  1. I also recommend the book in my signature. And when you have time (once things have settled down), write her a letter, stating points that she said, and refute them with solid examples. Let her know that you don't think that giving misinformation is her intention. Best of luck
  2. And, all first degree relatives are recommended to be screened for Celiac. This includes parents, siblings, and kids. There is about a 1 in 20 chance that a family member of a Celiac has it.
  3. You need to look for wheat, rye, barley, malt (malt is often derived from barley), and oats. Anything that has flour/unbleached/enriched flour is wheat flour. Chips Ahoy and all 'normal' cookies have wheat in them. There are gluten-free alternatives. All regular pastas have flour in them. You'll need an alternative like Tinkyada, a rice based pasta...
  4. MiaMia, hope the chelation goes well tomorrow, my dear! Email has been sent.
  5. Many vinegars are not derived from alcohol or wheat/gluten, so maybe you can tolerate some of those? We do a quick dressing made of olive oil, lemon juice, pepper, a little bit of dill, and parm. cheese----husband loves it.
  6. Azithrymyocin is gluten free. I'm on it, have been for an extended period of time. It is in the macrolide family of antibiotics. A lot of people don't react well to it. I hope you feel better soon, Jessica.
  7. If I remember correctly, their fries themselves are safe. But because each store doesn't always have a dedicated fryer, its not on the gluten-free list....its up to each person at each location to make the decision based on the store's practices......I think thats the last I heard? Open Original Shared Link (I will stand corrected if wrong )
  8. Ask her how many patients she sees with Celiac. Ask her what conferences she has attended to keep up on food labeling laws and Celiac. Ask where you can find good gluten free products in your area. Ask if she has any books or magazines she would recommend. All of these would give me an idea of how much she truly knows about Celiac. There are many great...

  10. I second Rachel....how can you not post when you read something like that from our favorite Miss M?
  11. Unfortunately, I am so sensitive that I continuously react at any and all places that serve fries. My reactions are pretty horrible, and for me, its not worth the 1 time out of 10 that I don't get sick. So no....french fries are definitely out for me.
  12. Open Original Shared Link A good thread with some good links. Hope this helps.

I've gotten their hot dog buns, hamburger buns, and sandwich bread. I don't use the hot dog buns as buns....I cut them up and make bruschetta, garlic bread, and other snacks. HB buns I use...
  21. Not only will the endoscopy check for Celiac damage (via biopsies), but they will look for other things, to make sure that there aren't other problems.
  22. I haven't been on in the past few days because I haven't been feeling well. I have been overwhelmed and sick lately, and haven't been posted, and only occassionally reading, as I seem to be having trouble comprehending anything that is longer than three words Coming back to read this upsets me. All I have to offer is to re-read our darling Mia's posts...
  23. Meemsy, Another thought to consider: If you are extremely sensitive, it might be worth it to bring your own food. I don't risk it----for me, its often not worth the small rish, because I get so sick. I bring my own food, give it to the caterer to "plate" for me, and they bring it out with everyone else's. I inform them of this beforehand. It seems...
