  1. I second MedicAlert. In addition to the info on the bracelet, you can put a detailed history in the online system, so when they are called they can provide that information to the providers.
  2. Tylenol is, at least the regular and extra strength. Don't know about Advil. There's a list of gluten-free meds - google it and I bet it comes up.
  3. It takes time. Remember HE is adjusting too. You should have seen my husband's face the first time I refused to kiss him after he ate gluten. How's THAT for messing up a romantic evening???? It will probably hit home the first time you get sick. When my husband saw how sick I got wine tasting (another topic, but be careful with alcohol now it can really...
  4. I saw results (meaning my rash started to heal) in 3 days going iodine free. HOWEVER, I had been gluten-free for almost 2 months when I went in the low iodine diet. It took about 2 weeks for the sores to fully heal - and I only developed (or didn't heal) two small spots that now serve as my. "warning spots" that raise up when I eat too much iodine or encounter...
  5. Yes. Yes. Yes. If you search "Disney" in the boards you'll find information about restaurants, etc.
  6. Ya know, bad yeast infections can wreak havoc. Keep searching on the board and see how your symptoms line up.
  7. Country Life brand makes gluten-free vitamins and supplements, and is well tolerated, reasonably priced. Efa is essential fatty acids.
  8. I wouldn't email. Call him or talk face to face. These things tend to get out of hand on email, I've found. I don't have advice otherwise. Little Miss Hostess would darn sure be on my list, though.
  9. Here are the tests: Open Original Shared Link Print this out and take it with you. Tell her to get a lab sheet and WRITE IT OUT. don't let her put you off again. After you get the tests find a new doctor. Get copies of all your paperwork and labs first - not just these but ALL of them. You should still be ok at 1 week gluten-free but opinions will differ...
  10. So, I was curious and asked my ND about the Metagenics product. She knows a rep for them (who is also Celiac and an ND) and this is what she said and reco'd to me: They are top-of-the-line as far as supplements go.
  11. I like VaniCream.
  12. I've had odd palpitations for about 3 years. Going gluten-free helped 75% go away. Adding iron and vit d, which I was deficient in has apparently resolved the rest.
  13. If you have DH make sure you list iodine as am allergy. Dentists can use iodine in packing.
  14. Ate you keeping the food journal???? Write it down. Write downeals and any good or bad experiences.
  15. Have you had your thyroid checked? I can't see your signature, I'm on my phone. Some people have some of these symptoms from hyperthyroidism.
  16. Well I'm glad it helped. Hives are not unusual in Celiac patients. It may take more than one antihistamine...just like more than one swig of Robitissin. Ice packs may help, too.
  17. I didn't say not to take antibiotics. Neti pots help the congestion out much more effectively and gently than blowing. It also helps prevent cracking and bleeding in the sinuses since the water moisturizes the sinuses. It also helps reduce allergic reactions during allergy season. I've found the ear pain is usually from an angle issue during irrigation...
  18. Get a Neti pot. Best thing ever for sinuses and colds. And allergies!
  19. You didn't mess up. And unless you feel bad it's all good. It's just a risky place to eat, but no riskier than going to a regular restaurant and choosing a "gluten free" item when the restaurant doesnt specifically have gluten-free standards/menu in place. And quite frankly, THAT'S always a lively topic of debate. Some restaurants that advertise gluten...
  20. Was this on the deli or prepackaged from a factory/frozen? I don't see any gluten ingredients listed. If it was the deli you must think of it as "restaurant food", so cross contamination issues can arise. I believe Whole Foods openly says their delis are not gluten-free friendly ( meaning they don't care if they cc you). If it was frozen from a factory...
  21. I just want to chime in on the steroids.... My experience wasn't good, and I think I'm still dealing with the consequences (and may always). My dermatologist gave me two Kenalog shots plus prednisone in an effort to get rid of the ever-spreading DH. Every shot and every pill put my adrenals deeper in the hole, and probably my liver. I had a lot...
  22. First, I'm sorry to hear your daughter is going through this. Second, are you sure she isn't getting glutened? I know you're being careful but it sounds like she is very sensitive, so extra precautions may be needed. Read on the supersensitive forums for ideas. Have you checked with Pfizer to ensure Zoloft is still gluten free? It looks like it is from...
  23. You know, ironically, the diagnosis is what I DON'T lack. My ND says flat-out I have Celiac. At first she suspected gluten intolerance but the rash resolving on a low iodine/gluten-free diet did it for her. That, in conjunction with the iron anemia and vitamin D deficiency.... And the wonky liver tests...and the suggestions my gallbladder isn't functioning...
  24. That's great news!
