Lisa, good to hear from you again.
When will this study be conducted? It sounds interesting. Can you offer a little more information, please

THANK YOU...
Thanks guys ..i know i prob sound silly i should just stick to it anyway..its the depression kicking in i dont think and just eat..and forgett how ill i am after..
hope your all well..
xx
Of course you don't sound silly. Being ill is VERY frightening, especially if you don't know why. Try the diet and take some time here to brush up on your gluten free skills. It's often that we hear from people whose depression lifts after some time on the diet. I hope it works for you.

You and your daughter are welcome to call this place home.
I love your user name. When my girls were young, my husband would travel MANY days a week. When he would come home, and tell them to do something, both girls would say "but momma says". So he ordered me a personalized license plate that says BTMAMASZ.

Hi,
Dont know if anyone remembers me I was on here some time ago..
I fell ill two years ago had seizures, distention, fungal infections, sick all the time..
I went to a homeopath who said i had candida did her diet felty better but when came off diet was ill...
My docto wanted to test me for celiac so i had to eat for 5 weeks to do teh biopsy..was very ill and during taht time my skin started changing..had no moisture to it, pale, very dry and my cheeks wheni smiled were like crepe paper..I also have decreased elastcity in my skin ( iam only 31)..
After the biosy they sid no you havent got it, so a nurse at my department told me to keep eating it i was malnourished so i did i was so ill..I got extremley depressed and anxious as id had enough of it all..
Then I decided to try and antidepressant as i was in a sucicidal state..i took it on the friday felt very strange and was eating wrong so felt very ill..and on the sunday i dont really remeber what happened..but I had some sort of brain injury..my right side face dropped, wry neck, right sided muscl weakness and wasting..lost quit a bit of weight as well..and was on another planet..didnt know what was going on..
Ive now got a new doctor because the last wasnt helping me and wouldnt refer me where specialists wanted me to go (london hosp).
My new doctor thinks i have some syndrome neurologicla..but i went to a ciropractioner and he said you have either had a stroke or somesort of neuroliogcal disease....so iam waiting for a brain scan (happened 7 months ago) its taken so long as i went into depression and wasnt me if taht makes sense..i am trying to hold myself together because I did nearly go mad..
Even now I do the diet tw days then get down and have a peice of bread I did it last night and today swollen belly, feel like i jhave a hangover, constipated, nauseous..
Question: Do you think that may be I am malabsorbing which is effecting my skin..as the changes in my skin happened when i went back to eating normal??
I also saw another doctor who said just because it was negative biopsy iots not 100% he thinks that the antidepressants could of caused a reaction as the had maize starch in them ..??
I feel better when i have no carbs.
I also found out i have PCOS..which is autopimmune diseasee and I have blood sugar problems i think ..I put on weight very easily with carbs..and if i eat e.g. rice cakes I have massive fatigue within half hour..I think insulin is linked with pcos so taht could also be plyiong a part..
If it is malaborbtion ..if i stick to the diet can skin go back to normal once its lost some elastcity ..and if i have muscle wasting (ciropractioner said i have) would this cause slihgtly saggy skin..
I just dont know what to do about anything any more..its bad enough with the food bit but now I have a whole new problem..I have had a couple of people who think i have MG disease..which involves sudden paralysis, weakness muscle wasting etc..
Thanks for listening
If you can advice it would be very nice of you coz I feel like giving up at th moment xx
Every symptom that you described is on the list of over 200 Celiac Symptoms. But I don't think that you should concentrate on just Celiac. A biopsy can be hit and miss and is not always accurate. I would pursue the diet (and do it 100%) while you continue to seek other medical answers.
Maise starch is not gluten related.

Is the 'glutenfreedrugs' list reliable? I am going to be starting a new med. and it's on the list, but was wondering if I should check with the manufacturer just to be safe?
Open Original Shared Link
I have used it with confidence in the past. But, with all information found here, whether it be product information or other personal references, it's always good to confirm for yourself by contacting the manufacturer.

