  1. I had a detached retina, which was half off the macular. I had a piece of plastic put in my eye to push it back together, and several holes in bo retinas fixed. My eye surgeons were amazing, and I kept maybe 80 to 90 % of my sight. Good luck, stuff with eyes always seems scary, be interested to know how it goes Mw
  2. Weather great, so picnic or bbq here methinks
  3. I don't know about parasites but did notice prominent sponsorship by a company selling supplements. I would want to check the information against other sources. Did you manage to get a celiac panel done? I hope you find answers for your little one
  4. I found a baby carrier really helpful too, and just carried my 2 little ones around everywhere. Wanting to be with you is all perfectly normal. Becoming a Mum is fantastic, but tough. Can you meet up with other Mums in your area? It helped me enormously to know I was not the only one going through this. It was a running joke around here that we never got...
  5. Think I might need to work out how to be getting a hootenanny going here
  6. Chicken and asparagus. Mmm. Some things are classic combos for a reason
  7. I alternated constipation and diarrhea for about 6 weeks after I went gluten-free, and was so tired out after each movement that I had to lie down and rest. It improved gradually in that time. I did take some probiotics too. Hope he starts to feel the benefits of the diet soon
  8. Hmmm, maybe I'll have that too. No other inspiration struck so far anyway...
  9. I would do exactly the same. Good Mom in my book

  12. Check out coeliac UK. They do a directory of safe foods from major supermarkets and other stores. Maybe your brother could get it in advance for you? It lists all kinds of gluten-free food and regular food which happens to be gluten-free. There is a good range of ready meals too. I regularly shop in all the main supermarkets. My favourite brand is Doves...

  14. I went cold turkey and I am dealing with it. Better than all the rubbish it brings If you can eat it, go ahead (maybe when I am not in the room )
  15. I discovered the starch thing by accident. It is the 3 days I used to eat chocolate but can't any more!! Who'da thought potato would replace chocolate....
  16. This, plus cats doing stupid stuff, is, IMHO, exactly what all this technology is all really for.
  17. And here's Mr M with another one for you....
  18. w8in that is great news!!! Well, you know what I mean. Luckily, you turned up again while we are celebrating - this cake might be just the thing for you The thread newbie 101 in Coping with is a great place to start. So - Mr Mindwarp's Victoria Sponge Cake receipe is: 200g unsalted butter 200g caster sugar 200g gluten-free self raising flour...
  19. Hiya I had terrible heavy periods before gluten-free, with migraine, 2 days of cramping, often a day in bed, aching from armpits to knees, PMS for a week before, plus ovulation pain. It improved when I went gluten-free, lighter, less pain. When I went paleo the first month was terrible again. After that, I have made sure I had extra startch for 2-3 days...
  20. In the UK I like Doves Farm rice pasta. Penne, twirls and spaghetti are all good, and hold up pretty well.
  21. Sounds like your experiment worked, even if that wasn't what you intended..... It might be worth talking to your doctor about getting tested asap for blood and biopsy. Sometimes it could still pick it up. I didn't last long when I tried to reintroduced gluten for testing. It did convince me I had a gluten problem. I have been diagnosed non celiac gluten...
  22. Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time, but congratulations on your marriage. Wonderful, but exhausting You are right that yot will get a more accurate biopsy if you are eating gluten. It is very common, it seems, for doctors to get this wrong. Or maybe they could see how bad you were and strongly suspect celiac or non celiac gluten intolerance...
  23. I had a similar problem reacting to processed gluten-free foods. I wondered about corn, xanthan gum, soy, plus they often have extra sugar, salt and fats. Maybe you could try homebaking where you are in control and there are less weird ingredients. Good luck, it is great everyone is so supportive in your home
  24. Hi tba Well , there are some familiar symptoms there. Are you thinking of getting celiac testing, or wondering about gluten issues? Welcome to the board, ask lots of questions
