I am going to Disneyland next month and have been working on the whole meal thing in and around the park. You can still eat at any of the resort hotel restaurants even if you don't stay at the hotels. If you want to eat there you can call the following number:

ARCHIVED gluten-free Multivitamin?
gf4life replied to TygerCubs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
GNC has quite a few gluten-free multi-vitamins, I used to take the Women's Ultra-Mega, but I have trouble breaking down the big tablet. Now I take one from Whole Foods though made by TWINLAB called Daily One Caps with Iron. They are powder in a gelatin capsule and I can digest them much easier. -
His name is Wilson. I can't figure out why they are even friends, except for maybe Wilson likes to be pushed around...House is always testing to see how far he can push Wilson's buttons. Pretty darn far is all I can say. I love watching House, it is one of the only shows that I try to watch every week. For me it is more about the relationship dynamics...

ARCHIVED Why Did I Pay For A Gene Test?
gf4life replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I found it very useful to know the genes we have. My daughter and I both have DQ2 and DQ7 (when I was first tested they were still calling it DQ3, subset 7, but have since started calling it DQ7 just like DQ8 is actually DQ3 subset 8, yet they call it DQ8...), andmy oldest boy has 2 copies of DQ7, my younger boy has DQ1 & DQ7. So by default my husband... -

ARCHIVED Disneyland Caters To Gluten Intolerance
gf4life replied to Looking for answers's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
How do I get this guide BEFORE I get to Disneyland? We are going on March 23rd. I am going to try to find the right phone number to call, but I would like to have everything in hand before I get there. I printed out the list Looking For Answers posted, and I know that will be helpful. Also we will be staying at the Grand Californian (Thank God... -
ARCHIVED "house" Humour Of The Day!
gf4life replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Sorry. Next time I won't tell...I didn't even think about Tivo. I don't even have cable! I heard a comercial the other day advertising a satelite dish that said"if you have cable, your are in the dark ages". My husband and I laughed and said we are in the pre-historic age! We use an antenna... -
ARCHIVED Weight Loss Suppourt Thread (shannonl) And Any Others Who Want To Join
gf4life replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I liked the link to www.freedieting.com. The calorie counter there said I need to eat about 1700 calories to maintain my current weight of 137, about 1400 to lose fat, and about 1100 to lose extreme fat. I usually eat between 1200-1400 calories a day with a break down of 40% carbs, 35% protein and 25% healthy fats. My BMR that I calculated on www.mycaloriecounter... -
My comfort food was always toast or english muffins. And when I went to the GI and told her I thought I might have Celiac Disease, she told me I didn't, it was IBS and I needed to increase my fiber intake preferably in the form of All Bran wheat cereal! Yeah right!

