  1. Here are the main tests: tTG IgA EMA IgA AGA IgA AGA IgG total IgA tTG IgA and EMA IgA are the newer/more sensitive/more specific tests. The total IgA test is not a Celiac test, but it must be run in conjunction with the other IgA based tests. If you are IgA deficient, you cannot test positive on the IgA based tests, so it is necessary to know...
  2. The current ways to be diagnosed with Celiac are biopsy and bloodwork. You must be eating gluten for the results to be accurate, otherwise if you have Celiac and you have healed, you will likely not get a positive biopsy. The gene test can tell you if you have one or both of the two genes that are linked to Celiac. About 1% of the population has Celiac...
  3. If you have Celiac (an autoimmune reaction to gluten), then you don't need an epipen. If you break out in hives and go into anaphylactic shock when you eat gluten (life threatening), then you would need an epipen.
  4. Nikki, Happy Birthday to you, across the pond! xoxoxo
  5. Which IgA levels are increasing?
  6. You may want to post on the board asking for an experienced doctor in your area, or contact a local Celiac support group and ask who their members use. You do not have to have positive bloodwork and biopsy for diagnosis. It'll be interesting to see which bloodwork he ran. Also, there is some research that indicates that "lesser" damage (mild) isn...

  8. Glad it helped. Let us know what else we can do. This board is a wealth of information!
  9. Some of the information on page 13 is incorrect. I wouldn't use that as a starting place.

  12. We like the gluten free pantry mixes for bread.
  13. There is information that the pill cam will become part of the 'diagnostic' standard in the coming years, if not sooner.
  14. Keep hydrated - drink lots of fluids. Don't eat anything heavy that will further irritate your stomach. Tylenol/motrin for the headache, and maybe a heating pad for your stomach? Hang in there.
  15. Generally, its only symptom control. What type of symptoms are you having? Maybe someone can suggest something for you. I hope you feel better.
  16. Send a letter of complaint to the company....I would imagine that they do not think this is good customer service.
  17. Yes. I would guess most Celiacs do not test positive for a wheat allergy (IgE mediated).

Probably this discussion: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...c=58262&hl= Good work to you!
  19. You want the tTG test to be negative - that indicates his damage is healing/healed. If his numbers there were still high, then I would be concerned about still getting gluten. You had the right test done - Open Original Shared Link However, you may want to talk to them about the other tests mentioned in this file from the Univ. of Chicago Celiac Center...
  20. If you think trying the diet is worth the inconvenience of a few weeks, then yes, try it. What will hurt to try it? If its not the answer - then you keep pursuing other routes and go back to eating gluten. If it is the solution - then you have an answer! Sometimes its better to know than to not know.
  21. Nicole, Did you eat anything different today than normal? Did you eat anything not prepared by yourself? Is the fiber a new addition? I hope you feel better soon.
  22. I definitely think its the oatmeal since regular oatmeal, due to processing, is not gluten free. I hope you feel better. There are gluten free oatmeal options, including a new instant gluten-free oatmeal.

  24. If you have foods you need help finding a replacement for, let us know. Meats/poultry/fish, fresh veggies and fruits, corn tortillas, rice, beans, are all gluten free. Lots of options. Let us know what specifics you need help with. Welcome to the board!
  25. The total IgE test is not a Celiac test. None of the Celiac tests are even IgE based. You may want to ask your doctor for further explanation, but I don't think its Celiac related. The best part is that you said, "He also had a Transglutaminase IgA Antibody. His original result was 52 with a ref range <5. It is noted on the report that is "extremely...
