Hello and welcome to our world.
Since you have had a endo that screamed Celiac and you have had a positive dietary response...my bet is that you have your answer.
I would suggest that you read as much as you can from this board. There are some very dedicated people, informed and very generous in their knowledge with their willingness to share.
Gluten is a tricky monkey to find, because it's every where. Please check you lipsticks, lotions, shampoos or any meds that you might be taking. Anything that can get into your mouth can be subject.
Again, welcome and please feel free to ask. All questions will be answered.

Please excuse my stupidity!!!! It's called lactose, lactose, lactose. Several weeks ago, I tried to double up on the yogurt to get a little more calcium and I had a slight issue. I stopped the yogurt and all better. Laura, don't fuss at me. Lesson learned.
Someone, please knock me in the head. I guess I subscribe to the "Jerry School of Denial"... trial and error and error and error.

Thanks Angie:
I have had the grilled veggies in the past with no issue although it may be a CC issue. This is a pretty heafty reaction, like pre-gluten free.
Ingredience on the bottle appear gluten free, other than sillica and I don't know what that is.

Do you take pro-biotics and how did you first react by taking them. I started two days ago and I have quite the arguement going on inside. They indicate that they are gluten free, but I definately have a gluten- like reaction.
It's one of two thing, the probiotics or yesterdays lunch.( salad with grilled veggie and Newmans Dressing - the grilled veggies is a possibility)
Any insight on pro-biotics.
Thanks, Lisa

I bought some Bausch & Lamb eye drops (environmental) for dry eyes. When I contacted them to see if they're gluten free, they said they were gluten free and free of wheat, rye and barley. But there was no mention of oats. Does anyone know if they are ok to use?
I don't think that oat should be an issue here.

This is a very COMMON topic here and it generates no surprise other than an occasional...."Oh Yeah, that's me".
Fatty stools float with perhaps some skim on the water. Your body is not able at the time to absorb fat and it is released and it just takes the direct route.
To make you feel more comfortable, there is not one amongst us that does not turn around a look.
The bottom (pun) line is if it sinks, it's a good day and if it floats, more time or diligence is required.

I would like to ask is any one has had an issue with Stewarts Drinks....Cream Soda is a wonderful childhood memory for me. They are not listed on Delfi.

I've really missed brown gravy, well i finally found a great one!
Glutino brown graxy mix
I have heard of it and only wish that it were available here.

Your parents doctor is very ill informed and there are many here that will attest to that.

According to the Delphi Gluten Free Product List - 2006:
All are gluten free -
Diet Rite - all
Dr. Pepper - all
V-8 - all (including splash)
Lipton Teas - all
Ocean Spray - all
Snapple - all
Tropicana 100% Juice - all
Hope this is a start.

I'm alittle confused with what soft drinks are gluten free. I was under the impression all soft drinks with carmel coloring (dark colored drinks) are NOT gluten free and should be avoided but I've seen some discussions of some Celiacs drinking Cokes and Dr. Peppers. Does anyone know for sure if they are safe?
Coke and Pepsi are gluten free, as well as diet coke and pepsi. There are some people who react to the carmel coloring, but it is not gluten related. I am not a coffee drinker and a good cold pepsi in the morning is a must for me.

OK...Lisa's Theory:
Perhaps it is not the musty smell that gives you relief, but the moisture that generates the odor.
The basement floor would be more humid and cooler than the upper floors by holding moisture in the walls and floor. Your relief by the musty odor is an associative effect of the humidity.
Much like holding a cool damp cloth to your brow when you have a headache.
(anxiously
awaiting Steve to knock the heck out of my theory) I thought it could make sense.

Autumn, you need only take chlorella and spirulina. Find them at your health food store and make sure they are gluten free. Most are. They are algae. They are loaded with b12 and protein. Makes it all so simple.
I have an issue with recommending certain supplements without medical impute. You never know what shoes someone is walking in. You don't know what interation may cause a problem. To make a certain recommendation is not responsible.
We are not doctors. We are here to support those that ask about Celiac.