Kraft is one of the good guys. They will clearly list as in wheat, rye, barley and malt. If those words are not on the label then it's just not in there.
Wheat, as ONE of the eight allergens, by law will be listed either in the ingredients or in the allergen statement. Barley, rye and malt are not required to be listed. Here is a list of companies who will list ALL forms of gluten:

Delimex does have taquitos that do not have gluten, but I believe the ones with cheese do contain gluten. Delimex is owned by Heinz so, if gluten is not listed, it will be safe. They have a huge list of gluten free products and you can contact them by their web site.

Burt's Bees lipsticks and lip balms are all gluten free.
Many MAC lipsticks are gluten free, but always ask the consultant to look up the ingredients.
Clinique Lip Surge is gluten free AT MY LAST PURCHASE (others are not - again ask the consultant to look up the ingredients)

Raven had the answer to knowing if you are in menopause, get your hormone levels checked. And perimenopause can last up to ten years before the full onset of the big "M". I started at 35 and not sure it was related to Celiac or not.
Oh, forgot to add, that after I was diagnosed I would often break out into a sweat during a meal or snack. I finally figured out that I was reacting to dairy in any form. It stopped after about two years gluten free. I did not eliminate dairy, just dairy light for a short period of time.

I thought that Prilosec OTC was ok, but don't see it on the list? Thanks.
I'm sure that not all gluten free meds are on this list. But, yes, Prilosec OTC and generic Omeprazole are gluten free.

Is Tylenol and Motrin safe?
This might be helpful. This list is updated very frequently.

Well, simply put, no. Temps above 500 would render a burnt pizza and a smoky kitchen. The "vaporized" gluten, along with every other organic substance in the pizza is turned into carbon dioxide as it burns. So, no more gluten and no more pizza.
p.s. recondensing the pizza, less the gluten, into a liquid isn't an option.

You will probably get some rapid relief by taking the Indian spice turmeric. It's inexpensive and you can usually find it fairly freshly ground at your local health food store. Besides being an immune system enhancer it is also is good for some of the worst toxin producing enteric bacteria like some strains of E. Coli. It works because those bacteria can't grow when turmeric is present. You can add teaspoon - tablespoon amounts to your food or take it in capsules which you can buy. It may stain dentures so some people prefer the capsules. Golden Milk - turmeric with gluten free 'milk' and a sweetener like honey makes a nice drink. I use stevia powder.
The bacteria that produce the toxins that make you sick overgrow in your gut because it has been damaged and food does not go through you smoothly and often backs up. When it backs up these bacteia over grow the normal flora. As a result you fell awful and have a lot of gas. People take acidophilus to replace the good bacteria but milk free acidophilus is expensive. So people take probiotics which contain acidophilus and recently I discovered fresh sauerkraut which is loaded with this friendly bacteria in the health food store refrigerator. It's very acid and that helps the digestion too. I also take as many digestive enzyme capsules as I need to help digest my food.
I agree with the person who wrote you need to read a lot but it may be confusing unless you know what to look for. People recommend the CureZone website and there is The Dr. Clark Information Center online which will give you lots of information on how your body functions and how to correct problems.
Hope this helps.
People are not recommending the CureZone and Dr. Clark, at least not people from this site.

Some people accumulate a gluten free product list. I was desperate for a list in the beginning to make my life easier. But, most companies do no put out such lists. In the name of progress, ingredients change from time to time and there can be no long range verification of a gluten free product.
In the long term, it's better and down right essential to know how to read lables.

Yes, that would be me
Anxiously awaiting some replies.

Just to clarify further....Maltodextrin in the US is corn derived. If it is other it will be listed as "Maltdextrin (wheat)". In other countries it may be made of wheat and not be listed.

