  1. I dunno? Maybe the *possibilty* of the bread containing gluten was just a CYA type thing? If you're sensitive and didn't get any symptoms of being cc it might be fine for you to eat it? I guess I'd go back and ask questions about why it's labeled that way? Sure is a bummer to find a product you really like and now you're not sure about whether or not...
  2. Meat can be hard to digest, so if your system is irritated from gluten or some other cause it will give you problems. If you're noticing odd toilet symptoms after drinking beer, that would be consistant with Celiac or gluten intollerance. Beer is made from barley malt. Ask your Dr. for a Celiac panel blood test. Most Docs won't recognize the symptoms...
  3. That's what my bumps look like! They are purple after they first heal..which takes forever, and then they leave a white spot. I have them on my upper arms and a couple on my legs right now. I find it impossible to leave them alone! My Celiac wasn't diagnosed by my skin problems, but I think they're related? I'm interested to see what you find out.
  4. I chose Bubba's Mom because that's my dog's name...and I think of him as one of my kids. LOL
  5. Wow! I never even thought about nail polish having gluten.
  6. IMO it would be good to have the entire household gluten-free. It would eliminate cross contamination and prevent accidents of grabbing the wrong food or ingredient. It would also have everyone educated as to what is safe to eat when outside of the home. When reading ingredient labels I avoid anything that suggests there could be a chance of gluten...
  7. My tests came back in the normal range. An endoscope was ordered the same time as the blood draw. I was lucky that I had the scope because it showed I had severe villi damage. If we had stopped after getting the blood tests I wouldn't be DXed. In some cases an endoscope can be done and not find any damage. It can lie outside of the range of the scope...
  8. Your description of knowing those chocolate chips were stashed away...that if you just ate one, or a few it wouldn't hurt..nobody would know, sounds very much like the struggle an alcoholic or person with a drug addiction goes through. Sugar affects the brain. It tickles the brain's pleasure responses. It wants to feel "happy" and will make you crave...
  9. Very shortly after being DXed and going gluten-free I went to the grocery store. I had to walk through the bakery dept. to get to the special diet food section. I had a reaction like my throat closing as I went through. It concerned me so I asked my allergist for food allergy testing. I told him I had just been diagnosed with Celiac, but it didn't show...
  10. I think the paperwork for taxes would be a nightmare, but if you have a FLEX account(money set aside for medical with no tax paid on it)you can use your card for purchasing gluten free versions of foods. Just have your Dr write a note saying the diet is medically neccesary.
  11. I like to eat the cinnamon Rice Chex out of the box as a snack.
  12. We like garlic powder added too.
  13. Over the years I've had a long list of symptoms. It seems like they move around from time to time? Most recently my symptoms were GI, but at the same time I've had what I thought were bug bites or something on my back, arms, and legs. They're just several in each area and itch like mad! They don't heal because I scratch them until they open. They don...
  14. Thanks so much for posting this recipe! Once the weather turns cool I feel more like playing in the kitchen.
  15. The weather just turned real cool here. It made really miss making homemade noodles and chicken noodle soup. I made chicken and rice..but it was not even close to the same comfort food! I really miss Panera's cinnamon bagel too..fresh and chewy. It used to be my treat on the days I ran errunds. I tried making a pizza, but the dough seemed more like...
  16. Thank you for that clarification SkyLark. My blood tests were negative, but my endoscope showed flattened villi. The GI said I had Celiac. Since going gluten-free I've noticed that soy gives me neurological symptoms, which has had me questioning if soy caused the damage...or is it gluten? My allergist said that dairy can cause villi damage too, leaving...
  17. My strongest symptoms seemed like gall bladder problems. My Dr ordered a scan and said "there's nothing wrong with your gall bladder". My symptoms continued. When I started dropping weight and was really sick he ordered a CT scan. It showed enlarged lymph nodes in my intestines. That's what finally made him believe there "might" be something wrong. He...
  18. Forgot to add..my sister has Crohn's too. It won't go under control and she now has IV therapy once a month. I told her she should ask her Dr. about Celiac testing. She did..but he told her "there's no special diet to treat Crohn's!" She decided to try the "blood type diet". Her blood type shouldn't eat wheat, along with a lot of other restrictions....
  19. Once I was diagnosed I told my 2 grown sons they should be tested. They both said "no way..I'm not giving up gluten". My oldest son even agreed with me that he probably has it! My husband has quite a few of the symptoms as well. He refuses to be tested. He travels for his job during the week, so he has to eat out. He says he can't do his job and...
  20. I made fried Spring rolls and they were yummy! The filling was ground chicken, browned and chopped up a generous sprinkle of garlic powder a bit of grated fresh ginger a sprinkle of Chinese five spice Cooked in a cast iron pan. I added a package of shredded cabbage/carrot cole slaw mix. Stirred and turned the heat off. The pan will hold the heat...
  21. Hello..and welcome! I think it's best to avoid the "replacement" products..at least for a while anyway? Shop from and eat the items in the outer parameter of the store. Fresh fruits and veggies, whole meats (not processed like hot dogs, etc) eggs, and once you've healed..some dairy. There are many things you can cook like stews, chilli, grilled or roasted...
  22. Hooray! I'm so happy for you. It looks like you're healing well?
  23. I found several artcles about scalloped tongue. Here's a good one.. Open Original Shared Link
  24. Just a thought...if we can't use colanders that were previously used with gluten pasta because it can't be cleaned thoroughly enough..what about the basket that's used to hold and lift the fried chips? Wouldn't there be a strong possibilty of cc?
  25. There's another thing I thought I would mention too...if you are getting sick from the left overs of food that didn't bother you the first time, maybe your storage containers are cc'd? Plastic is pourous, so if you're using containers that were previously used for gluten..it'll get ya.
