  1. Oh no! (((hugs)))Good luck! I hope it isn't too bad for you.
  2. Ruptured uterus? Ouch! You've definitely got a high pain threshold now. (hug) I'm with you on this! I was trained since childhood to ignore symptoms since the doctors repeatedly told me there was nothing they could do about it. For me, celiac was present at a very young age also. Stomach pain was the norm. Ditto with the migraines. I did everything...
  3. There are quite a few poeple around here who were diagnosed with the biopsy (I'm not one); it's not that unusual. I tend to get the pain in my stomach area first (just south of my ribs) and then the bloat is more of a generalized belly area thing. Everyone presents differently though; for instance I had chronic C rather than diarrhea. It really varies...
  4. That's great. Congrats on getting it down to 13! That number reflects a great effort to stay gluten-free... very nice. I know you said your TSH is normal, but did they check your free T4's or for TPO Ab? I ask because I've had my thyroid checked every 5 years or so over the last 15 because I suspected a thyroid problem. I was tired, always cold...
  5. I developed an external hemi about 15 years ago. My bowels were always slow (although I didn't realize they weres slow because they had always been that way... if that makes sense) but that was helped when my hypothyroidism was treated. I've been fairly lucky in that it doesn't seem to get inflamed very often. Good luck.
  6. psawyer - that picture in the link you posted made my mouth water...
  7. ((HUGS)) I would recommend only using up a few of the favourite gluten items and tossing out (or giving away) the rest. Every time you feed him gluten you will be hurting him. Perhaps let him use up the last of the cookies or gold fish crackers, but bin the rest as soon as you can. It will make it much easier for you to cook if you have gluten-free...
  8. Yes... But it didn't start until about 5 years ago. As a child, I wasn't any more forgetful than the average kid, and as a young adult I had a great memory for things. I'm not sure if it's celiac related or not. My kids can be incredibly forgetful. My 9 year old can forget his shoes... not sure how he managed that. LOL
  9. I'm sorry you've been feeling so poorly. It's hard to go through all the testing when not feeling up to snuff. Is your Immunoglobulin A reference range correct? If it is, I would say that you look to be deficient in IgA; you are in the bottom 2% of the range. If it is correct, I would say it's quite amazing that you managed to test positive for ttg IgA...
  10. Ah, you poor dad. He's having a rough go. If he goes gluten-free, some symptoms could resolve in a matter days, and others might take months or years. Speaking from my own personal experience, my reactive stomachaches to gluten stopped when I stopped eating gluten, my stomach upset and bloat disappeared within the next week or so as did my migraines...
  11. Your poor little guy. Everyone has given you good advice, but I just wanted to add that I was diagnosed on symptoms and a high ttg IgA and EMA alone. No biopsy needed. I responded well to the gluten-free diet so I consider it case closed. I would be partial to skipping your son's biopsy and going gluten-free unless you need that official diagnosis for...
  12. I found the Lab Tests Online site very helpful for linking tests to AI diseases. This site discusses the ANA test and what it indicates: Open Original Shared Link This site discusses the ENA panel which is basically what they've run on you: Open Original Shared Link Hopefully your symptoms are celiac related although it's hard to tell since so many...
  13. My son is now just going gluten-free now. Our last box of Cheerios was finished. I did have him tested for celiac and his tests (ttg IGa, IgA, and EMA) were all normal. Because of his symptoms he is going gluten-free with me, along with his two brothers. And yes, I argued the symptoms with him but he was edging out the door as I was doing this (he...
  14. Hi Gemini. Thanks. I appreciate your advice. I know our labs are out of date but I don't have any real options. In my city, there is only one lab provider and since we are in Canada, there is no competition. I mentioned this to my doctor a month or so ago with regards to my 9 year old son's TSH which is 4.85 (0.20-6.00); it was tested after I told...
  15. Huh, how did I miss this post? I've been living on the forum while hiding from house work lately... can't believe I missed a post. LOL Hmm, so ringing ears isn't normal, eh? Huh, well there's another thing to keep an eye on. I'll buy my tea tomorrow.
  16. That just doesn't sound quite right to me. I rarely eat eggplant but I don't react to it. I just tried quinoa a few months ago after never eating it and I was fine. Just because one does not regularly eat a food, doesn't mean one will react to it. KWIM? If it is a food that you are predisposed to react to, then you will appear to have a more severe...
  17. Someone on the forum, I can't remember who, told me that their GI doc told them that celiac can cause a positive ANA too. I'm not entirely sure that's accurate as the only documents I can find on the topic say otherwise. Anyway, it could be something to consider too. It is hard to wait isn't it? I've had some abnormal tests in the past and symptoms that...

    ARCHIVED I

That happens to me in the autumn. I'm in a really dry climate though; semi arid. Plus I have Hashimoto's hypothyroidism so that makes my skin much drier than most people's I always have cracked fingers, feet or knuckles. My husband told me I could never be a foot or hand model... Oh darn! LOL If it continues, you could have your thyroid tested. I'm...
  19. I started this thread because I was concerned I might have lupus because of my symptoms, past AI disease history and past lab work. My recent lab work points away from a lupus diagnosis (see above posts), but now I FINALLY got the results of my ENA panel that was done 3 weeks ago. My lab sheet said: I don't know what their normal ranges are...
  20. Hypothyroidism also has the same symptoms as celiac. TSH and TPO Ab should be checked to see if his thyroid is slow or under autoimmune attack. If he is eating gluten, you should get him retested. If he has nonceliac gluten intolerance (NCGI) that could affect his overall health and you'll never get a positive blood test for that. Have you considered...
  21. Wow. That's really disappointing to hear about gastros like that... A crying shame. It sounds like almost everything he said was wrong. Sheesh. The others gave you great advice so I won't add more. I wish your daughter the best. I hope she continues to improve on a gluten-free diet.
  22. You're special! LOL I believe the connections to viruses or bacteria. As a teen, I had a double case of mono and pneumonia, and then 6 months to a year later I developed ITP (thrombocytopenia) which made me critically ill. 15 years ago I had quite a virus, and then a few months later I had my first arthritic like attack; it could have been the start...
  23. No no no! LOL I have yet to find a really good substitute for Brewsters stout... or Guinness? Forget about it! LOL It could be because I am in Canada that they are harder to find, but that's hard for a Canadian beer snob to admit since (ahem) I don't really like American beer. ... Don't hurt me! lol Greens is good but it still tastes like...
  24. Interesting... Perhaps it accounts for those with the transient autoimmune reactions by the low probability that someone would be experiencing that at the time of testing. Or perhaps they based that specificity number on only healthy individuals; maybe they did not include those who had had an infection in the last 6 months? ... I'm just guessing...
