  1. Too funny, my name is alice and I've baked this cake twice. Oh wow is all I can say. I mean wow. I don't think you can get any better than this. I have not looked for maple sugar but I will, I have and do use sucanat BUT I will not use xanthan any longer. I have the new Blackberry Bakery Gluten-Free dessert and pastery cookbook and it tells you how to combine...
  2. grate idea.....
  3. I just ruined my wisk attachment on my Kitchen Aide with peanut butter, sugar and some King Arthur flour. This flour is thick, my most excellent hand mixer can't really handle it. I bought mine refurbished, $150, at Thanksgiving. It's a gem and I'm looking at a grain mill attachment so I can grind my own grain.
  4. I like to add this to other mixes. It's pricy but worth it. When I don't add it most stuff flops and I've been at this for a few years now. We sure didn't throw out anything made with at least some KAF! Never tried KAF's mixes, I like to do my own. I DO like Pam's stuff but I've tried some really pricy cake mixes, you add enough oil and egg and anything could...
  5. I'd use KAF and not Bob's Red Mill but that's just me. I don't like the taste of the burned bean in Bob's Mixes. I am really liking KAF! Good stuff!
  6. Hasn't bothered me either. I use parchment too! But sometimes not and it has never bothered my daughter who is super sensitive.
  7. Oh yes, you are going to have so much fun doing this! I actually have a pine wood "wedding" press, traditionally given for a union. My only suggestion is be sure and use some plastic on both sides. You need NO oil even though you can do lots of stuff to those tortilla, green chilies, cheese, onions, flax you name it you can add it to the 'masa'. BTW, nothing...
  8. Just bought a burr grinder at Costco. $30 Now is your chance to try one and we all know you can take it back if you don't like it!! Good for beans, rice, flax, groats. It grinds pretty darn fine if you ask me. I am so glad I read the posts about Bob's Red Mill. Never could figure out why it tastes so funny! Thanks fellow non glutenrs! I am learning so much...
  9. Ya, so I went to the local health food store and saw the $8, ice-encrusted, SMALL loaf of bean flour. You play long enough on these sites and you pick up a lot of stuff. Not hard to get a bean to make bread. I know you want to sell bread. I hear you but there has to be a better delivery system. I haven't given up on your bread yet, maybe a different...
  10. Just saw the cutest meatballs with swirled mashed potatoes on top, made to look like cupcakes. Very cute and oh so healthy! Kids are so much fun to cook for!
  11. How about Strawberry Banana Fauxgurt? I found it www.athomewithginac.blogspot.com 1 banana 4 strawberries, chopped 1/4 cup coconut milk (from the can) 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1/4 cup diced pineapple (if you wish) Mash banana, add berries, coconut milk and mix add chia seeds, mix. In the fridge overnight and you've got a healthy meal.
  12. foodgawker.com has tons of ideas w/ great pics. I have found you must type gluten-free to see all of them! That hypen means everything! Good luck to a great picnic. Apples with different "dips" made from other fruits goes well around here with that age group. Kids love to decorate!
  13. Not true about Amazon, IT IS NOT FREE SHIPPING! I checked and tried to order, still charged $14 for shipping!? No matter how much I ordered. The flour is NOT coming from Amazon, they are only the middle man.
  14. That was going to be my reply, sell it and buy another. I grind brown rice with a Melitta burr grinder, cost me $16 at the local Vons. I know this is not what you want to hear.....
  15. I think you did GREAT. Somewhere I read to let it rise for two hours?! I have tried many times to get an Artisan loaf!
  16. Ah, but your hands will love it IF you use EVOO!
  17. WHAT ABOUT THE SUGAR!!!!???? My biggest peve is the sugar. Everything tastes like Sara Lee! YCK!
  18. Last time I bought Foster Farms meatballs (for potluck) there was a feather in one of the balls. Now, I KNOW turkeys and chickens have feathers but I sure don't want them in my meatballs. From that point on I made a vow to myself, nothing in the can or jar is gonna pass my lips again. You can find a recipe on the Internet for anything, no need to buy cans...
  19. After trying to blend my own, buying mixes and grinding (nobody ever said anything about a burr grinder, mine was $16 at my local Von's) my own, I'm done. Now I want to know WHICH store-bought blend is the best? How about the best for my health? All this white stuff gets me down. I will be ordering from Amazon so I have to order more than $25 worth to make...
  20. I have been reading a lot of posts and here's my question: WHAT is it that makes Domata and King Arthur's blends work so well? I have tried to blend my own after mixing the flours, to get it super fine. I have a $300 food prossesor and it can't do it. What REALLY gives to getting this stuff to rise? The Europeans do it really well! I like all those...
