  1. Ok... you all have thouroughly confused me now! LOL
  2. I'm in Canada, and I buy Wizard's gluten-free Organic Vegan worchestershire sauce... It's very good. I'm not sure what my SIL used but whatever it was, it didn't get me. I nervous for a while though. lol And my sister in laws brussel sprouts were cut in half, fried with bacon pieces in olive oil with rosemary and w. sauce. So good! It tasted like...
  3. If vitamin D deficiency is a concern, a sublingual vit D tablet is all you really need. Dairy does not naturally have vitamin D in it naturally (as far as I know) so when you consume it, you are essentially taking a supplement in your food. Calcium from dairy is not easily absorbed. Calcium form plant products is a much better source of usable calcium for...
  4. That's hard to say... three weeks isn't a very long trial period. I actually felt worse for the first couple of weeks as my body adjusted. It took a few months to really start feeling consistantly better. I would advise you to try a longer gluten challenge after getting blood tests for celiac. You need to be eating gluten for the tests to be as accurate...
  5. I noticed that my stomach aches that used to happen when I ate gluten didn't happen if I, well, didn't eat gluten. That was immediate. My bloating started to go away within a few weeks but it would come back. It was pretty much gone after 2 or so months. My migraines were gone pretty soon too; within a few weeks. My hair regrowth was noticeable within a...
  6. I have been so lucky this Christmas! Everywhere I have been to eat has made accommodations for me like letting my table go first at a buffet dinner at the Banff Springs Hotel, not batting an eye when I bring a cooler full of treats to a kiddie party, a friends' party that was over 90% gluten-free, and then my sister in law made an AMAZING gluten-free Christmas...
  7. I had "C" as soon as pablum was introduced and was into the doctor in my early childhood because of my chronic stomach aches. I can't remember as many stomach pains when i was a teen (migraines started instead) but they came back as an adult. I developed other autoimmune diseases, and other symptoms until I figured it out and got myself diagnosed this past...
  8. It is possible but to be honest, your symptoms also sound like hypothyroidism to me. How are your Free T4 and free T3 levels? Are they in the upper half (about 75%) of your labs normal range? Constipation is a sign of celiac for some but it is for hypo sufferers as well. I'm guessing that's what caused your bloody stools... that's happened to me many...
  9. I went through a lot of that too, including the acne. I ate a tonne for about 2 months, and I lost 10 lbs doing it, and then my appetite dropped way down. I'm now not nearly as hungry as i was before going gluten-free. It really is great to lose the migraines isn't it! Mine weren't as bad as yours but I had days where turning your eyes hurt, and when...
  10. My guess is how much we react is the issue. If you compare it to hay fever, some people react really badly and sneeze, swell, get running eyes and noses, hives, and feel horrible when there is pollen in the air, others might just sneeze a few times. Wheat is probably an irritant to many but is only really bad for some... but that is just my guess.
  11. Hang in there with the diet, the first couple of months are by far the hardest as you get used to what you can eat. Once you get it figured out, it really is pretty easy to cook gluten-free. Going out to eat is trickier but not impossible. It is important to be totally gluten-free to get the full benefit of the diet. If you are consuming gluten, you will...
  12. Good luck with your blood tests; I hope you get clear results.
  13. The tests are negative but you might want to retest them every few years if they continue to eat gluten. Celiac can manifest at any time, especially after a trauma or serious illness (like mono) so you'll probably want to keep an eye out for symptoms. My boys all tested negative but my youngest visited the bathroom 5-8 times a day and my oldest had stomach...
  14. Your joint pain sounds a LOT like mine. I creak and pop, rarely swell, and the pain moves after staying in one location for a few months... usually. It began in my early twenties and comes back every few months but some of the pains stick around now; for example, I haven't been able to lift my left arm over my head without pain for six months now. When...
  15. I would get them tested too, and I would go one step further and make them gluten-free too. I had my boys tested and they came back negative but 2 of 3 of them showed some possible symptoms of gluten intolerance (emotions near the surface, short stature, tired, always hungry, stomach aches, and too frequent bowel habits). I slowly made them gluten-free...
  16. Yeah, I agree with the others that your doctor's logic is faulty. If he is doing an endoscopy to find out what is bothering you NOW (nausea), then why would he want you to eat gluten which hasn't been a factor in your life for a year and a half?? If you ate gluten, it could cause more damage and mask any other problems that are going on.... I think you are...
  17. I get lazy typing, sorry about that. By AI I meant autoimmune disorder. When I was undiagnosed, I always had "c"; the opposite problem you have. It did not improve until I was treated for hypothyroidism (which often causes "c"). Sometimes it's not the celiac disease but something else that causes symptoms. The annoying part is waiting for things to change...

    ARCHIVED Warts

Ditto what Adalaide said, warts get no air and the irritation (skin sill turn white and die off) helps get rid of them. I've heard that oregano oil works on warts. I'm planning on testing it out on my son this week.
  19. You all have spent too much time in the malls or with 24-7 Christmas carrols... you're cracking! Maybe we should just take back the title of "Picky Eater" and be done with it... If you tell someone you're a picky eater there isn't much they can say to that except, "oh." I just came back from a kids Xmas party where we could only eat corn chips...
  20. Ouch. I don't know anything about diverticulitis, but I wanted to mention that your symptoms sound very much like my celiac symptoms: Pain within an hour of eating, bloating for days (people have mistaken me for pregnant... and I'm only about 10-20lbs overweight). And I too lost weight only on a low carb diet. I would get tested if I was you. I...
  21. Have you had your platelets checked? If you get low on platelets you can't clot properly and you'll bleed in odd ways. Thrombocytopenia it's called. It's just an idea... Hope you find answers.
  22. Withdrawl really affected my mood and concentration. I was very hungy, grumpy, tired, grumpy, headachey and grumpy... did I mention grumpy. I've given up coffee before and it felt like that... just completely off kilter. It's like something has gone wrong with your thinking and you know it's not right but you can't change it. It took about 2 weeks for...
  23. I found my reaction to lactose became more obvious after going gluten-free. It caused me the same sort of pain... could it be another food sensitivity like milk causing the problem? Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.
  24. I actually didn't replace much. I kept my toaster oven (scrubbed the rack first), as well as all of my cooking utensils, tupperware and colanders. I did by a new cutting board, but it needed to be replaced anyways because it was splitting. I went through all of my spices and if it said natural flavour or spice, I tossed it or researched it. I went through...
  25. LOL I'm "manly" and ignore the symptoms until a while after I should have gone to the hospital. LOL I ignored celiac for 30+ years. I don't think acquiring an AI disease has to do with being highstrung. I've been called laid back to a fault so I know it's not the case for me, although I wouldn't doubt that a stressed person would end up with more symptoms...
