  1. You certainly could be celiac or at least gluten sensitive. Before going gluten free, have your doctor do all the testing for celiac disease, dont let him stop at blood work--ok? Feel free to email me at anytime.
  2. I just found this in a beer website, so I am going to say that hops is not wheat. None of my Bath & Body Works Lotions contain wheat or oats. I use sweet pea, white tea and ginger, honey, magnolia blossom--I always read them first, yet never have any problems with these. Enjoy!
  3. Loco_ladi--tis your call! I lived in the country, with wheat and corn fields and I have allergies, which I did suffer. Now I live on Long Island, with a salt breeze, which they say is the best there is for allergy sufferers and I still suffer from allergies. So, it's hard to say. For most of the year, you will love your new home. During harvest season...
  4. I, as a rule, ONLY use Pantene products. I have never known them to have gluten in them. I have used Pantene for the entire 7 yrs I have been gluten free.
  5. I would imagine BC/BS will cover any tests they would do for celiac disease. Find a Gastro doc and if the waiting list is long, then ask to be put on their cancellation list also. Check to see if you have a local celiac support group and contact them, ask for names of local doctors who are knowledgable about celiac disease--finding a good doctor is always...
  6. Kat, have you been tested for celiac disease? If not, request that now, if you have and that has come back negative, then certainly, go gluten free. If you felt better for a few days, then go for it, but you have to go full force. You can't just be gluten free most of the time, you have to be gluten free all of the time. A gluten free person, must be...
  7. Awwwwwwwww Deb, I wish I had an answer for you. I wish I had answers for everyone including me. Have you every checked out the website WrongDiagnosis-- Open Original Shared Link I have found some good info there. It would seem to me if your gall bladder has gone haywire, it wouldn't be unusual for your bowels to also mess up. I will ask my sis when I...
  8. I live on Long Island--Suffolk County and there are so many people concentrated in this area that it takes that long to get through the alphbet. When I finished out my call in week, I received a paper that states I will not be called again for 6 years, I have it filed away. When I lived in Michigan, I was called for jury duty in my county 3 times in maybe...
  9. I was called for jury duty this last spring and I fretted about what I would do too. I have panic attacks, along with anticipatory anxiety. I wasn't as worried about my celiac disease as I was about panicking, yet my number was high enough, I decided to just let it ride. I too am from NY and by Thursday evening, my number was 1000 away from being picked...
  10. I was so disappointed they added soy. Finally a product we could have, at the very same price as everyone else, and now they ruined it. I think we should all email them and call them.
  11. It also may have nothing to do with being glutened. Celiac disease is a autoimmune disease and autoimmune diseases may cause dry eyes, which can sting and cause blurred vision. I work for an optomitrist and I do have dry eyes. I use Refresh Gel Drops or Systane, both available over the counter. First though, you should have your eye doc take a look at...
  12. My thoughts are with you Susie.
  13. I disagree with your nutritionist--if a company will not disclose the ingredients, do not trust them. Dannon has always been secretive. I will not purchase their products.
  14. You are aqua! This is me!!!!
  15. Gluten free for 7 yrs here and I'm guessing my tummy will never tolerate much fats. I can't handle red meats, turkey, none of the brown meats of chicken, etc, no cruciferus veggies--I do eat green beans, peas, a few carrots--all cooked and some fruits--no melons, cucumbers, no nightshades--tomatoes make me very ill, mushrooms have made me ill for years-...
  16. Me thinks I will refrain from taking a night trip on that train--ok??????????? Now I know where you have been!!!! Beautiful pics, just beautiful.
  17. Nikkie--Hurray to that brave 6 yr old for sticking to the diet--that is the best beginning. She may be just going through the intial mourning we all go through. Maybe when you go out you could take some kind of snack with you--let her pick the snacks out before hand so they are special to her--something she really wants. I'm sure others will come along...
  18. I want to add here: I did not EVER say that I felt gluten was absorbed through our skin, yet I am not convinced it can't. What I said was: It can get in our eyes and mouth in the shower, I did say, I too, never have eaten my shampoo. I also said that if you use conditioner on your hair and later run your hands through your hair, then remnants of that...
  19. I started using the Hellmann's Canola Mayo because of my soy intolerance. Friday I was at the grocery store and looking for my regular canola mayo. I always buy Hellmann's Canola and it looked different. Just when I find something good, they have to change it! The ingredients list has tripled in size and now contains soy. The old label says--HELLMANN...
  20. Well Doll, you wouldn't want to bet money on me not noticing, you would lose every penny!!! All I am saying is, it is better to not take the chance--it's not more expensive, my shampoo doesnt cost anymore than any of the other good shampoos, and my bath soap does not cost anymore than the good soaps either. I rarely, almost never use generic things, and...
  21. Yes Doll, YOU "think" people are *misunderstanding* and YOU "don't" think something is being said---but that is your opinion. Ravenwoodglass on the other hand, reads these articles in a different way and that is fine too. I agree with Raven. I do not think enough is known about the many ways gluten can attack we gluten intolerant people. I also think...
  22. Karen--this is the best response ever: Oh so true! celiac3270--WELCOME BACK BUDDY. Hope to see more of you. You are always a voice of gluten free knowledge. I miss you and Kaiti.
  23. I agree TOTALLY!!!!! I have been gluten-free for 7 yrs this month. The longer I am gluten-free, the more things effect me. It doesn't seem fair, yet it is a fact of my life. People ask me HOW I can have a problem with all grains--HOW DO I KNOW, I AM THE LUCKY ONE???? It's not something I wanted in my life either, yet it happened to me. My sister is...
  24. Ok, I do not drink my shampoo either, I do however, wash my hair in the shower. It is very rare when a person can wash their hair and rinse it without getting some water on their lips and even in their mouth. Oops, you could have just glutened yourself! Conditioners always are telling us how good they will make our hair feel and how can they do that? ...
  25. I think the problem with our gluten is a problem with science. Back when the indians learned how to make flour from corn and wheat, it was a different type of wheat then what we have now. "Enriched" is not such a good word when it is followed by the word "grain". I would be in trouble if all I could eat is the list of naturally gluten free foods above...
