  1. This is a list of companies that won't hide any gluten ingredients, so it eliminates any worry of "hidden" gluten. It will be clearly disclosed on the labels of these companies. Open Original Shared Link
  2. Progresso Creamy Mushroom and Progresso Clam Chowder (thick and hearty) are two staples in our house. There are a few others of Progresso that are safe as well.
  3. Isn't there another instance of one of the "mini" ones not being safe? I think I remember hearing that a year or two ago. Like a special/holiday one....snickers, maybe? Does that ring a bell? Its frustrating!
  4. This is why you are my cyber mother....... Hope you feel better, Amanda.
  5. We put it on steaks.....so yummy!
  6. If you choose to get the endoscopy, she needs to be eating gluten. Also, the endoscopy looks for other things besides Celiac. She may not have celiac, may have something other than celiac, or have celiac and something else. Its always better to know. You may want to run the Celiac bloodwork also: AGA IgG AGA IgA EMA IgA tTG IgA Total IgA I...
  7. You can have Celiac without candida (as most Celiacs are). You can have candida without Celiac. You can have both. I'm sure others will chime in with other information.
  8. This is a blanket statement that does not apply to many, many people. There are various reasons why people are in pain, and for many, taking out all grains does not provide a solution. There may be a significant medical reason besides food-related problems.
  9. *knock on wood* I'm doing REALLY REALLY well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When was the last time you heard ME say that? (Oh yeah---two years ago this month, actually!) But I'm thinking of everyone and wishing ALL the sicknesses would go away. I'm going to have to upload pictures of my new hair. Its cut, colored, and layered. Awesome when its curly...
  10. February 11, 2008 Dear Ms. X, Thank you for contacting us about Kitchen Bouquet Browning & Seasoning Sauce. We always appreciate hearing from our consumers. This product is totally gluten free. Again, thank you for contacting us. Sincerely, Consumer Response Representative Consumer Services
  11. However, the doctor can look for other reasons that he is still having symptoms. I am assuming by your post that even though he's been gluten-free for 3-4 months, he is still having symptoms. Sometimes gluten isn't the problem, or something gluten isn't the only problem.
  12. You need to call the doctor back. Ask for a follow up appointment. You'll need to know if they are planning on doing follow up testing. You can't go gluten free for certain procedures, like an endoscopy with biopsy, which confirms the diagnosis. Don't go gluten free until you discuss this further with your doctor. Also ask for which blood tests were...
  13. There is no stealing, my dear. If so, I "stole" it from others as well. Its just a great resource!!!! All great resources are fair game! Also, a note on the vinegar/alcohol/etc, issue. Many of them are not derived from a gluten containing grain in the first place. They may be made from corn, potato, etc.
  14. This is from: Open Original Shared Link "Q: I feel hungry all the time. Is that normal? Yes, it is very common. Your body is making up for the time it wasn't fully absorbing foods. Hunger levels tend to normalize within the first months after eliminating gluten and beginning a well balanced diet of gluten-free foods." It is geared more towards when...
  15. Here is a list of companies that won't hide any gluten (wheat, rye, barley, malt, or oats) in any of its ingredients. If it contains a gluten ingredient, it will be clearly listed. (i.e., don't have to worry about starches, flavorings, etc.) Open Original Shared Link
  16. A few ways. 1. You can use the search function at the top of the page (you'll see a box and next to it, it says, google search). Type in the recipe/ingredients you want, and it will give you a list of threads that have that keyword. 2. Click on the forum "gluten-free recipes-backing and cooking tips" and click through and read topics for a specific...
  17. Yes. All Celiac experts recommend that all first degree relatives, regardless of symptoms, are tested via bloodwork. Something to keep in mind....just because they test negative now doesn't mean they are "free" of Celiac for life. If symptoms arise later, it is worth it to be tested again. Here is some info you might find helpful, from a very well...
  18. Fibro was one of my many (mis-)diagnoses in the months leading up to my Celiac/gluten diagnosis. Before my diagnosis, my muscle and bone pain was so horrendous that my dr. told me that I would end up in a wheelchair within a few years. I was 23. I went gluten free, and my issues resolved. My Celiac symptoms (including the fibromyalgia/muscle pain...
  19. Stacie: It was a bag of small hearts. And "wheat" was clearly listed (not hidden). The allergen statement said wheat on my bag. Yours looks fine and is what I am used to seeing....I would eat those. No worries!
  20. Thanks for posting this info.
  21. This site may be helpful for you Open Original Shared Link The blood tests that comprise the Celiac panel are: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level. If you are confused with the results, it may be worth it to call the doctor...
  22. Having Celiac doesn't mean having symptoms necessarily. It used to be thought that Celiac presented with very clear symptoms. They know think that many people with Celiac are "silent" meaning that damage is still occurring abut symptoms are mild or non-existent. The site I posted earlier from Columbia talks about it some, also. Ask your doctor how...
  23. I picked up some Reese's PB hearts, in a bag, recently. Only after I got home did I realize they had wheat in them (whereas the regular PB cups do not have wheat). A good reminder for me to always read labels.
  24. I haven't been around as much lately, and certainly can't catch up with everything, but wanted to say hi to all the sillies!!!! Carry on....
  25. If you have Celiac, you are right-it is an autoimmune disorder. Here are some websites that I would recommend reading, to help understand more about Celiac. www.celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu www.celiaccentral.org www.celiac.org To make life a little easier when food shopping, here is a list of "bad" ingredients. https://www.celiac.com/articles...
