  1. There are many autoimmune disorders, none of then have a true cure. I feel we are lucky, in that in a way we do have a cure. Avoid all gluten and you won't have an autoimmune response. A Dr. can give you steroids to suppress your autoimmune response. I have taken them before for a severe gluten reaction. As soon as I quit taking the pills I still had the...
  2. I use it and like it real well. I also use it to make salt scrubs for the bath. Rock salt, grapeseed oil, and a scented oil is fabulous.
  3. I admit heat when I eat gluten and often get too warm and throw up. I guess everyone is different.
  4. This is very thoughtful of you to do. Meats and veggies are naturally gluten free. Grilled chicken with veggies and rice sounds great. But make sure your seasonings are gluten free. I use garlic powder, onions powder, and parsley, for seasoning in my rice.
  5. I did particiapte in one of the Alba studies. Virginia Mason Hospital had the study in WA state. It wasn't directly Alba that you were dealing with, but rather whichever hospital, clinic or whatever Alba hired for your area. They had a huge amount of people respond. I recieved an initial generic thanks e-mail with a phone number to call, to further screen...
  6. I have been having pain in my left lower rib cage and it isn't from my celiac. (I get that pain under my belly button). It started out with gallstones, then a stone in my bile duct. After 9 months of severe pain they figured out that I have a 8 mm kidney stone. They figured this out by doing a full torso cat scan. I never presented with the classic pain...
  7. kinninnick's make a gluten-free graham cracker crust. Laurel's makes a graham cracker mix that can be used as crust. try looking on Amazon.
  8. Where is this piece of cake place? If you are talking about the city of Tacoma 17th is in Tacoma and will be looking for it.
  9. There is a gluten-free bakery in Kent (the next city South of Renton). It's called Haley's Corner. This stupid website won't let me post the website addy. it is 3 w's the name as 1 word. In Lakewood (Tacoma) there is a Garlic Jim's with gluten-free pizza crust. I don't know of anything in Olympia other than Outback (they have a gluten-free menu).
  10. I do and enjoy there music.
  11. Foley's Pizza at 724 Lebo BLVD has gluten-free pizza. I haven't been there, but it is recomended you call ahead to make sure they have it in stock.
  12. I understand about the simpler recipes. I just don't have the time to let something rise for 2 hours, etc. My biggest complaint is weird ingredients however. I would like to see recipes with stuff that people usually have around the house. I like that many ethnic foods are naturally gluten-free but I don't usually have tamarin or hoisen sauce, or...
  13. I'm curious why you have a panel done annually? Once you are diagnosed why would you need blood work done again?
  14. Depending on where you are in AZ if you have a Picazzo's Pizza the gluten-free pizza crusts are fantastic.
  15. I've have an e-stalker issue and try to remain annonymous. It sucks
  16. Madame K's in Ballard offers a gluten-free rice tortillia crust pizza and some gluten free pasta. (I haven't been in a long time so you may want to call and confirm they still have it). Garlic Jim's in Mukilteo on Mukilteo Speedway has a gluten free pizza crust. Manna Mills health food store in Montlake Terrace has a huge selection of gluten-free stuff, including...
  17. Does any one know when (exact dates) and where (location) exactly the conference will be held?
  18. Let me just start by saying, please don't take think that I am attacking you. But they say that once something is in a person's mouth for 20 minutes or longer it is neutralized by the saliva. They had thought a woman died from kissing her boyfriend because he had eaten peanut butter and she was severely allergic. Turned out it wasn't possible. What...
  19. Depending on the company I may or may not trust them. If there is clearly flour all over the place run. Many places give strict training courses on the cross contamination problems. If in doubt as what there policies are. If you don't feel comfortable with their answers, thank them and leave.
  20. The Picazzo's in Az is fantastic. My friend had the regular crust and tried some of mine and he couldn't tell the difference. Garlic Jim's is ok. But they do use corn meal to roll the crust out (at least at the one I went to). So if you aren't doing corn, it won't work for you. On a side note the Garlic Jim's by the Lakewood towne center (Lakewood WA,...
  21. The key is to only take enough Immodiums to slow things down a bit, not plug it up. It makes no sense to have severe D to the point of dehydration (like some of us who end up in the ER). I personally don't enjoy brown underwear if you know what I mean.
  22. When the skin just peels back, it is called a skin tear. This is very common with older people that are in nursing homes. My mom was a nurse and worked in the homes for years. She said the skin tears started showing up after the homes started switching to all that pre-fabbed garbage they like to call food. (Just add water, etc.) She believes it is from...
  23. There really isn't much you can do but ride it out. You can take some immodium which can help with the D and cramps. Check which one is gluten-free. I think the liquid is not safe, but I'm not sure. There is also the option of getting steroid pills from the DR. But most people don't like taking them because they can cause serious side affects.
