The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Adalaide replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
The plan was for fried chicken but I had forgotten to buy buttermilk. The milk from the dairy has been being rationed due to the tank being broken so I had to get regular buttermilk instead of making my own. Anywho, with my plans ruined for tonight's dinner and my chicken safely in a baggie of milk until tomorrow I managed to score a pork loin on sale while... -

http://glutenfreegirl.com/arepas/ I only make 1/2 or 1/4 even and just throw the whole cast iron pan right in the oven. I make them burger sized, so it makes either 4 or 2. -

Haha! I'm jealous though. None of the stores here have been having roasts on sale, not decent sales anyway. Maybe I should come to your house for dinner. -

I have been dying for burgers so I finally got myself to the store today for some shopping sans kid. I really love shopping during the day but hate shopping with a borrowed kid. Cooked up some arepas for my burgers and a pot of buffalo pepperjack mac & cheese. I scored a load of fresh fruits so I'll be following dinner with a bowl full of berries and... -

I find this highly amusing. Men are always complaining that we expect them to read our minds, yet can't just make the most simple requests of us! -
ARCHIVED Macey's Utah
Adalaide posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
For anyone with a Macey's in their area, they are again having a sale on Krusteaz waffles. They are 99 cents a box which includes the gluten free ones. Store finder is at the top of the page. Open Original Shared Link Also the same price at Harmon's but only if you buy 5. Again, just a local to Utah chain though. Not sure if this will be outside the... -

I had half an onion in the fridge so I fried it up, added some stewed tomatoes and put it over rice to go with my quesadilla. I have been neglecting my veggies lately because I have been worn down so much. I haven't been as responsible as I should be about my veggies lately and I need to knock it off. Bungee jumping is on my list of things to do one... -

ARCHIVED To Go Full Out Or Not - Guten Sensitivity And The Fear Of Making It Worse
Adalaide replied to giggleburger's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My blood tests were all negative, twice or three times I can't remember now off the top of my head how many times I was tested. But my biopsy was positive, so I am always very skeptical of negative blood tests. At this point it is my running joke that I am just a really awesome test taker. If you just imagine how sick you would have to make yourself at this... -

ARCHIVED To Go Full Out Or Not - Guten Sensitivity And The Fear Of Making It Worse
Adalaide replied to giggleburger's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There is such a thing as silent celiac in which someone had absolutely no symptoms at all. Without testing there is simply no way to know if you do or do not have celiac. Think about how scary that is for just a minute. Think about what you could be doing to yourself, all of the potential effects this could have on you long term because you simply can't rule... -
ARCHIVED I Think You're My People!
Adalaide replied to Madagascar's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had to come because I laughed when I saw this post. I find myself often mentioning conversations from here to my husband and instead of saying things like "so I was talking to the people on the forums" which takes forever to say I stick with "I was talking to my people" or "my people say" and he knows exactly who I mean. I've been calling everyone here... -
ARCHIVED Depressed About Eating A Restricted Diet
Adalaide replied to rymorg2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know exactly how ridiculous it is to not be able to eat perfectly healthy and normal food! I've had a lot longer to deal with it, it has been about 7 months for me and it also may or may not be permanent, I don't know yet. At this point I make jokes because I can either laugh about it or cry about it. I mean, I can't eat spinach and come on, how stupid... -

GAH!! It is past 3 and I have no stinkin clue what is for dinner. I have a block of pepperjack from the dairy that I get my milk from. Worst case scenario I will be 100% lazy and make quesadillas. The alfredo was almost successful. It didn't make me sick, apparently I have become sensitive not only to soy proteins but to soy oil and it made me lose my... -
It is my understanding that the blood tests are rarely wrong when they are positive, but I'm less familiar with them than some. I'm a weirdo who had multiple negative blood tests, but a positive biopsy. I guess it is great news that your biopsy was clean at 6 months! Keep at it, it's a journey not a just a sprint across a finish line. Don't let the new suckiness...

ARCHIVED Need Advice For How To Cater To Celiacs
Adalaide replied to Chef for celiacs's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
There is research to suggest that dementia and other related mental decline diseases are strongly linked to celiac. As already stated, the least bit of contamination could not only be causing her symptoms due simply to celiac, but could be making the condition she is there for worse. Either way, that would make her food responsible for what is happening to... -

No food is. I am trying to determine if it was some sort of fluke or if I really can't eat it. It is worth finding out because it is one of the hub's favorite meals. I want to make him happy, and he hates eating something he knows I love so much in front of me so he hasn't had it since the incident. I am hoping that whatever it was happens to be related somehow... -

I so love In&Out but haven't been there in forever. Burgers all wrapped up in lettuce, fries the way they were meant to be, just potatoes... fried, and shakes that make your hips 2 inches wider just while ordering. Maybe we need to plan an evening out this week. It has been a while (feels like a while) since my whole incident involving mac &... -
I was going to say a lot of what tarnalberry just said. I don't have too many problems myself, but I've struggled right alongside my husband while we try to get him straightened out. I've also noticed that while he is fine with one food, my niece may not be okay with it. A lot of what you'll find is individual discovery. If my husband grabbed a dish of cherries...

I'm sorta kinda here. I haven't been sleeping well so mostly I'm a zombie and lurking. Last night I managed maple glazed pork chops with rice and steamed corn. I had picked up a pack of 5 chops and my husband seemed to think I would cook 2 yesterday and the rest tonight. Yeah... I just cooked them all and tonight I'll throw them in the oven to get them warm... -
ARCHIVED I Feel Incredible, Whats Going On? Advice

I guess I just assumed that a doctor would have tested for whatever he was at risk for from Mexico. I suppose that is a pretty big leap considering all of our backgrounds. Hah! -
ARCHIVED I Feel Incredible, Whats Going On? Advice
Adalaide replied to houdini's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You could use this time to find a celiac savvy doctor and truly get tested for celiac, just in case. Since you have never been able to completely kick the habit it would be better to get a diagnosis if it is in fact celiac since that may give you the push you need to truly give it up for good. If it isn't celiac, there really isn't enough research done to... -

I sometimes don't think about the fact that when I'm online I'm not in my little bubble any more. This is a huge global community and even though I know exactly what I'm talking about I guess we all call stuff by different names so it can get confusing. Of course, I have this problem with my husband too so maybe its just me not making sense. Tonight... -
ARCHIVED How To Know If It's Really Gluten Free?!
Adalaide replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I wouldn't step foot in a McDonald's unless I had a gun to my head. But to each his own. If I can't eat the fries, I'm not walking through the door. Personal policy. So McFlurries? I have no idea. I never cared for them anyway.
