  1. Mine aren't related to a B12 deficiency (I think) because my B12 exceeded the normal range. I am apparently not iron deficient either.... Everyone presents so differently...
  2. LOL Poo-crete...snort. LOL We call them rabbit pellets in my house.
  3. I've had purple colour under my eyes for ever. It's reddish on the edges but closer to the bruising colour over all. I hope someone else can give you more answers.
  4. I do have a thyroid problem but I noticed some great regrowth after I had been gluten-free for a couple of months. I was super excited but then I had a thyroid flare up and it thinned again. My cousin, who is a celiac with no other issues, had thin hair for years and after a couple of years gluten-free, she has beautiful thick hair... it's quite a noticeable...
  5. Like GFin DC said, I was a (undiagnosed) celiac as a child and had many symptoms but those symptoms largely went away in my teens. I still got some like headaches and aches but my stomach wasn't too bad at all. By my late teens I developed another AI disease and another in my early 20's. Not good. So, my symptoms did go away for a while even though...
  6. Welocme to the board.... but sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I ate a fair bit at first but I'm not sure if it was because I was hungrier or I felt deprived so I ate more to prove I wasn't. I ate a fair bit of junk at first and then I tapered off. Now (5 months later) my appetite is actually a bit down. Best wishes settling into the new diet. Hang...
  7. Oy is right. LOL Hope you're feeling better.
  8. I used to get the jitters quite often before going gluten-free (normal blood sugar too), now it's not so much but I eat a LOT more protein and that keeps me full much longer. So if I eat eaggs for breakfast, I'm fine for hours but if I have a slice of toast I often end up with jitters before lunch. I'm guessing that adding protein(and fats) to your meals...
  9. I'm glad your surgery went so well. I hope your recovery continues to go smoothly. Best wishes!
  10. I'm sorry you've been feeling unwell. I agree with what Lisa (Gottaski) said. Double check all your celiac tests (get copies) and finish testing if need be. As GFinDC said, it could be NCGI, which is just about as nasty (minus intestinal damage) but harder to diagnose. Thyroid problems like Hashimotos causes symptoms similar to celiac disease. I have...
  11. Congrats on the new job! I hope it's going well. ...and (hugs) about that lab. Geez. How frustrating for you. No wonder doctors get sued, eh? Humph. My doctor did that to me with my TSH test over the last 10-15 years. I undertsand your bitterness. Knowing you have lost years to poor health needlessly is incredibly maddening.
  12. My appetite is way down too. It fell off at about 3 months into the diet. I don't even bother with a full size dinner plate now, I just use a salad plate. And ditto the others on the testing; if you are gluten-free you will probably test negative because your body will stop producing the autoantibodies. Intestinal damage may still be evident in a...
  13. (hugs) I'm sorry to hear you are having a hard time now. I have a harder time making the effort to cook well when I don't feel well, and then when I don't eat well I don't feel well.... a really bad cycle. I have read about a link to eating disorders with celiac. In fact, my cousin who was diagnosed 10 years ago in her 30's suffered through anorexia...
  14. I'm not great with remembering all the tests but I do remember these: calcium B12 (many B's can be affected) K ferritin (iron) D (you did this one right?) Thyroid testing - Most doctors just run a TSH but with Hashimoto's the TSH can be in the normal range (mine was and they missed it for about 15years). Request a TPO Ab, Free T4, and Free T3...
  15. .... What Burdee said. TSH is the thyroid stimulating hormone. It's numbers go up as your thyroid function goes down. The problem is that the numbers in the normal range often include those with symptoms of problems so doctors ignore the symptoms and go with the lab numbers. Plus people can have a pituitary that's not working great and a poor functioning...
  16. My fatigue is from the hypothyroidism, and since it's so common, I'll ask about that. What thyroid tests did you have? If it was just TSH, I'd check again unless it was about a 1. My doctor just used TSH for years when I would ask for my thyroid to be checked. I was uneducated about thyroid health at the time and accepted that as a good test... Boy was...
  17. Glad things are... moving. LOL I'm in the same boat as Burdee. I had "C" and rarely had the urge to go. I was disappointed when that didn't improve with the gluten-free diet. Then I found out I was hypothyroid and after a few weeks on the meds, things got moving (but still cold, tired with the low BP and pulse... hmph). It could be coincidence but I...
  18. Milk gets to me too. I usually use coconut or almond milks now; they're not too bad. A serious milk sensitivity can actually cause villi damage too, but I think that's the casein that causes that... not sure though. It could be the oats too. Many celiacs have issues with oats even if they are of they gluten-free variety. Be careful what oats you use...
  19. Looks good to me. Do they run a total serum IGG test too? I've never had the IGG tests done so I'm unsure if that's required like it is for the IgA tests.
  20. LOL I better behave better!
  21. I was hoping going gluten-free would solve all my problems... it didn't and I was a bit disappointed. I already knew I had issues with lactose. No biggie there. I'm discovering a problem with nuts that I didn't notice before, but otherwise I have been lucky and haven't found more intolerances. I don't eat much processed foods but when I do, I note that...
  22. You're right, Hashimoto's can cause a positive ANA too. A bunch of the AI disorders do. I would look at getting your thyroid levels to a good spot for you. As you know hypo symptoms match many celiac symptoms (and others) and could be making it more difficult to diagnose your problem. My thyroid is not being well treated yet so I still don't feel really...
  23. So far it has decreased some of my boys' symptoms: My 5 year old used to visit the bathroom up to 8 times a day, and often during a meal. He's down to a couple of times a day now. My 10 year has noticed a decrease in his stomach pains and headaches andI've noticed that he is able to concentrate better on his school work and he's gained a couple of pounds...
  24. Oh yes! This used to happen to me all the time when I was undiagnosed. I had to make sure I ate something every two hours or I got the shakes and was light headed. Hypoglycemia is a symptom of celiac. My fasting blood levels were normal too. Now that I've been gluten-free for 4 months, that rarely happens anymore. I can go 6 hours before I notice that...
  25. Blood tests usually take about 2 weeks. It sounds like endoscopies often take a couple of weeks to analyze. You'll probably know by mid December. I have had slow steady hair loss with celiac. I used to have very thick fine hair. My hair is pretty brittle and thin now. If you look at me straight on, you can see my scalp about 1-2" back from my hair...
