  1. I repeat, YOU are the one who claimed there could be 100 causes of abdominal pain such as you had. It astonishes me that you can insist that gluten CC is the only possible culprit. It also astonishes me that you have come onto this forum simply to argue with people for caring enough to make helpful and sensible suggestions. But if it DOES turn out to...
  2. Wow, Cycling Lady did not "diagnose" your pain as a gall bladder attack, she simply said it was something to think about. And let's face it, you have no proof at all that the Ortega product is what caused your abdominal pain. You said yourself that there are about 100 things that could cause it, so there is no way you can pin it on a product you ate once...
  3. And go to the Newbie 101 thread in the coping section to learn more.
  4. If it were me I would go strictly gluten-free and never look back. Definitely read the Newbie 101 thread aqs Raven mentioned, then come on back and ask lots of questions. We're here to help. As a matter of fact, read as many threads here as you can. There is a wealth of good info on this forum - so much so that many doctors send their patients here to learn...
  5. That is a great site. It helped me tremendously when I was corn intolerant. I too wondered if it had been just corn all along. (I don't have insurance so I never got tested.) But my Mom had celiac (diagnosed in the 80's) and based on that and my response to the gluten-free diet my doctor gave me a diagnosis. For the first three and a half years I was...
  6. Thanks Ruth. She was my best friend and I will miss her forever.
  7. But if you or your vet can't find it, honestly, just wash your hands every time before you put something in your mouth. You should be doing that anyway, A.) to avoid germs, and B.)to avoid gluten. Seriously. There are folks here who worry about friends coming over and putting their gluteny hands on the doorknob and other surfaces. If they just wash their...
  8. My vet told me my kitty should have both wet and dry food. The dry food is lower in calories and is good for their teeth. The canned food helps prevent constipation. What I used to do with my precious kitty was leave dry food in her dish for her to munch on whenever she wanted, and twice a day I gave her about a tablespoon of canned. It kept her healthy....
  9. I never switched over to gluten-free food for my precious kitty. I scooped her dried food instead of pouring so that cut down the dust. I just made it a point to wash my hands before I put anything in my mouth. That way even if I touched some of her shed hair, let alone her herself, I never got glutened. When I kissed her it was always on top of her head...
  10. Have you found a gluten-free cereal they can eat? If so you could make a rice krispy's treat type thing - you know - the one with marshmallow. If you don't want to use marshmallows or fluff you could use honey. If chocolate is OK you could get the enjoy life chocolate chips and put those in. I believe they are soy-free. Or carob chips?

Even if you don't want to fly with a cooler you can buy a cheap styrofoam cooler when you get where you're going. They're so cheap (under five bucks) you can leave it behind when you go home. And besides that, they really do keep your food colder than the expensive ones.
  12. Wow, Thanks Gemini! I don't know if I'm an old soul but more likely just OLD!

At first you should be sticking to whole foods (nothing processed) anyway. So if possible try to find a hotel with a kitchenette. Even if that is not possible, most rooms have microwaves and small fridges. You can get frozen gluten-free meals at a lot of grocery stores and just about all health food stores and cook them yourself. You can buy fruits and veggies...
  14. OK, I am 61 years old and I am here to give you relationship advice. A lot of times we (both men and women) fool ourselves into thinking we love someone when actually what we love is the way they make us feel. Sounds OK until you stop to think about it - REAL love has less to do with wanting the peson around because they make us feel good than with caring...
  15. Hey Raven? Thank you, and great big (((((HUGS)))))
  16. That's a great idea, Raven. I don't have time in the summer but once I start taking a day off a week in the winter I could do it. (Unless I break down and DO wind up gettng one.)
  17. I think it's different for everybody and different in each individual depending on the amount and type (barley or wheat) of gluten. It could well be another intolerance, in which case you will need to do an elimination diet. Or it could just be that you're not healed yet and something perfectly innocent set you off. It really stinks, I know.
  18. "I personally think that they will someday find a link between celiac and NCGS." I have absolutely no scientific evidence to back it up, but I agree with you.
  19. We had a bad thunderstorm last night and I got up to comfort her (she was so afraid of thunder) before I realized she was gone. And then like a fool I felt bad because she was outside in the ground and I couldn't hold her. Anyway, I packed up the four cans of catfood and half a bag of dried food and gave it to my neighbor who has three kitties and...
  20. You know, it's funny how folks on an internet chat board can become such good friends. So you folks are the first ones I've told this to. My kitty died a couple of hours ago. Yes, her name was Grommit. She was 16 years old and moved out here to South Dakota with me 11 years ago. She's been fading the past few months. Lost weight and all. She was still...
  21. I think it probably comes back to the fact that gluten in barley for some reason, doesn't show up as accurately on the tests as gluten from wheat.
  22. The Ronzoni pasta I get is white rice, brown rice, corn and quinoa. It is made in Italy. Of course that's not saying they don't import the rice used to make it from America though. I never even thought about it.
  23. Maybe you could just back off on the rice in their diets? Potatoes, sweet potatoes, gluten-free pasta, and even salad, can all replace rice. I DO know that instant rice is better than long cooking rice as far as the arsenic goes, and that white rice is better than brown. Also that rice grown in California is better than rice grown in the American south.
  24. They did that to my Mom when she was diagnosed back in the 80's. You would THINK now that celiac is much more widely recognized that people would have a clue, but the gluten-free fad has hurt us in that way. I don't have any answers for you (at least answers that can be printed on a family friendly forum), but at least I can tell you that WE all understand...
