  1. I switched to an Enzymedica brand called Digest. I was having problems with some of the herbs in the other brands I was using. On the label it says, "Contains NO: dairy, preservatives, salt, sucrose, soy, wheat, yeast, nuts, gluten, artificial colors or flavors." It also says "ABSOLUTELY NO FILLERS ADDED." It contains 9 different enzymes and 2 pro-biotics...
  2. Karen you are so funny! My kids love Airheads. They are always hunting for packs with new flavors. We have never had a problem with them (no reactions) and since the company says they are gluten-free, we consider them gluten-free.

    ARCHIVED Quote Of The Day

Here are a few of the things some of the doctors have said to me over the years: "You have IBS and there is no treatment for that (18 years ago). You just need to learn to live with it." Even when if feels like I am slowly dying! "You just have IBS, you need more fiber. Wheat Bran is good." (Yeah right.) "You can't possibly have Celiac...
  4. This won't help you for dinner (especially 4 days ago), but my favorite is Dakota Lakes seasoning. It says gluten free right on the label and is really good on just about anything...I first bought it at the Gluten Free Pantry and now I order direct from the company. They do sell a wheat version so make sure you buy the gluten free version if you do decide...
  5. In our house we use daily or often these allergy meds: Claritin (tablets and Redi-tabs) Flonase (nasal spray) Patanol (eye drops) Benadryl (tablets and liquid) For cold/flu symptoms we also use Dimetapp liquid. I used to use Zyrtec for my seasonal allergies, until my insurance stopped paying and I refused to pay $75 out of pocket each month!...
  6. We went to a bunch of Asian markets, and most left a lot to be desired. The Filippino stores had white rice and rice noodles, those were the ONLY gluten-free items in the store. Filippino's are big on wheat... Another one we went to was mostly chinese stuff and they had maybe a half dozen gluten-free items that I found. I tried 6 stores in Fresno and ...
  7. Who here thinks these are the Meltaways or not? Those are the only children's chewables Tylenol currently has on the market, only last month they said they still haven't tested them for gluten! What is taking them so long, they haven't had any other children's chewables available for at least a year or two. I might have to call that number again and...
  8. I use the Benadryl tablets fairly often, my son uses them too. We have never had any problems with them. I've never used the gelcaps. Do they work faster? Or just a different form for people who don't like tablets? Oh and that is a pretty typical response from a drug company.
  9. My new favorite is this coffee that my pastor brought back for me from a mission trip to Brazil. I forget the name, something about Three Hearts, had a yellow package...I am going to have to ask his son (who is in Brazil for at least 1 year) to send me some when I run out! The label is in Portugese (sp?) but "Nao Contem Gluten" on the label was pretty clear...
  10. Hi Meredith, You have the same gene combo that both my daughter and I have, DQ2 (0201) & DQ3 (0301). Yes, that is one Celiac gene and one gluten intolerance gene. That means that both of your parents have at least a gluten intolerance, and at least one of them has a Celiac gene...
  11. We use the White Sandwich bread for sandwiches, french toast, grilled cheese, etc. We also LOVE the english muffins. I guess I am going to have to try the Italian White Tapioca bread, it is getting such good reiviews here... we also get the pizza crust, chocolate dipped and cinnamon sugar donuts, bagels, sunflower flaxseed bread, cheese tapioca rice bread...
  12. I don't know about the seasoning for the fries, other than there was something questionable in them and Red Robin said not to use it...it might be okay, but you would need to check. I will double check on the fryer next time we eat there. I did ask, but did not speak to the manager. I didn't actually go into the kitchen to check either, but I do know...
  13. I would say that you would need to check with each location to verify the dedicated fryer issue. Our local Red Robin has a dedicated fryer. We were told to ask for the steak fries with "no seasonings" though. I think the seasonings are sprinkled on after they are fried. I was very pleased with our local Red Robin. My oldest son was one of the top...
  14. That is possible, too. When I had my allergy testing done as an adult they said that I was severely allergic to Alfalfa, Dust Mites and something else that always slips my mind and mildly allergic to EVERYTHING ELSE! So ragweed would be on that list...
  15. Just thought I'd answer the second part of the question... Yes, your symptoms do sound typical of Celiac Disease. Many people here would definitely say they had those same symptoms and many others. One research study showed there were over 250 symptoms and related disorders associated with Celiac Disease. If we all could actually see that list I am...
  16. Oberto is gluten free. But only the flavors that don't list soy sauce or wheat on the labels. Oberto also makes the Pacific Gold brand that they sell at Costco and it is gluten free and half the price! The peppered and regular are the only two we buy of these brands. Pemmican makes some, but the texture is different and my kids don't like it. For...
  17. Here is what this website has to say about what causes them: Open Original Shared Link What causes gallstones? Cholesterol Stones Scientists believe cholesterol stones form when bile contains too much cholesterol, too much bilirubin, or not enough bile salts, or when the gallbladder does not empty as it should for some other reason. Pigment...
  18. Vincent, I agree. My symptoms are quite severe with an even tiny (think microscopic) amount of gluten. The thought of eating something with gluten ON PURPOSE would never even cross my mind. With every accidental ingestion I am sick for weeks. So not only do I not cheat, but I am extremely careful not to have too many accidents either. For someone who...
  19. I had my gallbladder removed about 6 years ago. I haven't missed it! I had nausea ALL the time. I thought it was diet related and did everything I could do (except cut gluten, I didn't know that part yet ), then I thought it was pregnancy related (when I had my 3rd), but months after my daughter was born I still had horrible nausea everyday with occasional...
  20. I got headaches when I would drink Chamomile tea, too. But I always thought it was the honey that I was sweetening it with that was giving me the headache. I really don't like the taste of Chamomile, so I stopped drinking that, but I also avoid honey until I confirm wheather or not that was the cause of the headaches... I don't drink Tetley, I am a Celestial...
  21. I'm in Fresno County about an hour out of Fresno, but I come to Fresno a lot for shopping/doctor appointments, etc. Have you been to the new PF Changs yet! It is awesome. They have a gluten free menu and ALL the staff knows about gluten free! The first time I had chinese food in over 2 years. We also eat at Mimi's Cafe, In-n-Out, El Pollo Loco...
  22. There are a fair number of Gerber baby foods that are gluten-free. I know some of the toddler ones were also, obviously not the ones with noodles. But there are things you can still give him. Are you against baking your own teething biscuits? Because there are gluten-free recipes for those. You could probably bake them in bulk and not have to do it as...
  23. That's what I thought. I need soy free, too. The cookbook I mentioned above is really good. It has a code for if the recipe is: CF=Corn free EF=Egg free FF=Fruit free SF=Soy free SGF=Sugar free TF=Tomato free YF=Yeast free So a recipe would read like this: You get the picture...very easy to work with. I haven't tried ALL the recipes...
  24. Does sf mean soy free or sugar free? There are people who do both on the site. I really like a cookbook I have that is called The AiA Gluten & Dairy Free Cookbook compiled by Marilyn Le Breton. It lists all the other allergens each recipes has and also has a list of substitutes you can use to alter the recipes to fit your needs. But ALL the...
  25. Hi Eric, I know it is hard to think about being happy with positive results, but I know exactly how you feel. I went with Enterolab also, but I had already gone to 3 GI docs, and countless other doctors in my life. I already KNEW that gluten was my problem, but I needed confirmation. I also needed my kids tested and they were not sick enough for doctors...
