  1. No Quaker oats. If you really want oats you need to go to a health food store and find some that say certified gluten-free. But really, it would be best at first if you didn't eat oats at all. Keep you diet simple at first.
  2. Oats, unless they are certified gluten-free, are not good. Go back to that Newbie thread and read it again. Take notes. Seriously, we remember and process information much better when we write it down.
  3. Um, no. It doesn't have to say gluten-free. You have to read the ingredients. If you buy a package of pork chops it doesn't say gluten-free, but it is. If you buy a head of cauliflower it doesn't say gluten-free, but it is. If you buy products that have more than one ingredient, just read the label. If you don't see wheat, rye, or barley, or malt, it is most...
  4. Soy doesn't have gluten and many folks here can eat it with no problems. If you are in the US or Canada, if an item has wheat in it it MUST be labeled as such. Rye, well, that's pretty much only in rye bread or crackers. Barley is the only one you have to worry about being "hidden", although since barley is expensive most companies like to let folks know...
  5. But you ARE eating gluten! Oreos, doughnuts, whole wheat buns. You need to go COMPLETELY gluten-free, not just halfheartedly. You can't cheat at all. As I said before, get us the test results so we can help you figure out what they mean, and read that Newby 101 thread in the coping section. Whether you have celiac or gluten intolerance, you can do so much...
  6. I AM lucky that I get symptoms. It would be terrible to never have any indications I had been glutened. Now THAT could lead to extreme paranoia! I also wonder if my hyperactive immune system is why I never catch colds. Between the celiac, the psoriasis, and the lupus it seems my immune system is in constant attack mode. Too bad it is my own body it's attacking...
  7. I know people touch their faces mindlessly. I saw the same study. But I also know that while I am eating I do not touch my face mindlessly because I'm paranoid. That's why I wash my hands every single time I plan on eating anything. You see, I've only been glutened twice in the past four-plus years. The last time (in June), it was from some ice cream I...
  8. For me it's a matter of cost and availability, not to mention I LIKE the makeup I use. There is only one store in my town that sells makeup. They happen to have a relatively (around $6) inexpensive brand that I really really like. If I wanted gluten-free makeup I would have to do a 120 mile round trip to get it or else borrow someone's credit card (I've never...
  9. Thanks. And I just noticed that any thread with posts I haven't read are now in bold type.
  10. The skin? Not sure what that means. I am a dinosaur. But I did just notice that even though there is a star on threads I have posted to, all of them are grey instead of a different color indicating there were new posts I hadn't read yet on those threads.
  11. There really is no way to test for gluten intolerance. If your Mom says your tests came back positive it is likely that those tests were for celiac. See if you can get copies of your test results and post them here. We can help you sort it out. If you DO have celiac you need to be really strict with your diet. Even if it is not celiac but gluten intolerance...
  12. I know the foundation I use has gluten. I am just very careful not to get it on my lips. If I DO get it on them I wipe with a tissue, then put a little soap and water on another tissue and carefully clean my lips. Hardly ever happens though. I have a magnifying mirror and just slow down and be extra careful when I'm around my mouth. And then for the most...
  13. Oh, OK. I COULD be that you are still not healed. Some of us take a long time to heal - it took me 3 and a half years. But to be honest, it does sound like there is something else going on. It's good that you saw your OBGYN for it. Did he have ANY ideas of what else it might be? It sounds to me like it might be an ovarian cyst. Did he do an ultrasound?
  14. I'm a bit confused. You said you RECENTLY found out you are gluten intolerant, but you say you went gluten-free a year ago. Then you said you haven't had any pain or bloating since going gluten-free a year ago, but in the next sentence you say you have cramps 24/7. Are you saying you've had these pains since you got glutened last week?
  15. Ah but that's the beauty of having celiac! You ARE the one in control of your diet, and therefore of your health. If you had cancer or even a virus, you would not be in control and even your doctor might not be in control. With celiac, if we are careful we can control every thing that goes in our mouths and if we do that we are completely in charge of our...
  16. That was when I posted earlier this morning. The last post I made (above) it only took five clicks. I've tried clicking quickly and I've tried clicking slowly. Doesn't make any difference - I still have to click 5 times. It's no biggie, but thought you ought to know.
  17. I see it if I click off and then try to click right back on. The reason I click off by accident is when I read a post, I have to click "back" five or six times before it'll go back to the original page. After I posted this morning I clicked back at least 20 times and finally gave up and closed the whole program.
  18. You have celiac. You have the diagnoses of two very good doctors. You don't need any more proof. If you can learn to accept that, everyone else can learn to too. Now you need to read and re-read the Newbie 101 thread and get good at the diet so no more accidents happen. And pretty soon you will start feeling much better.
  19. The best source of celiac and gluten-free diet information is the University of Chicago Celiac Center, and this forum. That's no joke - several of our members were referred to this site by their doctors. Start with the Newbie 101 thread in the coping section here. Then read as many threads as you can. And of course, ask us lots of questions. We're here to...
  20. It could be anything. At one month in it isn't unusual to have pain or loose stools for no reason at all. A food could be fine for several meals and then out of the blue for no good reason, it (or something) will make you sick. For example, I could not tolerate sweet potatoes for several months. I switched to organic for a while and those were OK. And it...
  21. OK, with Microsoft everything is as it should be. The blue part with our log in name and notifications and mail is almost two inches, right at the top. Below that is the grey part, almost an inch, with the buttons for forum, blogs, chat, etc.
  22. Hmm...now that you mention it...When I first clicked on I couldn't get to New Content because I was no longer logged in. I had to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to find a log in button. I have that same grey bar across the top but there is nothing showing on the blue part behind it like there is on yours. I have no place for notifications or...
  23. OK, Squirmingitch just helped me find a way to clear my cookies and cache. NOTHING on Windows 10 is where it used to be. I couldn't even find "history" until I clicked a bunch of other buttons. And I still can't find anyplace on mail for an address book or contacts. The help page is useless. A ton of people on there have given up and gone back to Windows...
  24. If you ate three rolls it would add up to 21 parts per THIRTY million. That still comes to 7 PPM.
  25. Hi folks! I still can't get on using Firefox but I can get on through Internet Explorer. On Firefox I get that "406 Not Acceptable" no matter what I do. It says "Click here to return to home page" but when I do nothing happens. It's already ON the home page when I get that message and it won't let me open any of the tabs.
