  1. As I found out last year, Coke made in Mexico is not gluten-free.

Coke sold in glass bottles and made with 'real sugar', or Mexican Coke which they have been selling here in the US as a speciality item has malt in it and is not gluten-free.

I would assume that the Coca Cola formula is consistent world wide. Would you please show your source for this.

Maybe you are referring to something other than the trademark Coca Cola.

  2. Hello all i was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago, and as soon as i knew i have to go gluten-free i did very seriously. On an average day i eat 2pieces of fuite a salad ,eggs, fresh meat and veggie. Yet still i am having diarrhea in the morning. Does it take a while for symptoms to dissipate?

Oh yes! It can take up to two years to completely heal, depending on the extent of damage. Try keeping a food diary, documenting everything that gets into your mouth. Vitamins, meds, lotions can all contact gluten. A shared toaster can transfer gluten

Dairy can also mimic gluten symptoms, so it's recommended to limit for a while until you heal some.

  3. I have seen this with my own eyes! Military Circle Olive Garden, Norfolk, Virginia

    On the Gluten Free Menu:

    Penne Rigate with Marinara

Marinara sauce made with a blend of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and Italian herbs. Served over gluten free penne pasta

It was rather bla tasting to me and I grabbed the red pepper flakes, but it's a super option for those who work and have lunch meetings. Can't complain! :) Their staff still needs educating on gluten free dining.

Olive Garden has been subject to my criticism in the past, but I am pleased with this progress.

  4. This is crazy so Im assuming that we should NOT trust or use anything that says gluten free!!! Cause it might still use something that we may get sick from..... ug I guess eat ONLY pure form foods..... basic .... this is a death sentence.... how boring..... sorry for my negativity but holy cow.... i thought all this gluten free food was safe....

I would recommend that you read this article:

The progress I have seen over the past five years had been tremendous! And I expect that the next five will even exceed that.

If a product does not sit well with you, put it on your "don't go there again" list. Trust your instincts. And what may not work for you, might be okay for others. Sometimes you have to individualize your gluten free choices.

  5. This might be helpful too :D But, please note that ingredients can change frequently. Always read the labels. Burts Bees is very good about easy to read labels.

  6. Caramel color should not be a gluten issue.

Some people have issues with dairy, while they heal.

I can't crawl in your shoes, but it took me about six months before I got a grasp on the diet. As well as learning the difference between a "glutenening" and the healing process, when every other thing I ate bothered me.

You will have lots of trials. And sometimes, answers are hard to figure out.

Chocolate, huh? Yum (my downfall), but too much of anything is hard on a compromised system.

  7. GREAT TIPS FOR HALLOWEEN! .......Booo!

Trick or Treat the Gluten Free Way.

    Have a Happy Halloween!

As Halloween draws closer, take the opportunity to prepare for an exciting gluten-free celebration by planning ahead. Trick or treating, holiday parties and school festivities can be easy with a few simple steps!

Use Halloween as a great excuse to spread awareness about celiac, sharing information with neighbors, teachers and friends ahead of time. Though people may know to stay away from cupcakes and cookies, it

  8. 10/26/09 I called Kremer Urban today - who manufactures Ompreazole and they say while that they do not use gluten containing products in their inactive ingredients, but they do not do post mfg testing so will not certify it gluten-free.

A typical CYA statement. Many companies will not list a products as gluten free unless they test and can verify it status by those means. With no gluten containing ingredients, I would consider it gluten free.

  9. . Does everyone really think their traditional doctor has their best interest in mind? Seriously..????? .

Yes, I do. If I did not, I would find another one who does.

If Enterolabs is your chosen avenue, I think that's great. For those of you with time, educate yourself and make the best informed choice for you and your family, whatever direction that may be.

My opinion is not set in concrete. I still am anxiously awaiting independent peer review of Dr. Fine's work, which has been promised for many years now. There are those who are strong supporters of Enterolabs and an equal amount of those who are not. I am not a supporter, but I try to respect those who are.

  10. I can't answer your specific question, but it's evident by your improving symptoms on the gluten free diet, that you either have a gluten allergy, gluten sensitivity or Celiac.

Enterolabs will not be able determine which of those three you suffer from. They may determine that you have selective sensitivities to various foods.

I am not a fan of the gene test, because 30% of the non-Celiac population also carry the genes, and possession of the gene is in no way diagnostic of Celiac, in itself.

Good luck with your search and if you feel better on the gluten free diet, continue on :D
