ARCHIVED Anyone Recover From Chronic Insomnia After Going gluten-free?
AVR1962 replied to carrieanna76's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I didn't read thru all the replies so this could be a repeat. More than likely your body is vitamin deficient. Crazy what nutrients play in our ability to sleep. I went thru a terribly long spell of insomnia until I started supplementing. Got to feeling better, backed off on my B complex, magnesium and potassium and found myself dealing with insomnia again... -

ARCHIVED Neg Blood Tests - Please Help!
AVR1962 replied to Tarantula44's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sounds to me like you found your answer. I did not have a blood test while on gluten, my first doc actually tested me after I started my gluten-free diet (??), no longer my doc. Docs wanted me back on, I tried. I made it to day 12. And yes, it was a set back, I got very sick like you have mentioned. I knew I could not get the diagnosis at that point but decided... -
ARCHIVED Determined To Try Gluten Relief
AVR1962 replied to alicewa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I looked at those things too, posted something similiar months ago. It seemed I woke up one morning and was sick, almost like I entered someone else's body. Sure I'd had issues before my trip to ER which started my journey but until my symptoms went neuro things were managable. So it has been really hard for me to adjust to the idea that I will have to eat... -
ARCHIVED Strategies For Daily Life When You're Feeling Lousy
AVR1962 replied to jumpingjuniper's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I find if I jump start my day with even just a small brisk walk outside I will have a more productive day. Not always easy as it is more tempting for me to sit at the computer so I have to make myself at times. Also, I a terribly sluggish without D from the sun, and live in an area with nlots of clouds and rain, feel like I could hybernate for the winter... -
ARCHIVED 3 Weeks - No Difference
AVR1962 replied to granolagal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It really does get better. For me it was like taking 2 steps fwd and 1 step back, inching my way thru it all. THere would days when I would wake up and think "how did this happen to me?" I could beat myself up with questions I'd never have answers to but the one thing I know is that any gluten will make me sick so I have to stay away from it. Sounds like... -
ARCHIVED Time After Consuming Gluten Until....
AVR1962 replied to texmar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
24 hours after gluten I will have digestive issues, headache, brain fog, messed up speach, I will be tired and off balance. The first week is the worst for me. By the end of the week I usually have my thoughts together, headache gone but I will be off balance for at least 3 weeks. -
ARCHIVED Question Regarding Dairy-Free
AVR1962 replied to MotoMommy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You mentioned a recent diagnosis and lots of digestive issues. I would go off both for 2 months to allow time for some healing before trying any dairy and when you do try it, you can take lactose digestive enzymes if you find out it is your issue. To avoid possible CC or getting confused with another possible food allergy at this point, I would avoid the... -

ARCHIVED Covergirl & Olay Simply Ageless Serum Primer Product
AVR1962 replied to helainea's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I use a product that I would higly recommend. Clinique SuperDefense SPF moisturizer which makes my skin feel great without being greasy. Then I apply Lancome Aqua Fusion Teinte which is a moisturizing tint. I have had no issues with it. Other brands I use and stick to are Nivea and Almay. -
I think you are really onto things here with your thoughts and questions. Multivits are not all we need sometimes, crazy a doc would even say that. Good for you for getting all your labwork results! I would encourage you to seek a different doc. Do you have any university hospitals in your area? I had to travel 45 minutes to get to one myself but I found...

ARCHIVED Hair Loss - When Will It Come Back?
AVR1962 replied to granolagal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You are right on track, and no this is not too much to combine. I think everyone of those products reads on the back that they should be taken with a meal. Do that to help with absorbtion. At first you might notice little change. The first thing I noticed was my hair was falling out. Zinc and Biosil are both good to for other things, I know it's not cheap... -
ARCHIVED 3 Weeks - No Difference
AVR1962 replied to granolagal's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Here's some thoughts to keep in mind. It took me a long long time, made lots of mistakes that I was not even aware of while I was being careful so I'll put this out from what I learned. If you are reading all labels, are you sure of all the ingredient names to avoid? Great list right here on this site. I found wheat flour in my cooking spray and had been... -
My reaction would have ben the same as yours. When we finally find something we can actually eat and someone else then eats it, it is disheartening to find it gone.

ARCHIVED I'm The 1st Diagnosed With Celiac
AVR1962 replied to RVluvin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I too am the first and only person in my family to be diagnosed. However, my mother has all kinds of food and skin allergies. 2 of my 3 daughters, and all 4 of my grandkids are on a gluten-free diet and have been for much longer than myself. I don't know about connections to our heritage but my family roots are from Sweden. The whole family is either blonde... -
Wonderful! I'm glad it was a great experience for you. I'll have to look into the cards, we travel quite a bit and I think they would be well worth it. Thanks for the tip!

Wow! How do these docs get their license? Vit deficiency can't be the problem, a multi is good enough and you are losing hair? Yikes! Did you request a print-out of the labs?Thyroid tested fine, that's good. So is she going to keep searching for the reason for your symptoms? You were diagnosed in July, completely common for the villa to be damaged and...

ARCHIVED Lactose Or Casein?
AVR1962 replied to glutenfreemamax2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
In the Hidden Valley bottled Ranch dressing there are several things that could be an issue depending what you ahve problems with: soybean oil, egg yolk, nonfat buttermilk, soy, vinegar, xanthan gum. It makes my stomach sick, for me I think it is the xanthan gum. I use Albertson's store brand dry ranch mixed with plain (not sweetened) Greek yogurt. ... -
ARCHIVED Bob's Red Mill?
AVR1962 replied to key's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Monica, I have not eaten the cereal myself but have had other Mill's products that made me feel sick to my stomach, not a gluten reaction though. I started looking at what was in the products and which ones I would get the sick stomach from and connected it to xanthun gum. Is there any of it in the product? -
ARCHIVED My Story Of Gluten Poisoning...
AVR1962 replied to Robert M.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Best thing you could have done for yourself. Many of us have had to do the same. I made it to day 12 after being off and just was too sick to continue. Tests are not accurate in the first place and by continuing on the gluten you are only causing yourself more damage than good. I hope you continue to feel better! -
ARCHIVED I'm Starting To Suspect This More And More
AVR1962 replied to birdie22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did you and your mom decided to go gluten free? The vit deficiencies are real important. I think many times we pass vits off, many say they are a waste of money, etc. When the body does not receive the proper nutrients for whatever reason it suffers, long-term this can be hard to recover from so it is very important that you see the labwork with your own... -
