  1. It's not exactly a NY bagel but I'll occassionally eat the Glutino sesame bagels toasted with either veggie cream cheese or peanut butter. I haven't tried it yet, but I know in this months edition of Living Without Magazine there is a recipe for bagels. I found a copy of the mag. at my Whole Foods. If you can't find one I'm sure you can call the company...
  2. Ok I'm not a teen but I saw this topic and wanted to offer support. I actually know how you feel. I absolutely love when my friends will try my food, and to be honest I think a lot of what helped me get through the initial rough patch when 1st becoming gluten free was having a handful of friends that would take the 1st bite for me and sit and critique...
  3. I bought this one as well as the Triumph Dining book. The Triumph one was definately better. I agree with Cassidy. Don't waste your money on it.
  4. Has anyone tried Authentic Foods pancake mix? I was thinking of ordering it and wanted to see if anyone has any feedback on it before I do. I tried a bread that had been made with their rice flour and sweet rice flour that was excellent (like normal bread) so I figured maybe some of their other products are worth a try too.
  5. What kind of granola do you have? The only one I tried was by Enjoy Life and I hated it.
  6. I hope it happens. I heard about this awhile back and have called Bell & Evans a couple times. Originally they told me they would be in stores April 24th. Then when I called last week they said they should be in stores any day... still waiting. I really want to try these.
  7. FYI, this website is owned by CondeNet, a division of Advance Magazines (Conde Nast). Their food titles are Gourmet and Bon Apetit.
  8. Oh that's right, Wild Oats does carry it.
  9. DH's family is Italian and I find the best way to deal with them is just ignore their ignorance. Sure I try and educate them (but after they've offered every dessert on the table twice you kinda catch on that it's a lost cause). Then I just laugh my butt off after we leave reliving all the idiotic questions and comments they made during the visit. I am really...
  10. LOL!!! So funny. My favorite are the Toasted Marshmallow.
  11. I ended up finding the recipe for Junior's Cheesecake, which was my favorite cheesecake. Instead of making the spongecake layer on the bottom I took gluten-free ginger snap cookies and pecans and crumbled them up in the food processor to make a bottom. I made it for my brother's birthday who is also celiac and everyone loved it; there was not even a tiny...
  12. Whole Foods doesn't carry it (maybe we should ask if they will). But I have found a few stores near me that have it so I buy it there. Check out: www.namastefoods.com Although one of the stores I buy it at isn't on here.
  13. I use the McCormick Taco seasoning, add a can of red kidney beans and 2 - 8 oz. cans of tomato sauce, bring to a boil and let simmer for 10 minutes. I don't like spicy stuff so if you want this spicy feel free to doctor it up.
  14. Awesome!!! I'm thinking of trying to make a cheesecake (ChelsE I'm really fond of the recipe you sent) and if it goes badly calling Carvel and getting a Fudgie the Whale minus the sprinkles and crunchies.
  15. Does anyone know if Fudgie the Whale (from Carvel) is gluten-free? I know carvel ice cream is fine, so I assume Fudgie is. Anyone know for sure?
  16. My brothers birthday is Saturday and I've been put in charge of the cake. He also has celiac so ofcourse I will be making a gluten-free cake. He doesn't really like chocolate so the fabulous Namaste cake is out, but he does like Cheesecake and Carrot Cake. Anyone have a good recipe? There are no other intolerances and I'm not concerned about making it low...
  17. To be honest, I have great success eating out. (knock on wood). I eat out all the time. In fact I rarely ever bring lunch to work. Most days I either get a salad from our cafeteria, a lettuce wrap, or grilled chicken and veggies from the salad bar. And every so often I'll go to a local deli and have them make me a lettuce wrap. But I'd say atleast twice a...
  18. Well I am happy to report that one of my co-workers just started talking about that Celiac was on House last night, and she was definately one of those people that totally didn't understand the disease and kinda thought I was making it up a little I think. But she was all excited just now talking about what she learned about Celiac and how it affects the...
  19. I didn't know they own PF Changs, but Fleming's does own Outback.
  20. You guys are quick!! Thanks Jen and Karen!
  21. Will someone PM me a recap of the show. I wasn't home to see it.
  22. I have been told my previous GI who diagnosed me that often times someone with Celiac is lactose intolerant because of the damage to the villi. Once the villi heal a lot of people are able to tolerate dairy more. I definately found that was the case with me. Although dairy will still occassionally bother me, it is a more rare occurrence.
  23. Check out the link: Open Original Shared Link
  24. I think you'd be totally safe at any of them. Since it's your birthday dinner though, I vote for Capital Grill. Splurge a little
  25. Thanks babe!! I didn't eat them. I would never intentionally eat something with gluten in it. I just figured if I could get enough people to give me the go ahead I wouldn't feel bad trying it y'know?! Anywhoo, I made my self a big Namaste chocolate cake with vanilla frosting instead to ease the pain. LOL!!
