I got some Chebe Bread mix & I can't have cheese so I left that out. The package says to kneed it till smooth. Fine but it was like 14 octopuses had my fingers. I could not get my hands out of it & it stuck to me so badly it was ridiculous! I oiled my hands & no better. It says to divide the dough into 4 pieces & flatten them to 4". Well!...

ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis ? Pics Inside
squirmingitch replied to Azalin's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I would add that you should be actively eating gluten for the celiac panel. The top celiac centers say you should be consuming 2 - 4 slices of gluten bread or 2 bowls of gluten pasta per day for (& the time varies) 6 - 8 weeks before having the celiac blood panel. There are false negatives but not false positives & you want to make sure you do everything... -
ARCHIVED Am I Being Hypochodriac?
squirmingitch replied to bartfull's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Regular potatoes are okay as long as you peel them as the iodine is in the skin but do not use red potatoes; just use regular old potatoes. Egg whites are fine but not the yolks. Spinach, turnip greens or the like, kidney beans, navy beans, lima beans, water chestnuts, raisins & seafood are on the no-no list as well as the asparagus Prickly mentioned... -

I would be very interested in hearing how the Dapsone topical does for you in all respects. That might be something I could do myself. Please keep us updated on how that does okay? Thanks -

ARCHIVED Can 50 Mg Of Dapsone Really Make Me Feel This Way?
squirmingitch replied to mamat78's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I agree with Prickly. You need to contact your doc ASAP. Dapsone is not something you play around with. You may be one of those who can not tolerate it. There have been quite a number who have tried it but had too severe of side effects to be able to continue with it. Or maybe your dosage just needs to be lowered. But I would let your doc know right away... -
ARCHIVED Need Advice About Dh Testing.
squirmingitch replied to AmongtheFence33's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
YES! You need to be actively eating gluten for even the dh biopsy. And I don't mean eat a cracker before the biopsy. Too many have gone down that road & been sorry they didn't stay on gluten as they were supposed to. You can't outsmart or cheat by not eating gluten for a while & then eating a little at the last minute. Sorry. Sad but true. If you... -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis ( And Other Rashes)
squirmingitch replied to Chefwife8's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
And remember that dh can & all too often does still present for 2 yrs. or more after going gluten-free. When I first went gluten-free, my dh laid down almost completely & at times was gone for short periods but it can & does come back. So going gluten-free is no instant magic bullet. -

ARCHIVED No Blood Screening Results Of Dh Test Results But Drugs Seems To Be Helping...
squirmingitch replied to mamat78's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I've never read that Dapsone screws up the skin biopsy for dh but I do wonder. Anyone here who has had a positive skin biopsy for dh while on Dapsone & still eating gluten? -
ARCHIVED Light Sensitivity
squirmingitch replied to jennifer.maffei's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I agree with the humidity factor too. My hubs & I have both noticed that dampness in the air makes us itch more. Even when it's not that hot but say on a day when it's raining & the humidity is on upwards of 80 & 90% --- makes me itch like gonzo! But in the summer --- OY! I live in Fl. where humidity is king & it really makes a difference... -
ARCHIVED 5 Year Old Boy, And Possibly Me?
squirmingitch replied to Irishgirl76's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
OY! I know what that's like! I had a spontaneous outbreak that began in Sept. & lasted for 5 1/2 months --- well, I still have a lot of places but the outbreak I'm talking about was MASSIVE & I had lesions that were horrible --- BIG lesions & it got terribly painful. I now live in fear of having an outbreak like that again. If I had not been ... -
ARCHIVED 5 Year Old Boy, And Possibly Me?
squirmingitch replied to Irishgirl76's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
So that means they have the genes for celiac but not that they WILL get celiac. If I recall correctly 1/3 of the populace have the celiac gene. However --- with the family history....... How are things going now? Is your little boy still getting rashes? You do know don't you that the rash can present for 2 yrs. or even longer EVEN AFTER GOING STRICT... -
ARCHIVED Light Sensitivity
squirmingitch replied to jennifer.maffei's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Some have said the sun makes their dh go crazy. Some have not. Personally, I have not found that to be the case however, I have limited my sun exposure to very short periods of time. I WILL say though that HEAT makes my dh go crazy. What do you get in your skin when you're in the sun? HEAT. It heats up your skin. So which came first the chicken or the egg... -

Well, if you get a neg. result them you can't be sure it's truly neg. Also, I will mention that topical steroids will make the dh biopsy false neg. You said the doc ordered a celiac disease panel. Maybe & maybe not. Here is the current, FULL blood panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase... -
ARCHIVED Dh As An Indicator Of Gluten Ingestion?
squirmingitch replied to zamm0's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
That's why I refuse to eat out no matter how safe one might think it may be. The only way to be sure is to be in total control of all your own food. With the outbreaks I get there is NO WAY I'm taking any chances until all the antibodies have gotten out of my skin. -
ARCHIVED Dermatitis Herpetiformis?

It could be dh but then it could also be anything else. It's very hard to say from just a photo & you give us no other information to go along with the photo. -
MO, I do not find any trouble with corn. However, I think I have a problem with Vitamin C but can't say for positive at this point. And that's either pills or juice high in C. Have to do more tests before I could be definitive on that.

ARCHIVED Dh As An Indicator Of Gluten Ingestion?
squirmingitch replied to zamm0's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
That's almost impossible to say for sure. Only you would be able to tell.......maybe...... And that's also why it's soooooooo important to make absolute, for sure, no doubt about it positive, that you are not getting the slightest amount of gluten. -
ARCHIVED Don't Try This At Home...
squirmingitch replied to FranDaMan's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
No, Dapsone does not do any healing of your gut at all. The Dapsone only makes the dh not present --- that is all. There is a person who has posted on here who was put on Dapsone since childhood & was on it for 20 years BUT was NEVER told the dh was due to eating gluten. She was never told to quit eating wheat much less quit gluten. She went on for 2... -
ARCHIVED Earth Balance Mindful Mayo - Is It Good?
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Wow! How did he ever think that one up? Sounds right up my alley but I know what the hubs will say (he doesn't like anything). That means the other half of the avacado will be saved for ME for the next day! -
ARCHIVED Earth Balance Mindful Mayo - Is It Good?
squirmingitch replied to squirmingitch's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you again! I may have to try it. I called the health food store & they stated they could not ship/mail it to me as (just as you pointed out) it is shipped to them refrigerated & apparently must be kept that way. So now I know why I can't find any online. Guess that was just a goof that it was on amazon once. -

The sea salt & the seafood including cod liver oil since cod come from the sea are all high iodine. That's why you have a problem with it.
