  11. The IgA is not a test for Celiac, but people with Celiac have a higher rate of having IgA deficiency, which your doctor is indicating you have, based on your bloodwork. In addition, IgA deficiency leads to a inaccurate Celiac blood testing, which is why it is generally run at the same time as the Celiac blood tests. Info can be found here: Open Original...

  16. This doesn't scream a positive Celiac result, but it doesn't rule it out. You are not IgA deficient, which increases the accurage of the AGA IgA and tTG IgA tests. Your tTG is negative, but often the tTG is more accurate with more damage seen in the intestines on endoscopy, so if you have lesser damage, the test is not as sensitive. Your AGA IgA is equivocal...
  17. It is probably the total IgA, based on the reference range. It isn't a test for Celiac, but helps determine if you are IgA deficient. If one is IgA deficient, then the IgA based Celiac tests are not accurate (tTG IgA, AGA IgA, EMA IgA, etc). Based on your lab work here, it does not appear you are IgA deficient.
  18. I believe you can donate if you are in good health and do not show signs of any complications from Celiac Disease.
  19. The test the original poster had done is not the Celiac gene test. The saliva tests are generally not used to diagnose Celiac. If you aren't feeling better on the diet, go back to eating gluten, and then you may consider following up and having the full Celiac panel run (which is blood tests, not saliva).
  20. Just wanted to say hang in there! Also, while you are there, ask for a copy of your bloodwork. And, before your procedure, make sure you talk to the doctor to ensure he takes multiple biopsies from multiple locations in order to increase the accuracy of the procedure. 21. The various Celiac tests do not have a 100% correlation, which is why there isn't one "perfect" test, but the tTG IgA is a pretty specific/sensitive test. You may want to discuss a follow up endoscopy with biopsy.
  22. There are some good links in the school topic - thought it was very timely! Also, the study on lowered health care costs is great.
  23. If gluten is a problem, and you have only been gluten free for a few days, it may not be one *particular* food that is bothering you, even if it is gluten free. If gluten is the problem, it will take a while for you to heal, and in the beginning, you can still have symptoms because your body isn't back to normal yet. As you know now, maltodextrin in the...
