I have met Dr. Green in person and I think he is a great speaker. I will be seeing him again the the Suffolk Celiac's Vendor Fair on April 29th and I am looking forward to it. The link will not work for me either!

ARCHIVED Need Help With Senior Ad! Got Teenagers?

Personally, I love my signature at the end of my posts. "The calm river of your life approaches the rocky chute of the rapids - flow on through. You are the same water. The rocks cannot hurt you. Remember, now and then, that you are the water and not the boat. Flow on! Deb -
ARCHIVED Is There Something About Gluten Free Bread Etc... ?
darlindeb25 replied to buttonburger's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Gluten free flours are heavier than wheat flours. They hit my tummy like lead. They are higher in calories too, so it's good he doesn't eat as much of it. -
ARCHIVED Pork Digestive Systems Of Pigs... Does It Remove Gluten?
darlindeb25 replied to HawkFire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I honestly do not believe that any of us have a gluten reaction to meat. We may react to meat, yet it isnt a gluten reaction. I react to the fat in meat--when I did eat pork, I ate the whitest pork I could find. We celiac's do not only react to gluten. I have more intolerances outside of the actual wheat, rye, and barley. I believe a lot of this is... -
ARCHIVED So Jerry Is Very Frustrated....
darlindeb25 replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I sincerely hope my post doesn't sound like preaching, that is not my intent. Any disease is up to the individual as to how they handle their own reaction. Many diabetics do not listen when told to avoid sweets and pay for that decision. My ex didn't take care of himself and now is suffering from heart disease, he was even put on a heart transplant list... -

Excuses, excuses. I get up at 5 every day too and I work fulltime. I also am much more limited with what I can eat. I wish I could eat meat--I would love a piece of pork steak--mmmmmmmm a ham and cheese sandwich, turkey and cheese, a hamburger, even a hot dog--but, I can only eat chicken breast and a little fish. A baked potato with cheese used to satisfy... -
I know it takes me longer to recover, besides the fact it is difficult to know if it's the flu or being glutened. I have found that I do not pick up as many bugs now that I am gluten free, which is a wonderful thing.

People surprise me every day. Be honest, be yourself and if he can't deal.........he's the wrong guy. You are a beautiful young woman, and I am sure that there will be many to choose from. Momma Goose says it all! Honesty is always the best policy. -
ARCHIVED So Jerry Is Very Frustrated....
darlindeb25 replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with everyne, except for the insisting the home be gluten free. I have the disease, not everyone else. Why should they give up what they like only because I can't have it? The only time I asked my family to eat gluten free is when I feel it would benefit them. If I was diabetic, I would not ask my family to stop eating the things I can't, if I... -

These advances have been... -

darlindeb25 replied to JerryK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok Jerry, bottom line is, you are gluten intolerant and you must be gluten free. I am reading a very good book written by Dr. Shari Lieberman, PHD, CNS, FACN. In this book it is mentioned that some people can have "acquired celiac disease." I firmly believe that if a person is gluten intolerant and does not go gluten free, that eventually that person... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch

I apologize, I was under the impression they had to list the allergens separately--certainly makes it easier. -
I know that Georgie has suffered from adrenal failure--anyone else with answers is fine too. I know watching your temperature is a factor in adrenal problems. How much will it fluctuate? Does it change along with movement? What exactly should I be watching for? I know my temps are ranging from 96.2 up to 98.4. In all the times I have taken it in the...

ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch
darlindeb25 replied to Joanne11's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The 2006 Food Allergen Labeling Law is a great law, but as of yet is not truly enforced, so be very careful. I have found many products that still do not list the allergens. Some of the products that were packaged previous to the law going into effect are still on the shelf and there are still some products that aren't following the rules yet. Even ice... -
Georgie--I can't remember if you have a problem with soy--if you do, be careful with tuna. I always buy tuna in water and that water usually is a broth made with soy. Here in New York, I have only found Bumble Bee Tuna in foil pouches to be free of soy. Sounds like you may not try the tuna anyways. I always have my ricecakes at hand with my peanut butter...

ARCHIVED Not Sure What To Do
darlindeb25 replied to Swthrtpookie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree, a diagnosis of IBS is just a doctor's way of saying they are not sure what is wrong. My doctor, a very long time ago, told me that IBS stands for, "I Be Stumped". I was diagnosed with IBS 25 years ago, also, they said it could be nervous stomach, stress, etc. They didn't even try to pinpoint anything or run any tests. I was naive and believed... -
ARCHIVED Teeth Grinding (bruxism)
darlindeb25 replied to Charlieswpa's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think indirectly it is related to celiacs, yet it's the vitamin and mineral deficiencies that cause it and/or TMJ. It's not specific to celiac disease. Celiac disease opens the door for all these other ailments to walk in. I do not grind my teeth, but I do clench my jaw. Used to be only at night, now I catch myself doing it during the day, especially... -

ARCHIVED How Do You Deal With Not Being "normal"
darlindeb25 replied to alamaz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I never felt comfortable in restuarants anyways. There were always too many rules in my head and was too much work to be comfortable. I do not visit withmy friends for the food, I go for the talk and the togetherness. Food has never been an issue with me. It doesn't bother me to sit with friends while they eat and everything is fine as long as they can... -
Karina--I get my liquid B from Puritan's Pride. We have an outlet center here and the vitamins are always Buy 1, get 2 free--so I pay $9.95 for 3 bottles. They have an online website too, but I do not think they have this same sale all the time. The B-Complex liquid has 1200mcg of B12 per dose and it is gluten free. Lame Advertisement.com is another good...

ARCHIVED Recall - Frito's Chips (wheat/casein)
darlindeb25 replied to lorka150's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well Larry, maybe we wouldn't die from it, but some of us certainly may feel like we are. I remember many times before knowing about celiac and being so sick that I would simply ask God, "Please, just take me now, I can't do this anymore!" I never had thoughts of suicide, never truely wanted to die, yet sometimes, I was so tired of hurting, so tired of... -
ARCHIVED Scientists Making Fibers (fabric) Out Of Wheat Gluten
darlindeb25 replied to Nantzie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I saw this research months ago in another forum and I find it unbelieveable. I know it will happen, the fact that it is still going on means it will happen. Just like using corn to make ethanol for fuel for cars. It's been in the process for years now and it does work. Maybe, with any luck, it will be years before it is perfected. I know I would be in... -
Sorry BMW--I know nothing about nerve pressure palsy, I do know that B6 is very helpful for some neuropathies. And yes, you can take too much, so you must research it, yet it does help many. To begin with, most people with neuropathies do need additional B vitamins, not just B12, although it is the important one. Geoff, search neuropathy forums for your...