Hi and welcome:
Here is the Celiac Panel you should request from your doctor:
Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG
Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA
Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA
Total IgA level
You should not begin the diet until after you have been tested. As others have said, the blood test can rule Celiac in, but it can't rule it out. It would be good to be tested and if needed it can be followed up with an endoscopy/biopsy exam.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hi! okay so im new to this forum and well celiac. I have been sick since november and decided i had to tell my family around christmas because well i couldnt eat anything. I finally went to the doctors who took samples of my stool, that turned out negitive then my pee sample turned out negitive. Then came the blood tests. (im needle phobic really bad.) Long story short my levels are really high for celiac. I have an endoscopy on the 26th and am scared beyond belief. I ended up in the ER last weekend because i became dehydrated. (randomly started throwing up- but had no virus) so that was a trip. I am suppose to see a nutricience. But I am a vegatarian and do not like beans, or soy (soy doesnt react well with my body) I am getting so sick, and sicker by the day. I have to eat gluten until the endoscopy. The doctor also said I may be lactose intolerant. So what does that leave me with? lettace without salad dressing? I was so good at hiding me being sick during nov, and mostly december, but i started getting worried. Any advice? coping? Im 20, so ive been eating pasta and pizza my ENTIRE life, and in all honesty i dont think I will be able to live without cheating and eating gluten!
HELPPPPPP MEE PLEASE
HELLO And Welcome:
OK, so you've been outed - no more hiding
Until you have your endoscopy on the 26, learn as much as you can from this forum.
You will need to eat a balance diet which will include some meats, seafood, rice, potatoes, fresh veggies and fresh fruit. In the beginning you will need to eat simply. Yes, it is often recommended to go dairy light in the beginning and you can reintroduce it later after some healing has happended.
When you shop, you will be looking for wheat, barley, malt, and some oats. Here is a list of companies who will clearly list all forms of gluten:

If you want to feel better, the gluten free diet is the only way to get there. You're young and you have lots of living to do. Take this time to learn as much as you can. Check our the Products section of this site.
We have all been where you are and it will get easier as the days go by and we are all here to help.

It may or may not be gluten free. It also could have been cooked in a fryer that cooks other glutenny items.

I totally agree!!! But I think most of the e-mails are comming from third world countries. I have several from Kenya. AND I NEVER OPEN THEM UP.
Don't you wonder how they got you e-mail in the first place. It's driving me crazy wondering.

They are Regular Size Cadbury Creme Eggs made for the USA by Hersheys
See pics

Thank you for posting this information. This is another reason to always read the labels.

Cadbury cream eggs now contain wheat in the USA. My boyfriend found this out after taking a bite of one. He was so used to eating them back home (NZ) and they used to be safe in the USA as well. They are made by Hershey's here in the USA. I have already emailed them complaining-please do the same if you have the time.
What were the ingredients? Other than your boyfriend getting sick from one bite, what do you base this information on?

Oh, I forgot to include in my "book" about rice crispy treats. Erwhon crispy rice tastes just like Kellogg's version and is gluten free. My son loves them. For an added treat drizzle them with melted milk chocolate (I use Nestle's milk chocolate chips). And Lame Advertisement has them for less than 1/2 the price of our natural foods store and if you buy over $25 (which we easily do with a case of crispy rice and a case of spaghetti) you get free shipping.
General Mills Mickey Mouse Club and Little Einsteins are both gluten free and mainstream (read economical
). My son has been bugging me to try the Mickey for rice crispy treats and the Einsteins taste almost like Fruit Loops.
Oh, and Danna Korn's book "Kids with Celiac Disease: A Family Guide to Raising Happy, Healthy, Gluten-Free Children" is an excellent first book to read. I didn't get it until about a month after diagnosis and I wished I would have bought it on day 1. It helps relieve so many anxieties and helps you realize this isn't a bad thing - and her son's intro is a wonderful look at how a kid views have Celiac.
Good luck!!
"Lame Advertisement has them for less than 1/2 the price ..." I believe that would be A.M.A.Z.O.N.com (it's our site safeguard
)
