    ARCHIVED Hello

I'm in Everett and we have 3 celiacs including myself in this house. I'm not sure if you know, but there is a bakery that creates gluten free cakes etc. (the flying apron) and a completely gluten free restauraunt (the da vinci cafe) both in Seattle. They are worth checking out! There is also a gluten free store in Vancouver Wa now. (Lingonberries market...
  2. I know the feeling, I had a surgery July 05. The nurse who checked me in also had celiac. So as a precaution she put the no gluten /wheat allergy band on me. In the recovery room another nurse tried to force me to eat saltines! I was trying to explain I couldn't eat it (was still heavilly sedated). Luckily about that time the nurse who had celiac intreviened...
  3. It was several months before I started really noticing anything. I figured it couldn't hurt to give it a shot...I'm glad I did!
  4. It has helped me so much! My immune system is 300% better. My body seems to function better in general. My accupuncturist also worked on my reactions if I accidently got glutened. Before I would end up in the E.R., now I just get the blowouts. That's alot better if you ask me!
  5. I have had a fry daddy for years. It recently started peeling so I am looking for a new one. I noticed there was some nice bigger models (not sure of the brand, I was looking at Wal-mart). I will probavly be getting a larger one. I have found that it is nice to have a basket that goes in it and the larger size would be much easier to deal with. I like to...
  6. I had the bondo thing done first and it didnt adhere well. My dentist had to do a root canal and filled it in. So he said a few years down the road I would have to crown it. But in the mean time I don't have the extra cash to do a crown so....at least he was understanding.
  7. I just baked some pamela's brownies about an hour ago. I had to cook them an extra 15 minutes beyond the recomended 18-20 minutes. I know you can't use the tooth pick test, but in the past I had them be really raw still in the middle. So with that in mind, I stabbed a fork in and they were still raw in the center. (it says on the package toothpick should...
  8. My biopsy was "inconclusive". that was 18 years ago. The dr. suggested I try the diet anyway and see what happens. I definately have celiac disease. When I get glutened accidently I definately know. Try going gluten free to prove it to yourself, see if you feel better. You could also do the gluten challenge?
  9. There is a great health food store/co-op in Missoula MT. It carries several types of already baked goods etc. The name is Good Food. I'm not sure if you will pass through there or not, (too lazy to look at the map LOL). But if you do it's worth a stop.
  10. I was diagnosed with celiac 18years ago. About 2 years ago they thought I had MS, I was having alot of the symptoms. After 2 different MRI's snd several trips to the nuerologist and normal doc., they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. After talking to my mom I realized I had alot of the same symtoms as her and she has fibromyalgia. So I did some...
  11. I know the frusterations all too well!! I am 200% positive my whole family has it. My mom recently discovered after doing an atkins diet to lose weight and then going back to wheat etc. that her mysterious rash returned (even thou I told her that is what it was). She at least admits she has a reaction now. But the thing that pisses me off, is she is a...
  12. Welcome to the board! I live in Everett now. But i lived on the boarder of Tacoma and Puyallup up until recently. I am always down in the Lacey, Tacoma, Lakewood area. I am also planning another trip to Lingonberries real soon. That place is fantastic! It's well worth the drive, even from up here. Laurie
  13. Pressure cookers are fairly safe. I have used one for years (I'm 31), so has my mom and sister. When they get clogged you would know it, and they have the safety valves now. They just blow out the rubber safety valve and release pressure instantly. As for recipes, most veggies are 2-4 minutes after the steam starts releasing. I make stew, pork chops,...
  14. I would be heading to Cedar City Utah, but unfortunatley we had to cancel the trip. But I did get to go to a gluten free store in Vancouver, WA. It was fantastic!
  15. It sounds like you were severely dehydrated. I also get that way and have to go the E.R. Some times I start to hallucinate and actually passs out, also.
  16. I have always suffered from dehydration problems. I had to go to the E.R. for the first time when I was 8 years old. I have been on a gluten free diet since I was 13, and yes I still suffer from dehydration especially if I get glutened. It used to be a guaranteed trip to the E.R. I would get both ends going and it wouldn't stop. Since I started going to accupuncture...
  17. I liked gluten free living until, they sent me a renewal card and I only recieved 2 of the 4 issues I payed for. Not to mention they are very over priced. It does not cost that much to publish a magazine.
  18. I sent you a p.m. with her contact info to this board. If anyone else sent me an e-mail my outlook crashed and I was unable to retrieve your message to reply back.
  19. If it feels like a pinched nerve sort of feeling, it could be your mylan sheath. Mine is damaged due to the years of gluten damage. The mylan sheath is the insulation around your nerves.
  20. I was glutened at Talarico's Mercado...so eat there at your own risk. When I went there, there was flour on everything, including flour footprints on the floor. Should have known, but they assured me they had a sperate area dedicated to gluten free prep. Come to find out it's just a metal table right in the kitchen where all the flour flying around could...
  21. I was diagnosed at the age of 13. It was considered very rare back then. I had all the classic celiac symptoms. I was litterally dieing. I went through a year of testing. The very last test they were going to run was the biopsy, if that came back normal they didnt know what else they would check for. I had been sick my whole life, but it was gradualy getting...
  22. I developed bursitis at the age of 16 in my shoulders. Never thought of it being related....wouldn't surprise me however it it was. I was diagnosed with celiac at 13.
  23. I had surgery last July. I was in the recovery room, (still under the affects of the anesthesia). I was barely aware of even being conscience. I was having alot of pain, so they wanted to give me some vicodin pills. The nurse comes back with the pills and some crackers to eat. I had a allergy wrist band on clearly saying no wheat/ gluten. She tries to make...
  24. L.O.L, I believe the term you are looking for it "yuppie". Living in the Seattle area I know exactly what you are referring to. We also call them "granola bars" or "greeners".
  25. Is that Boise Idaho? If so I am going to be traveling through there in June.
