  1. I have celiac disease, fibromyalgia, hypoglycemia and something else they haven't decide on yet. It is either MS, rheumatoid arthritis or miosytis. I have been gluten free since I was 13 and I am now 32. I believe I developed the other auto immune disorders due to accidental glutenings through the years. It is a good chance your kids will be fine, especially...
  2. Most beers contain barley. I know there is a brand from over there I had once called tolleration. It is made with only hops. I'm not a big beer drinker so I can't be of much help. -Laurie
  3. Plus there is Lingonberries market, it is about 95% gluten free and is in Vancouver just off I-205. The fish place is Great! They even have cheese curds and gluten-free desserts. -Laurie
  4. Yup every once in awhile, we call it the mystery glutening. Then I jokeningly say someone is trying to kill me off and is sprinkling flour in my food when I'm not looking. In fact I am currently having an issue with my gut, I feel for you. -Laurie
  5. Another thought, when you are de-hydrated your blood pressure will be lower as well. For years I never really retained luiqids of any form. (blood work never showed I was de-hydrated). If I drank alot of water gatorade etc. it goes right thru me like a big water filter system. So If I got glutened I would go into a state of delerium within an hour or 2 if...
  6. I don't know how it is down in Australia (I'm assuming that is where he is too). My mom worked in nursing homes for years, as a nurse. She says the food they feed the paitents is absolute crap. Every thing and I mean everything comes pre-made just add water etc. She has seen a decline in people's health eating all the preservatives and additives. She...
  7. From personal experience, I believe it can cause more problems. I have been gluten free for 19 years and have been accidentally glutened more times than I care to remember. I have since developed over the years hypoglycemia, fibromyalgia and something else that they aren't sure of yet. Possibly MS, rheumatoid arthritis or myositis. Yippee! I just...
  8. When I was diagnosed at 13 my teeth were already starting to fall out of my mouth. I know I was deficent in most of the fat soluable vitamins, K & A I know for sure and i think calcium and D too. I was told your teeth need those vitamins to maintain the enamel on your teeth and when they are developing under the gums as well. -Laurie
  9. Well crap, we only got a slight dusting here. -Laurie
  10. The kinickinick (sp) rolls are really good. They are just like the brown and serve rolls, only difference is they are frozen. They are also already seperated so no trying to pry them apart. -Laurie
  11. I have in the past, brought my own gluten free chex mix made with gluten-free rice and corn "chex" and pretzels. Pre-made Cookies in a box (since they travel better). Jerky and cheese are great for protein. You might want to bring a couple of those pre-made chicken or tuna salad w/ crackers, (they are made for lunches or on the go sorta thing) then bring...
  12. I have been looking at paint samples and noticed I liked the the toasted wheat color and other similar names too. LOL Oh the irony. -Laurie
  13. Everyone kept saying they changed the trix to have gluten in them, to this day I haven't found any that were not gluten-free. I wonder if it is a regional thing? I'm in WA. -Laurie
  14. All during the time before I was diagnosed at age 13, I was a radiator. I was extremely skinny. The last year before my diagnosis I looked like an ethiopian child. I was so warm that when my family went camping my parents and my sister would argue over who I would sleep with. (to keep them warm) LOL I too, would get very sweaty, dizzy and about 95% of...
  15. Most likely what you are experienceing is from a weakened immune system. For instance when you get a cold you get alot of snot in your sinuses, etc. That is an open invitation for bacteria to have a hay day and cause an infection. Your immune system is weakened due to the continual attacks on your body and it is hard for it to fight viral and bacterial...
  16. I had 2 biopsies and both were inconclusive. Since I had positive dietary results the Dr. had no doubt I had celiac. I was diagnosed back in 1988, they didn't have blood tests or genetic testings back then. -Laurie
  17. It is a picture of me driving the red bull truck in the ProRock women's rock crawling competition. All the proceeds go to breast cancer research. I should update it since I drive for Team S&N fab now. -Laurie
  18. I'm already on antibiotics due to an infection inmy tooth that has come back 4 times now, ergh. I am supposed to get oral surgery on the 4th for it, but I think I'm gonna have to cancel. I am definately getting sick. I hope this doesn't drag on for months. And yes I am in the metropolis of Everett. Glad to hear it wasn't a hernia. Feel better soon! ...
  19. I think I'm getting the dreaded crud that is going around, too. Yuck!
  20. I'm 32 and have been gluten free for 19 years. I was sick my whole life and was litterally dyeing when I was diagnosed. First trip to the E.R. was when I was 9. -Laurie
  21. I just called my mom and asked her (she is a nurse). She said she would think it is entirely possible to do so, she even explained about tearing holes in your esphophugus (sp)? (throat). Yadda, yadda, long story short, sometimes you can see external bulging sometimes you can't. If the pain persists you need to be seen. By the way there is a nasty bug going...
  22. Don't they have the individual pod packs? If so maybe the glue they use to seal it up is wheat? -Laurie
  23. Before I was diagnosed, (i was 12 y/o) my doctor sent me to a physciatrist. I had to see him for a year and was diagnosed with "schoolaphobia" or something to that effect. They thought it was all in my head and I was afraid to go to school. My mom didn't believe it, thankfully. After I got a diagnosis she told the shrink to cram it. So I don't have real...
  24. I read some where (can't remember where, figures) that something like 75% or so of the seratonin is made in your stomach, so that would explain that.
  25. I haven't gotten sick from Bob's flour, but it tastes terrible. Garbanzo bean flour is just gross imo. -Laurie
