  1. Well, is that good or bad?? I'd take a black hole over a volcano, I think (as long as I am not inserted into the hole because then I'd get spaghettified and that is ugly ).
  2. I know the exact sensation you are talking about - stomach feeling calm when hungry. Drink water. Don't bloat on it, just keep it in your stomach. Set an alarm - 8 oz or less (or more) when it starts to empty. I HATE eating to get rid of the burn, or to raise sugar levels (that may be another thing that triggers it - crashing sugar). I don't know how...
  3. Eat what makes you feel good. The BIGGEST factor for me was NOT having an empty stomach - kept the acid at bay... Best method for me was water and crackers. Eat/drink to keep something in the stomach... Eat before you're hungry. Keeping something in your stomach isn't a minor change - its a flat out challenge. Have you considered that by constantly...
  4. I know this goes against all common sense, but eat something high protein, high fat, and greasy - like fried chicken (gluten-free and whatever else free you need to do). I also had horrible reflux, and ulcers... And to this day I LOVE something fatty to settle my stomach down. Of course, most of my issues were probably gluten related (couldn't do spicy...
  5. Your reactions sound like mine - one time something big, next time nothing - and trying to figure it out is awful. I have hand shakes, pain and neuro plus DH....but rarely a GI reaction. Makes tracking the cause very difficult.
  6. I was making a funny....unfortunately the doc wasn't.
  7. Traditionally, stomach bugs hit me harder than other family members....but I haven't had one since going gluten-free. Probiotics always help me a lot, with anything stomach related. Hope you feel better soon.
  8. Sigh. I saw a Rheumy years ago when I was dx'ed with Hashis. She said as long as I felt good, not to go back. I am not currently taking Omegas...I could add and see. I think potassium was also tested and was fine... I noticed the shaking was worse Sunday (after improving for days) - the day after I ate out. Started thinking, in addition to stress...
  9. Did you ask the doc for citations and studies on that one?? The part where everyone has a reaction to gluten... Honestly, I think the doc's credibility has been blown with you. Find a new one....that you will trust.
  10. If you can find Kind+ bars try one. IMO better than Lara.
  11. Oh yes, try to have fun! I know it's ridiculous to tell you to relax, so I won't. But DO have fun!!!
  12. I can't express how "ungraceful" I've been my entire life. Not to mention my lack of a center of balance (I'd flunk a sobriety test sober).
  13. Big hug. I know this is exhausting and stressful.
  14. The only way to know is to try...
  15. The OP can answer for herself but I will chime in on the desperation to alleviate DH.... Uhm.....when I am in the middle of a DH episode there is absolutely NOTHING more important than making the itching, pain and burning stop. Not to mention the longing to have your brain not constantly occupied by the mental challenge of stopping your hands from scratching...
  16. No. I am really weird about my cookies....I have never ever liked any other pb cookies other than this recipe. It's VERY close, closer when they cool off. It will work.
  17. Converted my "regular" peanut butter cookie recipe....not bad. I hate that gritty aftertaste, though. Wonder if sorghum added to KA would help??
  18. Potatoes and Pasta (Mark Bittman). Yum-o with brown rice pasta!!!!
  19. I've tried a variety of breads but I like Udi's white sandwich the best. Otherwise, anything "French". The other thing is gluten-free sausage, potato scrambled in a pan, then pour the whites on top and cook till set. Anything to disguise the egg whites. I cringe when I see them, too. Especially after the iodone thing. Ugh. Also, do a scramble of egg...
  20. Yes, breakfast is hard low-iodone. I scrambled egg whites and ate them with gluten-free toast, or on a bed of refried beans, on hash browns (or cube some potatoes and roast them, refrigerate, take them out for breakfast), or seasoned with Tabasco or salsa. You can do gluten-free, milk-free, egg white only pancakes... Add protein on the side. I ate lots...
  21. I have a sneaking suspicion the gluten intolerant roommate couldn't care less, and trying to embarrass him/her won't do a bit of good. Subtleties are lost on those in heat.... If the gluten-free roomie is not being gluten-free, it will backfire soon. Just be patient...don't abandon gluten-free habits in the shared house yet...because s/he will be back...
  22. Early on it could be anything (I'm referring to dinner), your body is adjusting 200 things right now.... I'd concentrate on getting the leftover gluten out of the kitchen and take it from there. If you notice repeated problems with broccoli or pork then worry about it. Btw, for me it would be the pork....they put preservatives in most pork these...
  23. Milk/casein is the most common alternate food intolerance associated with gluten intolerance, it seems. Try cutting out milk for a few weeks and see how it goes.
  24. Whatever Hubs fixes me???
