  1. Upper and middle stomach mainly.
  2. My last endoscopy showed my gut was healing well and that I have excellent control over my coeliac diet, BUT only a few weeks later I started with the usual tell-tale cramps in stomach etc. I thought it was cross contamination, and with the help of a food journal whittled it down to three possibilities. Now I am not so sure, as I have not had any of these...
  3. I agree with a lot of the comments above, regarding stress, as I too have had similar experiences. Also, having a partially sighted mother, it occurred to me, that perhaps, some how, you are being glutened due to your father not being able to see what he was doing. Does he have free reign in the kitchen? Especially when you are at work? It's just a thought...
  4. Don't forget, even if you go down the Dandelion tea route, still drink plenty of water!
  5. Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding! The only thing I would recommend is drinking plenty of water and limit your salt intake, also probiotics are useful for keeping your gut healthy. You may want to limit carbohydrates too, but don't be too strict with yourself. (Foods with yeast in can cause bloating.) Water rids your body of toxins and some...
  6. It's really odd how everyone has different symptoms with it. At the moment, the stomach cramps have gone, but I feel like my lower intestines are throbbing - presumably as it moves down the digestive tract(?) I have started to think that I may now have more food intolerances than I had before though. I looked at the Paleo diet, but am holding off at the...
  7. Would you mind me asking how long your symptoms last, and what they are? I think I have accidentally been glutened, and have felt ill for nearly 2 weeks now and still don't know the cause. I am very strict and cautious and don't know how it has happened. (Currently doing a food journal).
  8. I'm not sure if that was a good idea, as even if you don't have any symptoms it is still damaging your gut if you have celiac disease. However, that can't be changed and I would say that everyone is different and no way of telling for certain how long it will last and if it can be a delayed reaction.
  9. I'm being open minded about everything at the moment. I am keeping a food journal to see if anything shows up on that.
  10. Thank you, you have just reminded me that I used to take probiotics, but in recent months have stopped. For some reason, it hadn't occurred to me - this can happen when you have lots of health issues. I shall recommence to see what happens.
  11. I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago, after being ill for some time and recently received a report saying my gut is healing well after further biopsies. However, recently I have started with stomach cramps again, and 'throbbing' in stomach & lower down - the 'usual' trips to the bathroom etc. I have started keeping a food journal again, but I'm mystified...
  12. You shouldn't have to go through pain and illness just to prove it to your 'friends'. I had to eat gluten regularly for 6 weeks before my diagnosis and in was hard going, I can tell you! You should not have to 'prove' anything, you know your own body. Also everyone's different when they have accidentally consume gluten, BUT, are you sure you have only been...
  13. I'm afraid your husband is right! Your sister in law is being insensitive and selfish. She is coming to stay at your home for a week, where, as a guest, you will be taking care of her and her family, then she expects you to go and eat at some place where she knows very well your will be unable to eat anything? What? Stick to your guns, and make sure she...
  14. It could be IBS. - you can have both Celiacs disease and IBS. I have both. I was told that stress causes IBS but more fibre in your diet helps correct it. We all know it's more difficult finding enough fibre in your diet when you have celiac disease, but it is possible. My stomach cramping comes back if I lapse into a low fibre diet. Just look at your diet...
  15. You really need to see a doctor! Before I was diagnosed I was severely malnourished, even though I was eating. I was so weak I had to walk with a stick, even just down my garden, I had no muscle tone at all and my hair was falling out. I am not trying to scare you but I would hate you to get as ill as that before you sought help. You need various vitamin...
  16. Could your problem be IBS? Everyone's symptoms vary and if you are under a lot of stress, it can make it worse. Also, do you get adequate fibre in your diet? I have both Celiacs and IBS and to begin with, found it difficult getting enough fibre in my diet, but gradually found alternative sources of fibre, which seems to help - my main problem was stomach...
  17. I can only speak from personal experience, but I too, get the symptoms you are describing, when I have been contaminated with wheat/gluten. Sometimes though, the thing you suspect to be the culprit is not at all, and it turns out to be something else. The only sure way is to keep a food journal of everything that passes your lips and a list of symptoms after...
  18. It's still very early days yet. It can take a lot longer just to start to feel well and you are already much improved, so that is a good sign.
  19. I don't give too much credence to other people's blogs, unless i know the person is well qualified in their field. For one thing she said, she 'went into anaphylaxis and had to pull over to pass out'! You don't 'pass out' with anaphylaxis, your organs shut down and need an adrenalin injection to stop you from dying! Also, she said tocopherol is a wheat derivitive...
  20. Bottled water with wheat? My goodness, I'm never come across that one before! Thanks for the warning!
  21. Just been looking into this. What struck me, was the fact you said brushing your teeth helped. From what I've learned, certain toothpastes (usually ones with additives, such as whiteners) are to be avoided. It made me think of certain food allergies like MSG headaches, where a little of what made you ill in the first place, can actually cause the headache...
  22. The fact you say you always eat the same things, reinforces my thinking that it could be a vitamin or mineral deficiency. If you don't vary your diet, you could be missing out on vital nutrients.
  23. There are a minority of people that have celiac disease whom do not get better on gluten free alone and need help from steroids. So take care. In the meantime, do you use a food journal, in case there is anything you may have missed?
  24. I can't think of any other way of describing the shortness of breath, but the weak muscle problem is something I had, and I was walking with a stick, but couldn't walk far. At the moment I have muscle weakness again and this time am wondering weather it's magnesium or vitamin B deficiency. (I have other medical conditions) at the time of diagnosis it was...
  25. I don't suffer with asthma, thankfully, but since before I was diagnosed with celiac disease I noticed that I regularly take in an involuntary breath. It's a bit like when a child has been crying, and they take in staggered breath while trying to compose themselves. I originally put it down to very low ferritin levels - which was noticed in blood tests...
