  1. My hubs & I think Glutino's pretzels are absolutely wonderful BUT there's a problem when we need to be low iodine as Glutino's uses sea salt which of course contains iodine. We just discovered Snyder's has come out with some certified gluten-free products. I called this morning 1-800-233-7125 ext. 21410 to check & see what kind of salt is used...
  2. Night is THE worst! Sleep deprivation night after night after night. It may be a feature of scabies but it's also a feature of dh. A few shots of vodka helps. Besides what Prickly suggests with the ice packs keep the A/C low & very cool & sleep only with the thinnest coverings you can get away with. When heat builds up the itch goes crazy. I have...
  3. There are oodles & boodles of us who are self dx'd for the same reasons you are fed up with doctors & testing. You don't need a doctors permission to eat gluten free. You don't need any one's permission --- only your own. I will warn you though if you go gluten-free & then decide later you want that official dx ----- all the celiac symptoms including...
  4. We have a newbie, L.J., who is having major GI issues as well as wicked, wicked dh. I think it's best for all the info. L.J. has provided to remain on one thread for now so if you guys would be kind enough to go over to that thread & help L.J. out I know it will be appreciated. I can't help L.J. alone & your input is needed please. Thanks guys...
  5. L.J., I'm still working on getting you some more info. but have a question ---- Do you want an official dx or are you content to know that gluten as well as nuts are a problem for you? If you want an official dx --- how BADLY do you want to pursue that course of action? To get dx'd you have a major obstacle ---- the Prednisone ---- AND the fluocinonide...
  6. My gosh L.J.! I don't quite know what to say about your blisters! It's certainly the very, very worst I have heard of. However, I have seen some photos on the internet of dh that rocked me backwards in my seat with the intensity of them & I always think, "If that were me, I would not be able to bear it & would probably kill myself." Just being honest...
  7. Dear Jenn, I totally understand. And this sucks big time that it all comes down on you & affects your profession & then for you to be the sole breadwinner right now. Talk about one blow after another! You need some huge hugs! ((((JENN))))) Okay, you need more than the mask those guys wear to mow lawns. You need one of those weird looking "breather...
  8. Okay L.J. tell us more about your rash please. You are getting little water blisters? What do they do? Do they itch?
  9. intolerant baker, I went back & read your posts so I could see what your history was to better give you advice. I really hate saying this to you but others said it when you first posted on here ---- you are glutening yourself every day in your job. Wearing gloves is not enough. You are inhaling gluten every time you scratch bake which according to your...
  10. Did the doc biopsy for herpes? I wouldn't trust it unless he did. And why would that make the shingles dx more close to accurate? Those of us with dh can break out any time even though we are gluten free UNTIL all the antibodies get out of our skin. I'm experiencing that as we speak.
  11. [/quote Thanks, squirmingitch! I checked out that first link you provided. When I first presented w/ the leg rash, my physician's first inkling was shingles, but after she learned I'd never had chicken pox, she prescribed me an antiviral for herpes (which didn't phase it). While I know it can still be anything but DH, I am going to pursue getting the celiac...
  12. I wonder if it will help with dh? Hmmmmm........
  13. Maybe an ampersand. Simply &
  14. DH presents in many forms; not just as water blisters. And it presents anywhere on the body. I think it really throws people that almost all of the medical info. out there says elbows, buttocks, knees & so forth because we who have it know it can present any place on the body. My husbands does not present with the classic water blister always mentioned...
  15. YVW! You might look at these photos & see if anything looks like what you get/have.: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/94056-dh-photo-bank/ It is odd that you say it doesn't itch. DH generally itches like a bear! But, what other sensations do the places have? Do they burn? Sting? What? Could you take photos & post them? That would...
  16. She's speaking not only of salt but of foods high in iodine content. Dairy, egg yolks, seafood, sea salt, carageenan (algae, seaweed or anything from the sea), potato skins. See the link below for a low iodine diet, of course, you need to keep the gluten out of the diet. And you CAN have salt, you just need to buy PLAIN, NON-IODIZED salt. Open Original...
  17. I wish I had an answer for you but do not. I & my hubs really, really do our darndest not to scratch. We have had places get very, very sore but no bruising. Yes, the purple discoloration but not bruises. I will say that a feature of celiac disease is easy bruising so it may be Vit K as 1Desperate says.
  18. Pigmi, especially for you & your sugar treat: Open Original Shared Link Oh, & if you want to help others then here's what you can do. Go to this forum & post your doctor's name & city, state & the same for derm. I don't know if you got dx'd by a derm or a GI or what but if you post the knowledgeable doctors info. on that forum...
  19. For sweets ...... oranges. tangerines, apples, mangos, grapes, pears, plums, nectarines. Take apples, peel & cut, put them in microwavable bowl, a tiny drizzle of safflower oil, sprinkle with brown sugar & cinnamon to taste. Nuke for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Fast, easy & yum! And good for you! Take apple slices & put nut butters on them --- I like...
  20. Pigmi, read these threads please. they will tell you so much more than I can explain: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/41662-anxiety-relief-from-going-gluten-free/ https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/97076-its-all-in-your-head/ Pay special attention to IrishHeart's post on this thread. She nearly died from undx'd celiac. Pain? Oh she had pain...
  21. Thyroid panel --- not just TSH, but free T3, free T4 --- the whole shebang. Vitamins & minerals. Especially B's, B-12, D & iron.
  22. First Pigmi, your djd & my djd may be at completely different stages so there is no way to compare apples to apples. I did not have any pain meds for mine. They said there were no pain meds that would help. I, instead, received the steroid shots in my back/neck commonly called epidurals. The doc said there were no exercises, no physical therapy that would...
  23. It could be also that b/c Grace is a child that she gets infections in the lesions. Adults are more aware of hygiene I think as a general rule whereas kids --- well, they're kids... they get their hands in dirt & don't wash them immediately, they scratch the cat or dog & don't wash their hands immediately, etc.... Like itchy, of scores (more like...
