Don't forget Gluten Induced Enteropathy. LOL -Laurie -
I just got back from Manna Mills and they are fantastic! Today was the gluten free samples day. It had the biggest selection of gluten free food I have seen, other than Lingonberries. They had almost everything I needed (or wanted LOL). They had the glutino's (or is it glutano's) pretzels, the kinnicinick doughnuts, graham cracker crumbs for cheese cake...

ARCHIVED Dental Problems
Generic replied to Haleigh's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have lost most of my teeth due to malabnsorption problems from the celiac. My teeth literally crumble. When I was diagnosed 19 years ago they said I was deficent in vitamin A and D. I was told you need those vitamins to mantain the enamel on your teeth. I may have been deficent in others I'm not sure what all they checked back then. -Laurie -

Generic replied to kimber's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
LOL! Every time I have tried amaranth anything it tastes like how mildew smells to me. My mom also thought the same. No one else would even try it. We tried several different brands and batches of flour thinking we had gotten a bad batch since so many people love it. But it all tated like mildew. -Laurie -
Thank you for the info! -Laurie

ARCHIVED Extreme Reaction To Gluten
Generic replied to BarbaraC's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I used to get that way from being glutened as well (no blue lips though). I would have to go to the ER to get a IV from severe dehydration. It kept getting worse as time went by. I would be delerious within an hour. Getting an IV was the only thing that would stop the vomitting, oddly enough. It was like my body didn't know when to stop. I was able to... -

They have a ton of different options for gluten free bread/mixes. website is www.lingonberriesmarket.com Sorry I don't know how to hyper link, (just copy and paste). For the record, I also have eaten turkey that was stuffed. I only eat the top outer layers as well and have NEVER had a problem. It's a personal choice. Of course I prefer it to not be stuffed, so I can eat as much as I want. I have been gluten free for 19 years now and I am hyper sensitive to gluten. The longer you are gluten free the more sensitive...

ARCHIVED Can Gluten Really "live" In Plastic Dishes Even When Washed?
Generic replied to CantEvenEatRice's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My daughter claimed I was paranoid, that is until she started getting sick too. She now is more "paranoid" than me and hasn't even seen the GI Dr. yet too get a diagnosis. Funny how people change their minds. -
ARCHIVED Celiacs Disease And Schools
Generic replied to SoulKitten's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
When I was in 7th grade I actually had to go to saturday school for punishment of missing so much school. They then finally expelled me for missing so many days. By the time my mom got an official diagnosis, they were super appolgetic. They then started a home tutoring program for me. But it was too late into the year to make a difference, I still had to... -
ARCHIVED Need A Yummy Finger Food
Generic replied to olalisa's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I also make a water chestnut bacon wrap. But I coat/dip the bacon in white sugar. Then wrap the bacon around the chestnuts, and stab with a tooth pick. Bake at 400 until golden brown. Approximatley 30-40 minutes. check after about 20 minutes, depending on the thickness of the bacon, they might be done. They always get gobbled up, so you might want to make... -
ARCHIVED I'm 16 And Have Celiacs
Generic replied to ~~~AnnaBelle~~~'s topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It will get easier with time, I promise. I was diagnosed when I was 13 I thought my world was going to end! I have now been on a gluten free diet for 18 years and can tell you in my sleep what I can eat and what I can't. When I was diagnosed it was considered extremely rare and there was only the energy brand bread available and it was horrible. Times sure... -
ARCHIVED Finger Food For Baby?
Generic replied to hannahsue01's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
if she isn't lactose intolerant, you could feed her grated cheese. You could also make silver dollar sized gluten free pancakes. It's been a long time since I have been around a littel one, so that is all I can think of for now. -
ARCHIVED Celiacs Disease And Schools
Generic replied to SoulKitten's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm currently trying to get my daughter diagnosed, finally got a referal to the G.I. and a referal to the dermatologist (think she may have DH too). She has no classic symptoms other than she gets some D. and they can't tell me what the rash is. It has been nothing but an up hill battle with the DR. Never mind that I have celiac and was diagnosed 18 years... -
ARCHIVED I Was Bitten By A Stray Kitten...
Generic replied to Lauren M's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Not to mention you can get cat scratch fever (the antibiotics will take care of it). My dad got bit by our family cat once, and got cat scratch fever. He went to the Dr. after his arm swelled up clear up to his elbow. (he was bit on his finger). The Dr. said cat scratch fever is related to the bubonic plague. YIKES! -
My dad recently had some blood work done and my mom asked me to do some research for her. He has high folate, high MVC and high "Polys". I found the first 2 but can't find any thing about the POLYS. I am 100% positive he has celiac and he refuses to admit it or even ask his dr about it. My great grandmother was diagnosed after I was when she was 82, his...

I don't have any advice about a dr. but just wanted to make sure you know about the gluten freee store in Vancouver. It's called lingonberries. I wish I lived down South, (I live in Everett). I need to take another roadtrip down there soon...LOL I figure you can at least find wheat free treats for your little one. Ice cream cones, licorice, cookies, etc... -

ARCHIVED Just Got My Ener G Order
Generic replied to jennyj's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree the cinnamon crackers are ok, I don't think they were worth the $6.50 I payed for them. They reminded me of corn tortillas that have been fried in oil and covered in cinnamon and sugar, but are slightly stale. -
ARCHIVED My Unusual Symptoms
Generic replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Aside form the panic attacks (I have had them as well) it sounds like the numbing/ tingleing, lack of being able to relax, sounds like nerve damage to me. I'm not a dr. by any means, but I have also experienced those same symptoms. My dr. told me the insulation (mylan sheathes SP?) on my nerves is damaged due to the celiac. As for the panic attacks, maybe... -
I was just at the Puyallup fair yesterday! I have been gluten free for 18 years and have always missed the scones. Funny thing, my sister asked me to pick her up one and I said no, I wasn't going to stand in line for 30 minuters for something I couldn't eat! LOL Thanks a million!!!! Can't wait to give it a try.....
