  1. There is a cookie that taste very similar to those! They were a big surprise, I just bought a box to try them, I had no idea they would be so good. They are Dr. Schar's chocolate bisquits. Anything that is gluten free snacks would be great. -Laurie
  2. I think one of the best memories for me was when I was 3 or 4. I got from santa a "rocky rollie school bus". It was one of those weeble wobble things. LOL. I was so excited. I think my mom still has that thing up in the attic. Oh the memories that are stashed up there. -Laurie
  3. They list the Jello cheesecake ingredients seperate from the crust ingredients. (I also throw out the crust). I get the gluten free graham cracker crust mix and put the jello cheesecake in it. It is yummy! -Laurie
  4. I remember a year where I was in the ER on Thanksgiving, my birthday (Dec. 6th), Christmas eve/day then New Year's day. It started out by my mom accidently giving me the wrong pie on turkey day. I knew as soon as I tasted it that it was the wrong pie and spit it out. I was so sick on Christmas, my mom opened my presents for me. I didn't even care that...
  5. I'm trying to remember what that is. Is that the greenish-blue liquor? If it is a liqure I am not sure, you may have to contact the company. If it is a rum, vodka, whiskey, etc. it is gluten-free if it is distilled and fermented. -Laurie
  6. I was diagnosed back in 1988, I have never purposely cheated, but I have been glutened by accident more times than I care to remember. As a result of that alone, I have since developed hypoglycemia, fibromyalgia, nerve damage and some thing else that they aren't sure of it yet. (I'm in the process of getting tested for MS, Myosytis and rheumatoid arthritis...
  7. I was always hot pre-gluten free. My parents and sister would fight over who I was going to sleep with when we went camping. (I was a small child). They said I was a heater. I would also get really hot when I would have a "celiac attack". So much that I would feel like I would hurl and have to peel all my clothes off when I was sitting on the toilet.
  8. I love mine, I think I cook half our dinners in it LOL. -Laurie
  9. They make a rice tortillia that has no corn in it at all. "Food for life" is the brand, you can do a goolge search for it to find where to get it. Hope that helps curb your cravings! The ingredients are: Brown rice flour, filtered water, tapioca flour, safflower oil, rice bran, vegetable gum (xanthan, cellulose), sea salt. -Laurie
  10. I am in the process of fighting a severe infection in one of my teeth. It was root canaled, the infection came back. the dentist opened it back up and cleaned it again. The infection is now back for the third time! Now I have to have some sort of oral surgery where they cut open my gum and scrape the jaw bone. This really sucks! I am also in the process...
  11. I have never had problems from a flu shot.
  12. Are you talking about the maple santa and maple leafs? I love those and as far as I know they are naturally gluten free. I have eaten them for years with no problems. Some companies will say a product is gluten free like it is a special recipe and jack the prices up even though it is normally gluten-free. That makes me mad, that they take advantage of people...
  13. Manna Mills in Montlake Terrace is just a little North of Seattle. The boss has celiac and it is by far the biggest selection I have seen in Puget Sound area. They have almost anything you could want. They specialize in allergies and intolerances. -Laurie
  14. I know this is a little off topic but..... Michelle does your daughter have celiac? Before my diagnosis I was always hot. So much that when my family went camping in the mountains my parents and my sister would fight over who I was sleeping with. I was a small kid about 4ish too. They said I was a heater. I remember sometimes I would get so hot I would...
  15. It so fits me LOL. I have discovered the adult eggnog.
  16. No kidding, we got 5 and half inches in Everett. This is not normal weather fo WA, let alone in Nov!
  17. LOL mine is grumpy eggnog breath.
  18. Last year the kids and I started a new tradition. We love Halloween so much, we decided we would have a "Nightmare Before Christmas" themed christmas. We have lovely sally and Jack stockings. For the tree we put fake cobwebs with purple and oarnge lights. We also have purple and oarnge ornaments and of course a nice set of Nightmare Before x-mas ornaments...
  19. Scottish or Irish moss works well, but like it was said it does like alot of water. The thyme is very fragrant, so that could be good or bad. If you are sensitive to smells then it probably isn't a good idea. If you live wear moss grows vey thickly in the woods, on downed trees etc. it is a nice alternative. We have a very nice variety her in the NW....
  20. I used to be a floral designer. I know exactly what you mean. Valentine's day, mother's day, I do not miss those days at all LOL. I particularly DO NOT MISS the tree sap on my hands from the tree greens! Or the stupid christmas carols on repeat of the same 3 c.d.s. I can't wear rubber gloves, I'm allergic. -Laurie
  21. i just tried a gluten-free beer that is "Toleration" brand. It is from England. I had never had beer before, since I was diagnosed at the age of 13. I payed $7.99 for a bottle (it was a really big bottle). It tasted terible! I drank the whole thing though since I payed so much for it. I had my B-F try and he said that is how beer tastes. So I think it's official...
  22. I was diagnosed 19 years ago, there was no blood test back then. I had 2 biopsies and they were both "inconclusive". I had ALL the classic symtoms of a celiac. I was litterally dyeing from malnutrition and the other side effects of celiac. We did the gluten challenge and it almost killed me. My pediatrician Dr. said there was no doubt what so ever that I...
  23. All the time. I have been checked for MS twice. They are now checking for rhuematoid arthritis and myositis. Any more I don't know what to think. I know I have nerve damage other than that, who knows. Sorry I can't be more help. -Laurie
  24. What disgusts me the most, is that they had christmas crap out in the stores before Halloween. It's making me more and more into a scrooge. It's like everyone lives the whole year counting down to Christmas. -Laurie
  25. I can say from personal experience that I have had celiac since I was born. My mom breast fed me. From the age of 2 years of age or so I would get horrible stomach cramps and would scream in horrible pain. My mom thought I had celiac all the way back then in the 70's. The Dr. told her I had developed a wheat allergy and took me off it for awhile. There...
