  1. Noooo! Bacon is nourishing for the soul. Surely that counts? I reckon I could load the dishwasher. Not unload though. Hate that job.
  2. I have been feeling a bit off since Friday, but figured it was just my period and being (normally) tired with small kids. Yesterday I couldn't stop eating and didn't feel full, and had no energy. This morning the D arrived. Not too bad, but not good. Does anyone else get major (carb, sugar) cravings when glutened?
  3. Wow, another celiac symptom unmasked then. Might have a chat with my friendly optician..
  4. Come on in Andy, glad you found us. I am about 3 months in now, and it does start to make sense what you CAN eat. Lots of people find a fairly simple diet to start works well, meat, fish, veg, fruit. There are a ton of gluten-free foods out there, but maybe go a bit easy to start, and use these as treats rather than swap everything like for like...
  5. Just read you will be self catering too. Warburtons now do gluten-free bread and rolls, pretty good. Doves Farm do ingredients. I like their pasta, especially the brown rice one. Both brands sold in (larger) supermarkets and heathfood stores. Just watch out, both brands also do gluteny stuff!! Lewes is lovely, and not far from the coast. ...
  6. Hm, I just looked up the veggie restaurant I used to go to and it has closed. I left London quite recently and I think you should be ok. Most places have a decent range of veggie options. All the big supermarkets have gluten-free stuff. Pret a Manger good, Marks and Spencer, plus Tesco and Sainsburys around central London. Try the coeliac uk...
  7. Sounds like you NEED a safe gluten-free place at home. I don't think that's unreasonable. Maybe these particular folks need a bit more explaination about the extent you need to be gluten-free. With my Mum of small children head I might have been a bit thrown at you request, but mostly because of sleep deprivation and hormones. It might be that she...
  8. These are also symptoms of detached retina. This is a serious condition which needs checking out quickly. Especially if the lines become a shadow or curtain. Been there, treat soon if it is Edited to add, sorry, didn't spot this was an old post
  9. I have dry eyes that get watery. No, honestly. Like officially. No contacts for me either . I think I am going with denial on some other intolerances until after Christmas now. 5 diets in 6 months has done my head in! Good luck with your next stage
  10. It is raining over the pond with winds up to 55mph this evening. Hopefully that's it
  11. Wooo, congratulations Peter :) (This is only the 2nd phlipovor I have been here for. I am a bit nervous after the last.) Err, happy tree rooting
  12. Took me about five days to a week to respond when I was accidentally given wheat bread rolls, then took me out for a couple of weeks, and 2 more to fully recover. I have been trying to work out if I have been really good at avoiding gluten, or I am not super sensitive. I don't have a spare month or so to find out. Good luck whatever you decide. ...
  13. Brilliant news, well done! How good to know you are getting it right
  14. Looks like I may be superb%$@# wife from hell on this one then Been together 12 years so must be doing something right I did work out early on that by 'give me some hints what you want' meant tell me exactly what you'd like, preferably in writing! At Christmas we often get each other tickets, and then enjoy a concert or festival together...
  15. Make sure to get a copy of results, and post them when you get them. We can help you work out if anything missing. It is good you are still on gluten at the moment, much easier for testing. I had one celiac test, but a good range of other nutritional ones. I worked out some of mine were normal, but low normal. Good luck.
  16. Wow, you are way cooler than I would be!! That's at least flowers, maybe jewelry in my book. Or a book of course. Very sweet though Hope you had a lovely birthday. Good film?
  17. Great, will be off to class, spider senses on, check out teacher. Cheers. I'm getting quite excited, not sure I can wait a year!
  18. Hi I am still a bit hazy on the tests. But in the uk, and when my blood test and biopsy came back negative I managed to persuade my gp to send me to a gastroenterologist who is doing genetic testing and sending me to a nutritionist. One of the problems with tests is that you need to have been eating gluten regularly for it to work, I can't remember...
  19. Oh no, I think I've got one of each! Is it karate you do then?
  20. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely go and see a class. We have a tai kwon do one locally, and aikido 30 mins away. So much seems to depend on the teacher. I am really up for getting involved and we want to go as a family. I think it will probably be next fall then, when my girl will be 4. She is very bright and savvy. I might finally drop some weight...

  22. Dancing in the Street -- David Bowie and Mick Jagger
  23. Wooo black belts, amazing!!!! I'm doing whatever Vynscent says from now on What's a good age to start with kids? Mine are 3 and 5. One would benefit from confidence and coordination, the other discipline and rule following (!) CONGRATULATIONS
  24. I dont like Mondays -- Boomtown Rats
  25. Wow, that's amazing, so glad they were there for you at the right time. I agree we need to mention good healthcare as well as bad. Extra glad they managed to sort you out. This disease is unbelievable.
