    ARCHIVED Problems

It probably was the batter. I would make the gluten free pantry's truffle brownies next time. They are so much better then regular brownies. The only thing is freeze them for about a half hour, then cut and put on the plate. They are much easier to cut when partialy frozen. My gluten eating husband would kill for these.

    ARCHIVED Dogs

When I lived in Illinois, we had a neighbor who's daughter got a pit bull as a puppy. This girl was a vet and was certainly not scared to have a pit bull. I still talk to my old neighbor's and they tell me that the dog is now 7 years old and still a sweetheart. I also think it has to do (in most cases) with the owner and how the puppy was raised. Yes...
  3. You are right Lisa, in that most do not want to even try to cook for us. We seem to be a selfish society and when someone's illness or whatever becomes "work" then it is easier for people to ignore it. It does not speak well of the human race, but that is the way it is. That is why we have narrowed our friends down to the ones who do care. As far...
  4. We also find the same thing. They are afraid to cook for me. I did go to a Halloween party for a couple hours on Saturday, but I brought my own beer and ate before I went. It was just safer for me. I had a good time and I was trying to show people that I can still go places. We do meet friends at restaurants for dinner and that has worked out well. ...

    ARCHIVED Citrucel

I take the Citrucel caplets, I am sorry to say. A new problem and am seeing a GI right before Thanksgiving. They have no gluten in them.
  6. OH, the kids look so cute. Thank you for sharing. Hugs
  7. I am so sorry for both of you - Nikki and mommida. It is so hard to lose a family member and they are family. You might try reading the poem Rainbow Bridge to your children as it is so lovely and does help the heartache.
  8. OMG Richard, I am still laughing. I liked all 3, but I agree with Karen that the 3rd guy does not look inpressed at all.
  9. Welcome to the forum Amy. It sounds like you have the diet well in hand. Just remember when you do have questions, we never consider any too dumb to ask. We have all been where you are, whether with kids, ourselves, friends or spouses.
  10. Welcome to the forum. I can't help you with an elimination diet as I have never had to do one. My food allergens rise up and strike me in the face. So, it has been pretty easy for me to figure out what I can't eat. Again, I welcome you and hopefully you will find any answers you need here. You seem to be doing well and keep up the great work.
  11. Welcome to the forum Valerie. The forum is slow on the weekends and others will post with lots of help, probably starting tomorrow. I am really tired and am heading to bed now, but I did not want you to think that no one cares. As we are a very caring forum. I will answer one question and that is about the pizza. I buy Kinninnick (sp) ready made pizza...
  12. Have you tried the Tinkiyada pasta. It is really good. I feed it to the my husband and granddaughter. They say they can't tell the difference. I am the one gluten free. I don't know if this is doable for you, but we bought a second inexpessive frig and keep it in the garage. The freezer part holds all my gluten-free mixes and my gluten-free flours ...
  13. I get corn free pickles at a Wild Oats subsidery called Henry's.
  14. I also can't help. But, I did want to take the time to welcome you. I am sure that someone will be posting that has the two conditions. We are kind of slow on the weekends, so please be patient.
  15. When I first went gluten free, I found a recipe for a gluten-free flour mix. I made a double of it and stored it in the freezer. It was easy to just take out what I needed without always having to make more. I have bought some pre-mixed gluten-free flours but have not used them yet. And I am also not a Betty Crocker.
  16. We have a friend that invites us over for barbecue. He cooks everything he makes for me on tin foil. Even though he has just cleaned the grill, he thinks there would still be a cross contamination issue. He can even cook me a fantastic steak on foil. So, I never have food from someone's grill but his. And of course ours. We downsized and our last home...
  17. Welcome to the forum Justin. There are many people here who will be glad to help you. I really don't have any advice as I did not go through the addiction withdrawal. By the time I got my diagnosis, I was almost 62 and about 2 weeks away from NO recovery and that was according to the the GP who diagnosed me. I do understand that gluten is very addictive...
  18. I am glad that it is all over for you. Don't you wish we could be as resilient as children. I am wondering if the reason your Mother is not speaking to you is because you have been diagnosed with Celiac. And there is guilt on her behalf because she did not know this and get you tested, when you were a child. You are now testing your child which shows...
  19. That is so great Jen, that you had a wonderful trip with lots of safe eating. I forgot you were gone. Sorry for any emails I sent during your vacation.
  20. Just wanted to say welcome Raymond. This is a place to find answers to any questions you might have. And we never consider a question stupid. Like Lisa said if you are going to be tested then you have to keeping ingesting gluten.
  21. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Lisa. May today be extra special for an extra special person. HUGS.
  22. That is great news Tanya. And I love that she ate a hairbow. Because you now know she can eat also and not just drink liquids. LOL This is my second post here as the other went somewhere. It is those little gremlins that get into our computers and this one must have been hungry.
  23. One of my doctors was telling me that a friend of his in medical school got diagnosed with Celaic Disease and the only thing he had was DH on the scalp and only the scalp. He had no symptoms at all. Just the terrible rash and itching on his scalp.
  24. Thank you for sharing this Richard. It was a good article. I read it, instead of listening - he he.
  25. For those of you that are within driving distance of All Ways Healthy Health food store in Lake Zurich. I have to tell you that they are definately familiar with Celiac and the gluten free diet. Carole the owner has been gluten free for many years and by choice. When I was first diagnosed, I called her from AZ to ask about things I could eat. She directed...
