allergic to wheat. Tell them anything you have to. Tell them if you eat that thing you will be throwing it right back up and spending the rest of the evening in their bathroom. Whatever it takes.
  3. Cap, there are several threads here about Omission Beer. Do a search and you'll see that a bunch of people here tried it and got sick. And then there is this: Open Original Shared Link Don't take the chance. There are other gluten-free beers that taste better anyway.
  4. Nope. It was the Blue BUNNY All Natural Vanilla I've been eating for years. Actually I have been checking recalls.gov to see if anything else I've been eating has been recalled due to undeclared wheat. I'm really hoping I haven't developed a new intolerance. I thought things were quieting down and then last night it started getting worse again. Looks...
  5. If you have insurance it might be a good idea to get back on gluten so you can be tested. Celiac runs in families and with three kids, you might want to know for sure so you can get them tested too. If you just take the family gluten-free you won't have official diagnoses for them or you. That wouldn't matter so much except if anyone is hospitalized at some...
  6. I'm so sorry to hear this. You really are to young for osteo. I'm wondering if it's Lyme or maybe one of theother tick-borne diseases. Maybe you should see a doctor?
  7. There is a bakery in Rapid City that does that. They clean the heck out of the place and then do all the gluten-free baking on one day. I have eaten their bread and their pumpkin chocolate chip loaf and never got sick.
  8. Yeah but I thought I read that the tests for barley aren't very accurate.
  9. And Bend is such a beautiful place it would be worth the ride!
  10. Thanks again all you wonderful peeps! I have made a decision. I WILL sleep tonight!!!!! I will, I will, I will...
  11. Welcome tothe best celiac forum in the land. What you are going through right now is gluten withdrawal, a very real physical thing. You'll get headaches, mood swings, ravenous hunger, and a sort of dreamy, light headed feeling. It lasted two or three weeks for me. Then I started feeling better. In the coping section here, pinnned to the top is a...
  12. And just a FYI - Progresso has a gluten-free line of soups. I believe chicken and rice is one of them. They will be mixed in with all the other Progresso soups in your grocery store but will have gluten-free on the label. I get their Rich and Hearty New England Clam Chowder and it is really really good.
  13. And do read the newbie 101 thread in the coping section so you will know how to avoid cross-contamination - AND be able to explain it to those chefs.
  14. And maltodextrin is from corn. Even when I was corn intolerant I could eat it because there is no protein in it.
  15. And it was probably harvested on contaminated equipment and stored in contaminated grain bins. No thanks.
  16. Well, there hasn't been any more blood. My hands and feet are still a mess and the rest of it (including the insomnia which is the worst) is still going on. It'll take another week or so I think. I'm pretty sure it was CC in the ice cream. Although there are no gluten ingredients and I have eaten lots of it before, they do make cookies and cream in the...
  17. I'm doing OK, Designer. Suffering right now from a mystery glutening - only the second time I've been glutened since I started. I believe it was CC in some ice cream I ate. But yeah, I got corn back and soy and even blueberries (my favorite.) I hate seeing you consumed by worry. My Mom worried about just about everything and I think seeing that made...
  18. I wish I could pass along my "ostrich syndrome". It is my head in the sand way of dealing with things I have no control over. If I have something going on that would worry most people I just ignore it. I get involved in a good book or find other distractions. You could try that. Stay busy and when you're not busy either read or get into a good movie....
  19. Thanks everybody. I've never met any of you but I can honestly say you are some of the finest people in the world.
  20. Not without a lot of money I don't have right now. I looked up natural remedies for hypothyroid and they listed some stuff I should be eating and other things that I shouldn't. One thing I do know and it's kind of embarassing - it never occurred to me that I'm not getting any iodine. I don't use salt and I've been severely limiting potatoes. I hardly ever...
  21. No doctor. The only one I liked or could afford moved away. Does anybody know if thyroid problems can cause these types of symptoms? I ask because thyroid trouble is so common in celiacs and I've never been able to have mine checked. Other than that I can't help but think it's gluten because the symptoms are the same as I used to get.
  22. At this point it might not be glutenings, but simply the ups and downs of healing. Took me a LONG time before that stopped and I know it wasn't gluten because my whole house is gluten-free and I never ate anything I didn't cook myself. I think it was about that long into MY gluten-free life that I started developing (or noticing) other intolerances too...
  23. Hi everybody. Computer problems have kept me away for the past week or so. Got that solved but during that time something happened. I can't figure it out. I have not eaten anything different, yet I have all the signs of a glutening. My psoriasis is flaring and both my hands and feet feel like they're on fire. My ankles are swollen and I've been getting...
  24. No, you are not partially at fault. You are completely at fault. Sorry to sound harsh, and believe me, I'm not saying your boyfriend is right. He should be ashamed of himself for trying to tempt you into ruining your health. I would dump anyone who didn't care about me enough to want me to be healthy. BUT - unless he is holding you down and putting gluten...
