  1. I agree drugs are pushed way too much. I stand by why I participated. It is in hope of raising awarness, hoping they can give my dad a pill that will help him to not slowly kill himself, and cc issues.
  2. I have hope that there will be something available within in the next 5 to 10 years. I just hope it happens before it is too late for my idiot dad. If anyone at all has questions about participating let me know here or send me a pm. I'll be happy to help.
  3. I can relate to your daughter in a way. All growing up I had an overactive bladder. I get too cold I peed my pants, I heard water running I peed my pants......I remember having the concentrated urine problem as a small child 2-4 years of age or around there. It hurts horribly. My concentrated urine came from my mom limiteding what I drank an hour or...
  4. The problem would be proving it.....They can use the excuse oh we weren't hiring at the the time......blah, blah, blah.
  5. I had a GI Dr. call me this morning from Virignia Mason (the hosp. where I particpated in the study). He told me that the phase I participated in went so well that the new study is focusing on using the At-1001 on newly diagnosed Celiac paitents. They want to know if it helps them heal faster. Just thought I would pass along the info.
  6. Phewie! I had these a few years ago and had gotten sick around that time, but didn't put two and two together. I chalked it up to a "mystery glutening". I had broke my leg and was heavily medicated at the time. Mystery solved....Back to the mystery van as Scooby Doo would say.
  7. I participated in the study a year ago. I started in Nov. had to stop Dec. 24th due to a diseased galllbladder. I found out that I was recieving the actual test drug (not a placebo) and wheat flour in capsules. I am a person who is super sensitive and reacts horribly to gluten and I DID NOT get sick! Not even once! Hooray! I had a three reasons to make...
  8. I have always had great experiences with Outback as far as gluten-free goes. I have had some crappy service however. The manager will fix any problems you may have. My only 2 complaints are the prices, I think they are super over priced and they have gotten spicier with their steak seasoning.
  9. Richard not to be rude, but they did not used to be gluten-free. I know this for a fact. My mom called and confirmed after I spent Thanksgiving night in the ER due to the butterball turkey my grandma made for dinner. (back then we ate at 2 P.M. for holiday dinners, not sure why). Either way I have been gluten-free for 21 years now. I believe this happened...
  10. My only thought is don't do what my mom did. I was 13 at the time, she took me out to eat, told me order whatever I wanted. As I'm sitting there wolfing down a big stack of pancakes she drops the bomb. I started crying, then realized I can't eat them, which was my fav at the time. I point this out to her and she says just eat them anyway. She could have...
  11. Technically an allergy is different than being gluten intolerant or celiac.
  12. Thank gawd for cell phones. I can't tell you how many times it has hit me without warning and I made a call from the bathroom. Trying to whipser from the stall....hey my gut's acting up, I'm gonna be a few.
  13. I use one. I alternate between this an normal deodrant. I have mixed thoughts about it. At times it seems to work fantastic, others I end up applying the deodorant over it after a few hours. I think it depends on how much I am sweating that day and if my body is trying to sweat out extra toxins. My only complaint really is that it is like a roll on. It...
  14. I have had an 11 month bout (so far) of extreme pain on the left upper ribs / chest area. It was a combo of things for me. I had a diseased gallbladder, a gallstone stuck in the bile duct and an 8mm kidney stone. I have had 1 surgery for gallbladder removal, 1 E.R.C.P. to remove the stone from the bile duct, contined to have severe pain. 1 endoscopic...
  15. You are correct, it is now in Greenwood on HWY 99. I said N of Seattle for anyone unfamilar with the area.
  16. Just North of Seattle.
  17. That said place in now a glorified mocha-latte' store w/ some baked goods. I bought cinnamon rolls from there and they were awful. Super dry. I haven't been back. I also experienced "interesting behavior" from the owner when she had the full restaurant. She didn't lie to me, but was rather rude. We waited for awhile to get a refill on my pop. Waitress...
  18. I don't have exact measurements but I use 1 or 2 cups corn starch 2 eggs oil 2-3 tsp sugar 1 tsp or so vanilla couple dashes of salt the batter should be super thin, nothing like pancake batter. pour thin later into pan, move the pan around to cover the size you want. cook on medium high. fill with whatever you like. I use fruit with a...
  19. Some BR's have gluten free cakes. They are just ice cream, fudge goo, and nuts.
  20. Hhmm, we did get a massive amount of rain recently. I live in the Pac. NW. Thanks for the thoughts at least I know I'm not crazy. I will also invest in an oven thermometer.
  21. Okay here goes, LOL. I have been gluten-free for 20 years, but have never done alot of baking due to being in the past I was the only one gluten-free that I knew. Now my whole family is, so I have been trying to make bread, etc. I recently made a pie crust that uses rice flour, butter and cream cheese. (there may be other ingredients, don't have the ccok...
  22. I know why it does it. Scott has gone into the settings and set it up to automatically put "lame advertisement." You are not free to change things. I have had to repost up to 10 times to get around this. Plus after a set time you aren't allowed to edit your own posts anymore. If I want to recommend a site or product I should be allowed to do so. If there...
  23. I never know when it is going to do that. I have thought about leaving this board for that reason alone. I think it is BS that we can't recommend or ask others because it is sensored.
  24. I have thrown up violently as an adult from accidental gluten. To make things more fun I usually have both ends going at the same time. (TMI sorry). I end up sitting on the can w/ a trash can on my lap. I would continue to do this to the point that I was severley dehydrated, delerious and passing out. The only thing that would stop it, would be a trip to...
  25. As an extreme measure you can get steroid pills from the Dr. I have only used this once. I had a severe reaction. As soon as I quit taking them I had a stomach blowout, but it wasn't nearly as bad.
