  1. I'm sure others have gotten this e-mail, but wanted to let everyone know that they have created more Triumph Dining cards. In addition to the previous ones they now have added: Italian, Greek, Vietnamese and French. I'm really psyched because I was just thinking 2 days ago how I really want to go to Italy next summer and wish I had a Triump Dining card...
  2. I live in Tarrytown!! LOL!! I grew up in Northern Westchester (Pound Ridge), lived in Hartsdale for a few years after college and just moved to Tarrytown about a year ago. What a small world. Ok yeah, I definately know where Riverhead is. I'd say it's anywhere from about 45 mins. to an hour from there. I hope your uncle will go for you....
  3. I've never heard of Aquebogue, and Jamesport is in Suffolk right? East Meadow is in Nassau County. I'd guess it's probably about an hour away. That's about how far I drive to get them and I would definately say it is more than worth it, but (this may be a stereotype, but I find it to be true) if something is more than 15 mintues away people on Long Island...
  4. Thanks! Yeah they tried telling me to take the OTC stuff first and I told them that I tried it once and it made me violently ill (I wasn't lying). They then told me that just to make sure it is a yeast infection to maybe try using Aveeno for a few days and if that doesn't help to call back and they will give me the Difulcan. So I said fine, went downstairs...
  5. I know I mentioned these after attending the Suffolk County Celiac Vendor Fair, but I just bought my first package this past weekend and had one of the bagels from Joan's Gluten Free Great Bakes. OMG!!!! Words can not describe how awesome they are. You would seriously think you are eating a normal bagel. I mean I remembered the sample I tried being good,...
  6. Ok this is not a pregnancy question, but it is definately a question for woman and I didn't know where else to post it. I figured you ladies would know. Does anyone know if Difulcan is gluten free? I think I have a slight yeast infection and I wanted to ask the doctor to prescribe it for me. I only had a yeast infection once before and used the over...
  7. I'm 28 and was diagnosed just over a year ago, but was sick for about 10 years.
  8. NO!!! Most definately not.
  9. I'm really going to have to 2nd chocolate; but in the spirit of contributing something new - ice cream!!! (particularly Haagen Dazs Rocky Road, and Ben & Jerry's Pistachio, Chuncky Monkey and Cherry Garcia). Ok and this one is lame, but rice. I love white rice. I know, strange.
  10. Just wanted to let anyone in the NY area (or anyone that was planning to come for a visit) that Risotteria is closed for vacation until Aug. 25th (pretty sure that was the date). I went to have lunch there on Friday and there was a sign up. If you were planning on going in the next couple weeks maybe just call them and I'm sure their voicemail will...
  11. I'm sorry that happended and you had such a horrible experience with them. I've actually had several great experiences with them and think their stuff is incredible. It is very expensive, but even my non-celiac husband who is extremely picky about his pizza, loves theirs. I'm in NY so I've never had any problems with delivery, but I'm sorry your cake...
  12. The bread recipes in Annalise Roberts book are great. I only made the submarine sandwich bread but it was DELICIOUS!! Also try ordering the bread from the Gluten Free Bread Basket. www.gfbreadbasket.com I've had the mock rye, country sandwich and italian herb bread, and all are incredible.
  13. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! It feels great, doesn't it. I also just passed my 1 yr. anniversary.
  14. I went there once when I was first diagnosed and although I had a good meal and didn't get sick I'm a bit to afraid to go there now that I know how easily things can have cross contamination. That place is always crazy busy and I just think the chance to get sick is way to high.
  15. I haven't tried it but the pie crust from the Gluten Free Pantry seems to be a favorite on here.
  16. I've used this recipe for spinach dip. I just substitute the flour for some corn starch. It's not a quick thing to make but it's incredible. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Yes and no. I never forget I have it, but at the same time I pretty much know what I can and can't eat and it's not until I want to try something I've never had before that I'm reminded that I have celiac and have to read the label before I can eat it. So I guess like some of the others have said, I don't dwell on it but I'm always aware of it.
  18. I'm really sorry to hear that one of your 1st experiences with us was so negative, but I'm glad you returned. I don't know what I would do without the people on this board. For starters I think I'd be eating only bananas and white rice. But I truly think we have an extremely supportive, patient and intelligent group. There are always going to be a few bad...
  19. Believe it or not I once got really sick from the Gluten Free Pantry Truffle Brownie mix and although I haven't eaten it again I'm not afraid to try their other products. I'm not sure why or how I reacted to it, but I did. So I just stay away from that product. I'll occassionally eat the rice cakes, but I'm leery of Quaker.
  20. OMG, Exactly!!! It's like part of NY culture that you go out drinking to ridiculous hours and there are still places open to get a meal afterwards. I was just feeling sorry for myself yknow. Yeah I'm also naturally really thin, and nothing like having a bunch of drag queens staring at you wondering why the skinniest girl at the table isn't eating...
  21. That is the cutest cake ever; I love it!!! Wish Timothy a happy 3rd birthday
  22. I use San-J also. Actually just had a great stir fry with San-J for dinner.
  23. I don't normally complain about having celiac (or about anything really), but I literally spent the majority of Saturday night moping. This isn't really a complaint as much as a vent and I just know you guys will understand so I just wanted to share my feelings with people that will understand. I had a bachleorette party for a friend and they chose to...

    ARCHIVED Starbucks

I've never gotten sick but I actually take a little glance at the lid at both Starbucks and Dunkin Dounuts whenever I get tea. You're not crazy for thinking about the possibility; I do too.
