ARCHIVED Has Anyone Had A 0 On The Ttg Blood Test?
darlindeb25 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is not necessarily true either. A good share of doctors miss a diagnosis with the endoscopy. either they do not know what they are looking at, or they do not get enough samples, so many varitables. Recently, Dr. Peter Green stated a positive blood test is proof. This is something new from him. I think soon, we will hear many new thoughts on gluten... -
ARCHIVED Horrible Slate Article
darlindeb25 replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
I feel it even more so underestimates the gluten intolerant person. He made it sound like a gluten intolerance is just a little inconvenience for those who are not celiac. Like ravenwoodglass said: The problem is, when an article like this is written, without real facts, it tends to make others think we are even crazier than they thought before... -
ARCHIVED I Still Don't Know What's Wrong With Me
darlindeb25 replied to Sandi*'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Absolutely possible to have the disease and have it be missed by an endoscopy. Dr. Peter Green spoke at one of our supoort groups last night, and he said, an endoscopy is only able to go about 6" into the intestine, and the damage could be much deeper...he says a positive blood test is a diagnosis...this is a huge change in opinion for him. Then, on the... -
ARCHIVED Problem With Coconut?
darlindeb25 replied to ~alex~'s topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Just did some researching on coconut intolerance...thank you for this thread. I started sleeping through the night when I gave up dairy. That lasted 14 days, then the problem started again. I guess the honeymoon is over with coconut. I was hoping it would be the answer, yet my tummy hasn't felt good for well over a week now. I tried blaming... -
ARCHIVED B12 Questions
darlindeb25 replied to mindyandy420's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As is true of the majority of celiac/gluten intolerants, doctors didn't believe me, or thought I was just nuts. I researched and researched. I started taking B12 9 months or so before a doctor tested my B12. I was taking 1000mcg daily then, and my level came back 1237. Over the years I increased my B12 to 3000mcg, then to 5000mcg. Last summer my neuro... -
ARCHIVED "no Gluten Ingredients" ? What Does This Mean?
darlindeb25 replied to beanpot's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
"No gluten ingredients" to me simply means, they didn't add gluten, yet it does not necessarily mean the product is 100% gluten free. Any grain can conceivably be cross contaminated by gluten. Even when GIG tests products before certifing them gluten free, the product can still contain 20 ppm (parts per million) or less, and pass testing. Some celiac... -
ARCHIVED Nutrition In General (when Affected By Celiac Disease)
darlindeb25 replied to Blondie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Every one is different. My sister says we should all add flax to our diets. I can't, flax makes me sick. I do not eat any grains, so the fiber I get is veggies and fruits. I do feel we should all be taking a good multiple vitamin, along with the fact, most of us need B vitamins and Vit D. In most incidences, vitamins and minerals are not added to... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I am super sensitive, and really don't have trouble being around others with gluten, I just keep my distance. I rarely take chances, even in the grocery stores, I make a wide path around the bakeries. Wine alone makes me sick, I can't drink any alcohol anymore. It's good you have done so well so far...keep it up. -
ARCHIVED My Brother Makes Fun Of Me By...!
darlindeb25 replied to Gluten-free-for-me's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had to smile when I read this. I love how you handled her. My brother is 51 now, notice the numbers are just turned around. Age doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the way a person will treat you. Truthfully, I can see an immature 15 year old behaving this way, it's fairly normal, especially brothers and sisters. My kids could... -

I can't, I can't do soy!!! Just had to answer Steph!!! -
ANy reactions too it. I wonder what it does to a body to get it like that. Oh, and how long did it take for you to start feeling better. I finally am sleeping through the night, yet, am still exhausted all day long. I wonder if it has anything to do with the low ferritin.