Nama:
I am sorry about your diagnosis. Perhaps you could tell us as to how your doctor came to that conclusion.
Yes, there is a connection between MS and Celiac. Most of us have intestinal damage because of celiac, but it also can creep into other organs and settle in. I think that MS may knock on my door in my future years. It is in my family.
This is my reason to be gluten free as best of my ability.
Since you have been gluten free for some time, you're on your road to a healthy lifestyle. Keep it up and I am sure that you will have good quality of life.
I would not drastically change your diet, but eat well, health and fresh as best as you are able.
Keep us posted.

Ok, this may sound like bragging and maybe I am, but I feel great.
It's been a month now that I've been 99% gluten-free, except for the late evening cookies and
the accidental glutening on the cruise ship.
I feel really good.
-I'm no longer bloated and going to the bathroom 8 times per day.
-I can go on a nice long 6 mile run and not worry about it.
-I have a ton of energy, especially for almost being 47
-I'm in a much better mood...the difference between night and day. I basically feel
quite happy to be alive, which is..you know...better than I've felt in about 6 years.
-My chronic heartburn has lessened substantially, I still get it, but it's not killing me anymore.

WELL DUH!!!!! Now go get that hard-headed brother of yours. Hard-headedness is definately a genetic link.
Glad that you're feeling well Jerry.

Suzie:
I don't know if this will work:
Plain pasta sauce and cut it with some chicken broth, add a little milk or cream (don't boil after the milk). This might lighten up the flavor for you children.

Hi, we have a Boston Market in our local Stop and Shop..has anyone ever eaten their food? whats gluten-free? Did you get sick?
theres are some nights [like tonight] I'm not feeling great and too tired to cook, it would be great to be able to grab some pre-cooked food to bring home.
Betty,
I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that they have a website, perhaps with a list of gluten free items.
(from the back of my mind and a long time ago....)

I am truly sorry for your years of misery. With you symptoms, gluten sounds like the likely culprit, with the confirmation from eliminating it from your diet.
I would expect, with a strick gluten free diet you symptons will gradually subside.
Remember, you have had 17 years of damage to your intestines and it will take some time for the healing. It took me almost a year to feel like my old self.
Try reading as much as you can from these good people. You can't find a better source for Celiac information.
Welcome to the Board, you have come to the right place.

Nanzie:
I have two and they are on my avatar. They are 22 and 25. The 25, we are still subsidizing after 100,000 in college funds (apartment, utilities, food, clothes, books and A LOT of check fees and a whole lot of parking tickets at school, towing fees because she was OUT OF GAS....I can continue)
Our 22, was married with a 20,000 wedding, is on her own, saving money to build a house and in no financial need of us, other than her part-time college and she should graduate in December (with honors, may I brag)
With this said...We did not for see our financial situation. My husband was mandated to retire the same year that the 25 year old graduated from high school. So, cut the salary in 1/2, spend 100,000 and shake that kid silly. Two years later our annuity was abolished by the courts (kinda, really, sucks).
Okay, I will stop. Children are a blessing. My advise to you would be, look forward and choose wisely. It, afterall, is a very personal choice. I would not have changed a thing, but these little suckers are expensive.
Whatever you choose, may it be a happy one.

The little darlings are 22 and 18...time to move out and save the gluten-free food for DAD:)
22 and 18.....my oh my, you must have been a very bad ten year old.

Thanks Laura and Tarnelberry...it is clearer. This is tough stuff to understand.

If it were me, I would buy myself a $10.00 toaster for myself - the risk is way too much.

A first time post and you give us a treat. Thanks and welcome.

I did, but I find that Tinkyada is as good as the real thing! I make it for my whole family, not just the gluten-free ones. It actually holds up better in recipes than regular pasta.
I think this is very strange. I never liked beer, pasta or breads (except for a few that had cheese and olives and other stuff). Eating pasta was like eating glue = flour and water
Another reason to listen to our bodies.
Intolerance Or Allergy?
in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Posted
Emily:
This may sound very sophomoric, but I have always heard that an allergy can create the same symptoms, but not cause the villi damage. And an intolerance will kick off the autoimmune reaction that will cause the villi damage.
