Holy Cow!!! It's about time you showed up. We were all worried when you left us with some unsettling news. Now fuss is over.
I am not sure, but scraping the bone so that it would be smooth to that is could fuse together and mend itself.
Lister, there is medical finances available for those who are not able to pay.
I know we have medical insurance peep out there.
You need an MRI dude, or atleast xrays. I'm glad you're back. Maybe you can fill us in on what's going on later.
Lisa
PS: glad everything was negative. But, not to lecture, use precaution next time.

They are being pulled off the market today as of the 5 o'clock news. You're on top of things.

I have been gluten free since August 06 and seemed to slowly improve. Arriving to the point that I felt good, things started to bother me again.
I have gone dairy light and it seems to be better. I don't drink milk, but do have some yogurt and a little ice cream. I do get some very loose poop, but no other sympstoms like the nasty gluten symptoms.
I can do without the rest, but butter is my staple on top of a baked potato. I do use smart balance when I am cooking an adjusted to olive oil for every day, non-exotic dinners. That seems to work for me.
I do think this is very common among us.

Yes, it is gluten free.

I had some yesterday and the usual 24 hours later BAM!
Cross and Blackwell are owned by Smuckers. I call and they cannot guarantee gluten free, but will list wheat, duh. It did list worcestershire sauce on the label, and I think it doubtful that the brand they used would be Lea and Perrins.
Aside from any one with a gluten free confirmation, I would consider it NOT.
Just thought I'd pass it along.

I would simply say "for personal reasons"....no explaination needed.

Lisa,
Somehow I missed this thread. Just read it and laughed out loud.
We only fuss because we love you...but happy we didn't have to fuss! I'm just happy you figured it out. Are you still taking probiotics?
xoxo
ahhh, no
And down and out tonight. I couldn't make it home from a 1/2 hour drive without stopping twice.
Gluten free is easy compared to dairy free. Sometimes, well, lots of times, I feel that I just don't have the energy to go dairy free. I poured my heart and soul into learning about gluten free. I just don't know if I can duplicate the diligence, again!
I do appreciate all the suggestions as posted above. I have been unsuccessful finding anything other than coconut milk in my town or surrounding areas.

Doc suggeste 7yold son has some degree of celiac disease. That was last Fri. I have been working hard to keep him gluten free. I called today to ask her to order the panel of blood test and her nurse called me back to refer me to an allergist.
We did that at age 1 and it was the prick test. came back milk and egg allergic. Now they want to do the prick test again, but I have not read any posts about this test to determine celiac disease. I called my ped. back, but she had already left for the day. I left a message so we'll see if she will order the tests.
I really don't want to put him through the prick tests again if its as easy as one blood draw. He does fine having it drawn.
Just venting-anyone have any advice?
Heather
Hey Heather,
Your doctors suggestion that you son has "some degree of celiac", is evidence that she has no clue. How did she come to that conclusion. There is no "some degree of celiac", you have it or you do not. The only ways to determine the amount of damage done by celiac is to do an endoscopy exam to see visually and take biopsy samples. What TEST would draw her to that conclusion?
Depending on the length of time that your son has been off gluten would cause concern regarding the accuracy of the blood panel test for celiac.
I am not knowledgeable about the prick test, but it may just show and allergy or sensitivity to wheat. It will not diagnose celiac.
I am sorry, but I think that you doctor is brushing you off. I would suggest a GI doctor.
I don't blame you for venting.

Dove products are generally gluten free. Not into the gels and mouse, so I can't advise.
Do a search here on shampoos, there is a great data base of previously ask questions.

is it bad? i'm going on friday and the thought of a tube being sent down my throat is stressing me out.
amy
Naw...the worst part is the worry. I would do it again in a minute without concern.
In my experience, they gave me an IV and I was out cold. I woke up, with seemed to be seconds and I was in the recovery room. The doctor came in to talk to both of us (me and hubby), and I have no recollection of the conversation. I had a bit of a sore throut, but no other issues.
The odd part was, the doctor saw visable signs of blunting, so in recovery they offered me juice and crackers- gluten crackers.
My father always said "the expectation is always greater than the realization". In this case it is true.
Make sure that you take someone with you, so they can take notes as to what the doctor says. I asked my husband about 20 times what he said.
Went home and slept for the remainer of the day.
Amy, it is nothing to worrry about.

Last time we heard from him, he was concerned because his girlfriend was diagnosed with HIV. That was the last we heard from him. For those that don't know, he is a young man on his own and struggling with celiac and other issues.
I think about him often. I sure wish that he would return and post.

I just re-read your previous posts about your son.
He, being eight years old, and me being in my early 50's most likely will improve faster that an adult. I would assume that being on the restricted diet, that you should seem improvements soon. He has total villi blunting and that may take some time. Once the villi heal, you should see his other symptoms inprove as well.
It took me about six months to gain control. And I am no sure that I will every return to be 100%.
I hope you see improvement soon.

Ryan,
I am so sorry that Alex is having such a hard time. It sounds like the hospital is the place she needs to be.
Bringing something from home, like the soup, is a good idea. Could be be there during meal time to make sure every thing is fine?
Alex is very lucky to have someone as devoted as you. I hope the improves soon.

Speaking of movies......how about a subscription to Netflix. You order one, return it and pick out another one.

Sounds like a shallot to me
But whatever--the recipe sounds delicious!
Okay, okay - tail between my legs. I stand corrected.

Sounds delicious, but, um, scallions ARE green onions:
"what's the difference between scallions and green onions?
Scallions and green onions generally refer to exactly the same vegetable. They

As far as BBQ sauce goes, All of the Sweet Baby Ray's varieties are and they are very good. It is my fav and I would still eat it even if I could eat gluten.
Not to hyjack here, but....
I used to make my own BBQ sauce, but Sweet Baby Ray's is the best I have ever had.
Try..
Boneless Chic Thighs, add one can of Swansons Chic Broth, cover chicken with scallions (not green onions) and drizzel SBR's over chicken and onions. Cover for 20min, uncover for 20min, or until done.
It is so darn good, with rice and steamed veggies.

Broncobux lives in Vegas and knows where everything is. Try sending him a PM. He is very helpful.

Six days is a relatively short time to feel a change. It took a long time for the damage to be done, so too, it will take some time to heal.
It took me about six months to learn the diet, make sure that there were no mistakes and to learn to read labels. At that point, I started to feel better. It took the Brain Fog about a year and a half to subside and still not 100%.
I would recommend that you stick to simple foods for the time being. Meats, Seafood, Rice, Potatoes, Steamed Veggies and Fruits. Stay about from processed foods for a while.
Don't forget to check you cosmetics, lipsticks, lotions, shampoos....anything that can get into your mouth.
I am sure you will feel better soon. We've all been there.

Happy Birthday.

Hi. I was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease one week ago. Although my blood tests were normal, my biopsy confirmed Celiac Sprue.
Does anyone know much about cross contamination? My doctor gave me information on the Disease and I have done some internet research, but I didn't really take the subject of cross contamination serious until yesterday.
Since being diagnosed a week ago, I have stuck to a fresh fruit, meat and dairy diet. I haven't really looked for gluten free substitues because I want to get used to life without gluten. Anyways, since starting the diet, I have felt fabulous. This is significant because I have been sick with nausea and vomitting episodes since December. I have been feeling great until last night. I cooked pasta for my boyfriend and stir-fry for myself. Although I tried diligently to keep the food separated, I used the same spoon to stir the boiling pasta and my stir-fry.
Can contact with starchy water be considered cross contamination?
Absolutely!!!
