  1. In addition to the things already mentioned, they can also give you an oral steroid. It helps to prevent they symptoms from dragging out over multiple days, which I have had happen. But only when I was bad enough to end up in the ER due to the dehydration side of things.
  2. I was diagnosed 20 years ago, been gluten free except for accidents since. Just toady I had impressions taken today to get top dentures and partial lower dentures. My teeth continue to crumble. I used flouride everyday until my late teens. The dentist seems to think that when my adult teeth were still forming I was in full blown autoimmune atttacks from the...
  3. I'm in the Puget Sound area but prefer not to give an exact location.
  4. I just looked at the site and it doesn't list the original chex mix for gluten free. I make it all the time however. I just use all rice chex (total of 9 cups) use gluten free pretzels and nuts and omit the bagel chips. You can add a little more pretzels nuts and or rice chex to the mix to substitute for the omitted bagel chips.
  5. Chex has a gluten free recipe site. its www dot chex dot/glutenfree of course it is an actual . instead of the word dot and no spaces.
  6. I am super sensitive and have had no issues with rice chex.
  7. My latest easy dinner is pizza. I use Trader Joe's rice tortillias as the base. Layer on pizza sauce, mozzarella and whatever topping you want and bake on 400 degrees for about 10 minutes. A little longer if you like the cheese browned. It is like a thin crust pizza and super easy.
  8. Thanks Judy. I have a link saved that I received from Itchy girl, but it isn't working now. Basically most Dr.s don't want to mess with it or they don't believe it is real. It is very painful and can feel similar to a gall attack, but not neccassarily. There is a pancreatic enzyme that will help give you relief if that is the problem. The brand ...
  9. Irene, if you are wondering about the spincter of oddi thing, I had it. I had the surgery done twice. They make a bigger deal out of it than it really is. That is if the Dr. knows what they are doing. The first procedure was unsuccessful with me. The second time they made a bigger cut. I had to beg the Dr. to do the second procedure. Low and behold a 5 mm...
  10. My acupuncturist says they work and no she doesn't sell them. She recommends the brand advertised on tv and sold at walgreens. One of these days I will get over there and pick some up.
  11. Unfortunately no. I haven't found a pool in my area that has a decent temp. Olympic athlete training temp is too frigid for me. LOL At least not any within a decent price range.
  12. I lock up in cold water too. I thought I was crazy until I figured out it is fairly common with fibro.
  13. Keep in mind that not everyone gets relief from a gluten-free diet. I was diagnosed with celiac 20 years ago and have been gluten free since. I was diagnosed with fibro 4 or 5 years ago. I have tried elimination diets, nothing has helped. The latest research shows that it has to do with emotional stress and or trauma, that is if it is true fibro.
  14. That is fantastic! You just made a house full of celiacs very happy! I will have to go get the ingredients before I announce this new find. Otherwise I might get my arm chewed off or something.
  15. However, I think it would be helpful for people like my b/f who has a mother who thinks I brain washed him into thinking there is a problem. He figured it out by accident when he started eating gluten-free with me. He is even more paranoidabout getting glutened than I am! It would definatley be a plus for us if we had a diagnosis from an official...
  16. I used to end up in the ER every time I got glutened when I was younger. I also have a problem with chronic dehydration issues. I don't get D I just have to pee allot. I literally feel like a giant Britta Pitcher at times. Since I started acupuncture I haven't had an issue. (No trips to the ER anyway.) She says I have a blood deficiency in Chinese...
  17. I was diagnosed at age 13 a few years later my great grandmother(dad's side) was diagnosed at age 83. My grandmother (dad's mom) had chronic stomach problems her whole life and got colon cancer. My dad refuses to believe there is a problem even though we fought over the bathroom until I went gluten free. My sister also is in denial along with her 2...
  18. I was diagnosed with Celiac 20 years ago and fibro about 5 years ago.
  19. For those that were wondering about the book that lists gluten free options at restaurants etc. it is put out by triumph dining. You can do a google search to find it.
  20. I know how you feel. My darn whole family is celiac including my kids. My mom and I are the only two that follow a gluten-free diet. The others choose to "ignore" their problems. I guess the botton line is, The truth hurts. So they just choose to ignore the obvious. Maybe they will come around when their problems get worse. In the meantime I have learned...
  21. I too had problems with cracks at the corners of my mouth when I was growing up. My mom would give me vitamin B 12 or 6 or which ever one it was and it would go away. It always came back if I quit taking it. Of course since going gluten free 20 years ago I haven't had an issue.
  22. I'm hesitant to say go for the vacination. Shingles is just the Chicken Pox coming back to haunt you. Most people never get shingles others get them multiple times. My daughter got the at the age of 10 years old. She had chicken pox at 5 years old. She was treated by a Dr. both times with each outbreak. So it wasn't that she wasn't treated properly. Some...
  23. Through most of my daughter's life she has suffered from ear infections, strep throat and snoring. I have asked on numerous occasions about having her tonsils removed. The Dr. kept saying if she gets it one more time this year, then.... Well of course it never happened. She is now 17 years old and I got a different dr. to give a referral for a sleep study...
  24. I was the one who had to drop out (gallstones). I was in the Alba therapeutics study. I believe this is a different type of medication. Either way, I want them to develop a pill not only to protect me from cc issues, but also because we all know how much power the pharmaceutical companies have. If they find something that works they will start pushing it...
  25. Good to know! I will use that as leverage. Thanks!
