  1. For RA, they'll probably run your sed rate (ESR), CRP, and ANA, which are all autoimmune and/or inflammation related. For fibro, there is no blood test. It is a set of symptoms that occur together.
  2. In terms of being gluten free, soy (itself) and milk are both gluten free. Some people *may* have problems digesting certain foods until they have healed from the Celiac damage. However, that is a different issue than determining if something is gluten-free. I would say it depends per person, how you can tolerate certain foods.
  3. The nutritionist that works with Dr. Alessio Fasano, who is a leading Celiac expert at the University of Maryland-Baltimore's Celiac Center. www.celiaccenter.org for info on scheduling an app't. (My mom heard her speak at a GIG meeting and she was apparently great)
  4. Happy Birthday, Scott. Thanks for all you do.
  5. Carla, I'm adding my, "hang in there" for you also. Rach, look forward to hearing about your app't. Hi to all.....so busy on here lately!
  6. I take Azithromycin, the generic for Zithromax. Made by greenstone. It is gluten free.
  7. Try hitting the F5 button.
  8. I'm back----and yall have been busy! xoxo
  9. MG: I worry about you, my dear. These symptoms seriously worry me. I don't have a lot of good advice, but I'm sure someone on here will. And you are NEVER EVER EVER a damper. EVER. This thread has health related and silly moments, but what draws everyone together here is their search for improved health, whatever the reason. Many, many, many...
  10. I'm getting ready for our trip and will be leaving ... won't be back til sometime Tues pm. I hope T's appt went well, Andrea. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!!!!!
  11. I use Bob's Red Mill mix and follow the recipe pretty closely on the back. Except we bake it in two small loaves instead of a bigger one. Open Original Shared Link We use the regular gluten-free flour from them and make banana bread, in small loaves, also. I've posted my banana bread recipe on the forum before....if you can't find it through a search...
  12. Darleen, Just wanted to welcome you to the board. You are a good mom for being involved! I agree-Dr. Green's book is a wonderful resource. It covers everything! Encourage him to come on here and read. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Best of luck to you and your son! (By the way, I am 26, and having a supportive mom who...
  13. I have a bread machine, but it doesn't have a gluten-free setting.....FWIW, my best bread is made in the regular oven. Hopefully others will chime in about good bread machines.
  14. Agree with Richard. All Celiac experts agree that all first degree relatives should be tested. And to add to that, even if all family members test negative now, it doesn't mean that the negative test means they'll always be negative. You can "get" Celiac at any age, so it may be worth re-testing periodically, even without symptoms, and most certainly...
  15. Ryan---you give so much to Alex. I think the vast majority of board members are happy to see a family member so supportive of the one with Celiac, especially after all Alex has gone through. Those with supporitive family members know that it makes SUCH a huge difference in their quality of life. Alex is lucky to have a caring partner, and I know everyone...
  16. saldwal, Are you in America or Europe? Labeling laws are different and it would be helpful to know.
  17. I vote for Bob's Red Mill.
  18. from www.celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu (under "for doctors" and then "biopsy") "Pitfalls in the biopsy diagnosis of celiac disease These include: 1. Inadequate number of biopsy pieces. The disease is patchy, this combined with the fact that all biopsy pieces may not be oriented sufficiently to assess the crypt to villous ratio means that at least...
  19. Agree with the above poster....If you are in Arlington, VA, go to Dr. Alessio Fasano. He is another leading Celiac expert. He is a pediatric GI at University of MD's Celiac Center in Baltimore. www.celiaccenter.org for more info on scheduling appt's, etc. Being this close to him, I would definitely see him. I live in VA, feel free to PM if you would...
  20. I'm back, and it was very easy, so I survived. The tech people were great, and agreed that I have non-existent, horrible veins. Judy---Canadian Karen has one of the forms of microscopic colitis. I have some info on it, as I was tested repeatedly for it. I'll find it and send to you. Happy that you survived as well! Thank you for all the encouragement...
  21. I'm finishing up the barium, and we'll be on our way out soon . Patti---I hope the abx is ok. Maybe this will surprise you---and you'll be ok? (hoping, hoping, hoping)
  22. never tried them, but i like other of her products Open Original Shared Link
  23. Usually the barium is given for various scans so that they can see your insides. Last year I had the barium swallow, which means you drink it and they look at your digestive track at timed intervals. This time, its for the CT scan. I almost forgot how yucky this stuff is.
  24. Im about to start drinking the barium.....who is not looking forward to this
  25. I was looking at this tonight and thought of you. They mention scalloping. Open Original Shared Link Also---from Dr. Green's site: Open Original Shared Link