ARCHIVED "house" Humour Of The Day!
gf4life replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
The Celiac episode on house wasn't like a normal celiac diagnosis. It was about this mom who goes psycho and kills her newborn, and it ends up it was because of the Celiac and the evil gluten made her do it! That was hard for us to swallow. In the end the lady refused to go on the gluten free diet because she wanted to die, and I think at that point she... -
ARCHIVED Casein Free Diet--is Whey Protein Ok?
gf4life replied to kathy2005's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Jay Robb recently changed their formula and now the chocolate has stevia in it too. I am bummed. I had to go find me another brand of protein to have for breakfast... But it shoudl taste sweeter now for those of you who can have stevia, and they do list the cocoa powder on the ingredients now. -
ARCHIVED Isagenix Weight Management Program
gf4life replied to gf4life's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Okay, I am really bummed here. I went online to order some more Jay Robb Egg White Protien powder yesterday, an I usually get the chocolate. Well I usually order from Lame Advertisement when my husband is ordering his supplements, but this time I went directly to the Jay Robb site. When I got to the page with the chocolate protien powder, I found out that... -
ARCHIVED Isagenix Weight Management Program
gf4life replied to gf4life's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Okay, I did some calculations and I was wrong. I spend about $80 a month, not $60. I still don't think that costs too much. I feel great, and look great. I spent more at the beginnning, when I was doing a cleanse day once a week, but still only about $30 more. Other people I know spend more than that on fitness center membership fees, and other diet... -
ARCHIVED "house" Humour Of The Day!
gf4life replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Okay, I had to laugh. Now, I know Lupus is a serious disease, and I have some good friends who have it, but I never noticed how often they bring it up on House. I watch it every week and still never noticed... I couldn't believe last night's episode, it was a toothpick!! -
ARCHIVED gluten-free 7th Graders 2day Trip To Boston. School May Not Let Me Chaperone!
gf4life replied to emtek5's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My oldest was the first to go on an overnight trip with school, but fortunately he had 2 1/2 years of experience with eating gluten free before he went on a week-long (M-F) science camp with school in 6th grade. I was told by the school nurse when I met with her regarding his dietary issues and camp, that I could "shadow" him and go on the trip too. I didn... -
ARCHIVED Isagenix Weight Management Program
gf4life replied to gf4life's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you. I am very happy with my success. I do eat real food though. For lunch, snack and dinner. I only have a shake at breakfast, which is better than no breakfast. I used to skip breakfast because I am not really hungry when I get up and mornings around my house are nuts. I would find that I wouldn't eat until around 10 or 11 am and by then it... -
ARCHIVED Scared About Miscarriages Due To Celiac
gf4life replied to Nicole2's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Once you are gluten free for a while and your body heals, then the risk of miscarriage should be about the same as for other women without Celiac. Being an undiagnosed Celiac who is eating gluten is what causes the increased risk of miscarriage. I agree with waiting at least 6 months on the gluten-free diet before trying to get pregnant. That would increase... -
ARCHIVED Eye Tic?
gf4life replied to eleep's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I must be wierd. My twitch is always in my right eye. I don't know if mine is directly gluten related, or due to a deficiency of something (still somewhat gluten related). I had the twich after going gluten free, but I believe it was due to calcium deficiency. I took calcium supplements for a long time and then seemed to be fine without the supplements... -
ARCHIVED Funfetti Cake? Cream Of Mushroom Soup?
gf4life replied to AllysonBrightMeyer's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Almost all Wilton candy sprinkles are gluten-free. Also the same with the Cake-Mate brand found in most stores. We use a ton of sprinkles at my house and the only things that I have found to have gluten in them are the edible shapes "pictures" of Barbie, Scooby-doo, Looney Tunes, etc. that either go directly on the cake or have a tab that can stick into... -
ARCHIVED Isagenix Weight Management Program
gf4life replied to gf4life's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just posting my results of the last few weeks. I have now lost 35 pounds!! I weight 137 and according to the Isagenix BMI calculations and weight status chart I am no longer considered "overweight". I am at the high end of "normal" at 24.9 BMI and still have a bit mor to lose to look my best, but I feel so good! I look great and am still losing.... -

ARCHIVED Best Gluten Free Food
gf4life replied to lapetit8's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Man, I'm like a walking add for Kinnikinnick! We love their products and always have a freezer stocked with breads, pizza crust, bagels, english muffins, sometimes donuts, and a shelf full of bread and bun mix, angel food cake mix, and K-inni-Toos cookies (chocolate and vanilla)! *Best Bread = Kinnikinnick White Sandwich bread (and a lot of their other... -
ARCHIVED Blood Type Diet Could Improve Health
gf4life replied to Candy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Candy, Pure chocolate does not contain gluten, but not all chocolate bars, or candies are gluten free. Many contain gluten ingredients (especially ones with rice crisps in them) and others come in contact with gluten in the processing, so please be careful with whatever chocolates you are eating. I was also commenting on how someone said there is a... -
ARCHIVED Eye Aches Related To Gluten?
gf4life replied to CMCM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So has he only had the gene test? Has he been tested for Celiac/gluten intolerance? Is he gluten free? (Sorry about all the questions. ) If he is gluten intolerant or Celiac and needs the diet, then that would explain why he is still having the problems so badly. The twitching could be caused by lack of calcium. If he isn't absorbing properly... -
ARCHIVED Eye Aches Related To Gluten?
gf4life replied to CMCM's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have this and the eye doctor said there was a name for this conditon. I forget what it is called though. Has anyone had their night blindness/sensitivity to light improve on the gluten-free diet? Mine hasn't really improved that much, but I don't get the migraines quite so fast with the flashing lights anymore. I will still get one if I don't avoid...
