  1. One vial of blood is all they need to do ALL the tests. If your doc ordered the celiac panel you should have the complete set of tests. If not make sure they redo them!!!!
  2. ah.... a woman after my own heart!! I'll let you know if it lives up to the standards of which I was once accustomed!!!
  3. THANKS Carolyn!!!!!!! I tried to call but never got through.... Thanks for the info. I miss ordering Chinese take-out soooo much! I can't wait to make the sesame chicken.

    ARCHIVED Still Sick

Hi hez, I was also diagnosed in April and am not nearly ready to say I am 100%!! I am definately alot better than I was and I am encouraged by that, but still have alot of things that have not gone away completely. I guess it just takes time for our bodies to heal....Hopefully they will soon Hang in there!
  5. OK...You sound like a classic celiac.. If I knew nothing but"I feel better when I stop eating gluten" I would say yes to celiac but you have soooo many more classic symptoms. Please do not stop eating gluten until you are tested. It can give a false negative. There is gluten in so many things you would never expect so maybe your attack was caused by something...

    ARCHIVED Slurpees

Coca-Cola and Minute Maid flavored ICEEs are gluten-free!
  7. I'm sorry you feel so bad There is a nasty stomach virus going aroud. My 3 year old had it.It lasts for about 24 hours and caused her to throw up alot!!! Her doc said it is going around. Maybe that is what you have and it is completely unrelated to celiac.
  8. TUMS will not gaurentee that they are gluten-free so don't use them !!!!! Zantac is safe to use.
  9. I too love chicken salad with grapes!!! I just add helman's or miracle whip salad dressing to the chicken until moist then toss in lost of grapes cut in half. If she likes walnuts toss those in too. It is very yummy!!!
  10. Thanks Kaiti, It is 103 degrees here in Texas today and I think a tall glass of lemonade would hit the spot!!
  11. Hi everyone, Anyone know for sure if minute maid lemonade is gluten-free? There seems to be conflicting info in some of the previos posts here!
  12. oops.....The best thyroid tests are Total T3, Total T4, and TSH....... The free T3 and free T4 can be affected by alot of non-thyroid stuff......
  13. A positive dietary response is a big indicator for celiac. I say keep on with the diet but if you want a positive diagnosis via Enterolab you need to be back on gluten for a couple of months.
  14. Your values are only minimally high so maybe you don't see the effects yet. Yes a high TSH means low thyroid function and you need to keep an eye on your levels. There are also exceptions to every rule so you might be a thin person with hypothyroidism. I would get the full thyroid panel done....free t3, free t4, and another TSH. There are other thyroid tests...
  15. A GI doc can sometimes tell by looking at the folds in your small bowel if it is celiac. My doc was pretty sure I had it without the biopsy results. Maybe he thought it looked suspicious and took some samples.
  16. Hi Jocelyn, Welcome! Yep..... ALL your symptoms sound like celiac disease!! If nothing else your skin rash is concerning. It sounds like DH but of course can't be sure without a biopsy. I had DH for years while doc after doc told me it was exzema........ If you don't have the money for testing try the diet. If it works and makes you feel...
  17. Everything looks ok to me. The caramel color should be fine if the seasoning is made in the USA. But if I can't find out the answer for sure on this board I always call the company. They are usually very happy to check into it for you.
  18. I would carefully rescreen EVERYTHING she is eating, but it just might be taking awhile for her level come down. My level dropped from 187 to 25 in 3 months but kids just might take longer. If you are certain that she is 100% gluten-free I would ask for another screen in 3 months and see where it is. But the good news is it is coming down, and she is doing...
  19. I finally got through to Hillshire Farm and they confirmed that they are gluten-free!! Apparently they too will list any and all allergens. Another easy meal!!
  20. Anyone know if the little smokies from Hillshire Farms are gluten-free??
  21. Hi Janelle, -Kraft Ranch is gluten-free. Kraft products will not hide anything -Reese Peanut Butter cups are OK -Betty Crocker Potato Buds are gluten-free -I have yet to find a mainstream canned soup that is ok. There are some at healthfood stores -Tootsie rolls are also gluten-free I'm not sure about the other stuff. I believe dairy...
  22. Hopefully things will just keep getting better on their own! I agree with you that I would much rather treat without drugs of any kind but it is good to know there are some treatments out there. Keep us posted! and if you need any info on the treatments I would be glad to help (hopefully you won't ) Sue
  23. Hi Kaiti, That is very good news!! I treat alot of people with Graves Disease. I work in Nuclear Medicine and we do alot of the diagnosing (along with the bloodwork) and radioactive Iodine thearapies for Graves. It is never good to have it but it is treatable for those who do. I am glad your levels normalized and hopefully they will stay that way. Just...
  24. I have had lower back pains for the last couple of weeks but not sure why. I have been gluten-free for 4 months now and this is the first time for this particular pain. It feels like menstrual cramps (sorry boys!!!) but not at that time. Who knows... Hopefully it will go away soon! I hope you feel better! Sue