ARCHIVED Why Can't People Understand?
darlindeb25 replied to RideAllWays's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It also is very difficult for most people to understnad that which does not effect them personally. When a person looks perfectly normal, and yet has neuropathy, which can be very painful, or total numbness...others do not understand, because they can't see anything wrong. Once they suffer it, then it's another thing. This is still new to them too. ... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I havent tried Kirkman. I have used Jarrow Vitamins, and Country Life, and been ok with them. I use Nature Made Woman +50 Daily...also have used Natrol with no problems. Normal Ranges are set for normal, everyday life, something we do not really have. I have to wonder if "normal levels" are adaquate for us. I definitely know the "normal range" for... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I know what you mean. It upsets me too, it's so frustrating. People joke with me and say it's just our age, it happens, but I feel this is different. I too wonder about a vitamin I am missing. The docs check my vitamin levels, and tell me they are find, in the normal range. Yet, most are just barely in the range, like my ferritin at 22, with 20 being... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance Plus
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have 5 kids, each pregnancy was worse. The first was pretty uneventful, the 2nd, I was getting sick at night a few times a week, the 3rd, I got sick even more often, then with the 4th, I was so sick in the beginning, I didn't even know I was pregnant. I had terrible motion sickness, even a rocking chair made me ill. I didn't see a doctor for maybe 4... -
ARCHIVED Thoughts On "produced In Facility That Processes Wheat" Statement?
darlindeb25 replied to jrappene's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I never buy anything that states that. I also have very little in my diet that is processed, and live in a gluten free dedicated home. -
ARCHIVED Casein And Lactose
darlindeb25 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I read somewhere, that most cheese is lactose free, so if you react to cheese, more than likely, you are casein intolerance. If the cheese has 0 grams of sugar, there is little chance of lactose. Open Original Shared Link So, I went dairy free. The only thing left to give up was the milk in my coffee. I started drinking coconut milk on Friday July... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance Plus
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Awwwwwwww, sorry, not my intention at all. I do feel, for those of us who are constantly battling, it's always nice to hear someone else is in the same boat. I keep working at it too. Like I said, I exercise every morning since January. It exhausts me, but I keep at it. I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome in Feb, and then knew, as hard as exercise... -
ARCHIVED Similar Diseases As Celiac
darlindeb25 replied to GlutenKing's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think, for now, flattened/blunted villi is the best testing method they have, even though it also is caused by other things. If the patient goes gluten free, and starts getting better, then they diagnosed correctly, if not, they go back to start, and research the other issues that may be causing the flattened villi. It's a proven fact, many actual... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance Plus
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I too, can't lose weight by dieting. There isn't anything I can give up anymore. I exercise every morning, and walk most evenings. It's hard work. Most of my weight I would love to get rid of is in my tummy too. -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
How true it is. So many things I used to think was just me. So many times a doctor would nearly convince me it was all in my head. I took the meds they said to try, which didn't work...on and on over the years. Now, I think I will never heal correctly. I am having more trouble with my memory all the time. I try to type a word, and the opposite comes... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
I was the least picky too. There is not a vegetable I don't like. I used to love a bowl of tomato soup with grilled cheese...both out of the picture now. Maybe we are the lucky ones...bad foods are out of our lives for good. I know we are the strongest people, what choice did we have? Yeah Patti, I think the dairy was the problem too. It's... -
ARCHIVED Do You Become More Or Less Sensitive To Gluten Over Time?
darlindeb25 replied to NYCCeliacMom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Also, sometimes the reactions change, absolutely does not mean better. I have been gluten free for 9 years, and I react to the tiniest bit of gluten, and the reaction lasts at least 3 weeks. Last year, I had a reaction that lasted 3 months, and I lost 24#. I used to have diarrhea all the time, before gluten free. Once I was gluten free, if I got gluten... -
ARCHIVED Quaker Rice Snacks Now Contain Wheat!
darlindeb25 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I can't be sure anymore, but I used to eat the Caramel Corn Rice Cakes for nearly 7 years, and I don't think they bothered me, now, I am not so sure. I did get glutened once by their Chocolate Chip Rice Snacks, and I only ate 1 and 1/2, tiny little cookie shaped cakes. I was very sick that time, and never, ever bought the snacks again. When the Cracker... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
darlindeb25 replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Because of my years of eating gluten and not knowing it was what was making me sick, I have some other issues to deal with, one being sensory neuropathy. I take B12, have for nearly 5 years now, am taking Jarrow Methylcobalamin B12, 5000mcg. I still had insomnia, along with sleep apnea. 2 weeks ago tomorrow, I stopped using dairy, and started using coconut...
