  1. Well, the good news is that the tests they are going to run are the more specific of the Celiac tests (EMA and tTG are Celiac tests, the total IgA helps to understand the accuracy of the other IgA based tests by looking for an IgA deficiency.) The names listed are the specific names of the test: Anti-gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-gliadin (AGA) IgG What...
  2. One guess would be that they mean that the changes that they saw in your biopsy were "mild", but consistent with Celiac, as opposed to completely flattened villi. There is a spectrum of damage that can happen in the intestine, but keep in mind, the damage can be patchy (varying degrees of damage in different places). The combo of positive bloodwork...

    ARCHIVED Big Oops!

Did you ask what the ingredients are, and how the rice is prepared? If they made yours separately, with clean utensils, etc? Just trying to think what happened...

    ARCHIVED Big Oops!

You may have had cross contamination, since sushi places do have other ingredients that have gluten. Hope you feel better.
  5. Gluten Free Pantry also makes wonderful mixes, as well. But in the beginning, best to stick to simple foods, and expand from there. Betty Crocker just came out with a line of gluten free mixes, too. Good luck!
  6. Welcome! Happy that you have found this site for support. Are you having the endoscopy/biopsy on Nov. 10th, or just an appointment with the GI on that date? All first degree relatives of diagnosed are recommended to be tested for Celiac, regardless of symptoms. Let us know what we can do to help!
  7. Should not have gluten if all the ingredients listed are 'whole' spices that you described.
  8. You may want to be tested for Celiac, as well. And, still get records from his biopsy. If you aren't sure what to do, you may want to see a Celiac specialist that has more experience with situations like this. As great as your local doctor may be, most are not that familiar in what to do with cases like your son. What region of the country are you in...
  9. Based on the abdominal pain, he did have symptoms at one point. Celiac can be "silent" with "no" symptoms, and there is documented literature that indicates that "silent" celiac may be more common than celiac with many symptoms, but the result is still the same - remaining on the gluten free diet. If you aren't aware of how many biopsies and what the...
  10. What was the reasoning that doctors ran the test in the first place? Have they ran the other tests in the Celiac panel? Was your son eating gluten at the time of the biopsy? How many biopsies were taken, and what did the report say?

  14. If you have Celiac Disease, you cannot have regular oatmeal, as it is contaminated with gluten sources. Most Celiacs can tolerate specially grown and processed oats that state that they are gluten free. Muesli has oats in it, so it is not safe for one with Celiac to consume.
  15. Is that the only test he ran for Celiac? Does it say anything about AGA, tTG, EMA, etc?
  16. They did not run the IgA serum, which would help determine the accuracy of your IgA based results. None of the tests are perfect. You may still have a problem with gluten, even if it isn't Celiac.

  22. The only way to know is to have the skin around the rash biopsied. May want to find a new dermatologist if your doctor isn't familiar with how to biopsy for DH.
  23. Bloodwork appears to be negative, but they didn't run the total IgA, to see if you are IgA deficient (based on what you posted). In most cases, the positive biopsy = diagnosis of Celiac. Negative bloodwork doesn't mean you don't have it.
  24. According to their website (Open Original Shared Link click on: FAQs), Tic Tacs are gluten free.
