  1. It is apparently pretty common - from: Open Original Shared Link "Q: I feel hungry all the time. Is that normal? Yes, it is very common. Your body is making up for the time it wasn't fully absorbing foods. Hunger levels tend to normalize within the first months after eliminating gluten and beginning a well balanced diet of gluten-free foods."
  2. While any site is not perfect, this is the best site I have found...run by a pharmacist. Open Original Shared Link
  3. The AGA IgA and AGA IgG are the least sensitive/specific Celiac tests. Better options are the tTG IgA, EMA IgA, and if you are IgA deficient, the tTG IgG. Newer tests like the DGP IgA/IgG are apparently better options than the AGA tests.
  4. I put mine back in the pot on the stove on low.
  5. Open Original Shared Link Info on survey states: "The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA) has a dual approach in our work with celiac disease: To gain a diagnosis for those who suffer with celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, and to improve the quality of life for those who have been diagnosed. This survey is geared to help NFCA and...
  6. And, there are newer/better tests in place of the AGA test: anti DGP Open Original Shared Link
  7. All plain (fresh/frozen) meats, poultry, fish, seafood are gluten free. Give us some examples of things you would normally cook, and we'll help you convert them. Many 'normal' foods are either gluten free, or can be made gluten-free with one or two conversions. (chicken soup, tacos, ...) Here is some info the help - use them all and food shopping...
  8. You are a good mom!
  9. Keep in mind it doesn't diagnose Celiac, but can indicate a gluten sensitivity.
  10. Yours is there. I just don't think each person has their own, as they can't PM themselves. Others see your envelope icon under your name. I'll PM you in a second to make sure yours works.
  11. Penn State (not exactly California, though). Your best bet would be to contact schools you are interested, and ask to speak to their Dining Halls staff.
  12. Here is the best overview I've seen of gluten-free flours: Open Original Shared Link Many people just choose to use a prepackaged gluten free mix, so that you don't have to work with various flours/xanthan gum (and yes, you generally need it or guar gum). Pamela's, Bob's Red Mill, Jules Nearly Normal, Better Batter, gluten-free Pantry, etc are just some...
  13. I woud venture it was eating out. Until you heal a bit better, it may be worth it to only eat food you have prepared so that you know it is gluten free. I don't know how they can say they guarantee no cross contamination when they are putting soup into bread bowls. Hang in there...it will get better!
  14. I've had it - its pretty good, and they were very careful about preparation, etc.
  15. Good luck! I was diagnosed during grad school .... it is tough to juggle it all. If you weren't already tested, you may want to talk to your doctor about vitamin/mineral deficiencies that are common among people with Celiac (especially when you are undiagnosed/just starting the diet) because of malabsorption. Immodium can help cut down on some of...
  16. One of the pros of the biopsy is that they are looking for other things during the endoscopy - they could find Celiac, they could find something (or more than one something) else, or they could find Celiac + something else. Many "something elses" may not be found if not for the endoscopy.
  17. Keep in mind some Celiacs can't tolerate even gluten-free oats, too. You may still just be sensitive to some foods that are gluten free because you haven't healed yet. What brand/type of salsa was it? Our grill was gluten free to start with, so we grill all gluten free food normally, and anything with gluten gets cooked on the grill on foil/in a separate...
  18. Keep in mind - there are no rules regulating that barley be disclosed, nor any rule that states what "gluten free" means. Any company can put gluten free on anything. That being said, here is the company's take on it: Open Original Shared Link "Is RICE DREAM Beverage a gluten free product? Yes. Although RICE DREAM Beverage is processed using a...

  21. Is the email certified gluten free? Regular mainstream brands of oats are not safe for those with a gluten problem. I wouldn't be comfortable doing that. Its a tough learning curve and you are doing great....hang in there.
  22. Eat very simply to give your digestive track time to heal. May want to try some Immodium to stop some of your symptoms, too. Unfortunately, there is no one magic bullet.
  23. Info on vinegar labeling: Open Original Shared Link https://www.celiac.com/articles/184/1/American-Dietetic-Association-Revises-Its-Gluten-Free-Guidelines---Distilled-Vinegar-is-Safe-for-a-Gluten-Free-Diet/Page1.html
  24. Open Original Shared Link Good article by a great Celiac doctor. Italics added. "Why no diarrhea or abdominal pain?
