    Here are a few"

    Seagrams - 7

    Absolute Vodkas - unflavored

    Captian Morgans

    Rums

    Sherry

    Smirnoffs

    Makers Mark

    There are others as well.

All cokes, pepsis, ginger ailes, tonics, sodas and 7-up are gluten free

My preference is Seagrams-7 and 7-up with a slice of orange.

    Enjoy

  2. Maybe it's due to our lack of endowment for tassel-twirling abilities. I am, of course, only speaking for myself and Susie Q. :P

    Those videos ARE classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Mommagoose I see you!

I am currently watching the rest of Snakes on a Plane without hubby.....OMG...so dumb but there is one redeeming scene where the effeminate male flight attendant puts one of the snakes in the microwave and says "Who's your bi-ach now?"

Otherwise...useless! the snakes are SO fake.

    ;)B)

  3. They are not gluten free.

After they made the statement they got blasted and put out notice that they can not guarantee that they are.

Just a side note here. The New Yorker who was quoted, is OUR Jillian :D

I have been able to eat McD's fries up until now. With in 24 hours of eating them a few days ago, I had a strong gluten reaction.

After being gluten free for some time, I believe you react to the smalled amount of gluten, where as initially, I did not react.

  4. I've used the plain gelatin (Knoxx) before, and it works just fine. Just follow the instructions. (Assuming you're not trying to find a vegan jello - then go the agar agar route.)

Thank you tarnalberry for that generic answer. I thought you were doing to tell us that gelatin was derived from the the inner thigh fat of a mandarin ox during mating season every other year.

With humor, I sent this. :P I hope you find it as such. ;)

  5. I was a bit bored this afternoon, after having gastroscopy yesterday, and not feeling too great, so I am taking it easy today, and have been trying to tidy up my computer, and going into this forum now and then.

Love this forum, but I now and again check out the star ratings, don't know why, as I don't even donate stars to anyone except for once. But when I went to check this afternoon, it appears that they have all gone from everybody's personal details. Not a bad thing, because I always thought some people who had no stars should have them, and I was always wondering who gave me my ratings. Just thought you would like to know.

    Cathy

Oh yea , Cathy, the stars are gone. Go figger.

  6. I am a vegetarian, so, I don't eat Jell-O because the gelatin is made from animals. So, I just did a vegan search for Jell-O recipes and found this one:

    Open Original Shared Link

    vegetarian jello

4 tablespoons agar agar flakes (kanten)

    1 quart fruit juice

bring to a boil, simmer for 5 minutes.

Pour into a dish, add fruits if you like.

    Chill

    Dare I ask? :(

  7. Hi,

My daughter can not have any dye and I want her to be able to have more treats. So I was trying to find recipes to make your own jello and have had no luck. If anyone has any suggestions or information it would be a blessing!

    Thanks,

    Amy

I would think that Knox Original Gelatine, unflavored and substitute the water with fruit juce of your choice would make a good jello mix.

I would think that would work. :)

  8. :) Good one.

I'd like to know WHY these two symptoms occur...I'm really curious. If anyone out there is savvy, lay it on us. Tx j B)

    Jerry:

This is long ago learned information for me, I believe this is correct, but during periods of malabsorption, the body is starving and going after what ever it can to feed itself. I goes after the fat and muscle.

Hence, SOME of us have very thin extremities, Biafra Belly (dated reference - kids in Africa who are starving and have those big bellies) and flat A$$.

PS. What a waste to wait 11 years to get the padding back and a good looking butt back, at 63, who will care :P

  9. Sherry is gluten free. I use it in fondue and my chx tettrazini.

I saw your post about it....you know I would've said something if there was any question about it :).

However, I use Progresso "Creamy Mushroom" soup...I know that is gluten free. Is their "Cream of Mushroom" soup gluten free as well?

You are right..... no worries, my dear!

    L

The can says "Creamy Mushroom", this is gluten free as you know. I think Progresso only has one creamy soup mushroom soup????

    Brain fog alert

  10. Hey girl,

    I second Lisa's suggestion.

There is also a recent book about places that are friendly to gluten free eaters, or places that people have eaten at successfully, and ideas for what to order there. I can't think of the name of it for the life of me. I don't really eat out much, so I can't be of so much help, but I know others have found this book helpful. I would think the combination of the cards and this book would be good.

The other option is to do a search on the board for new york city. There are a good number of board members from NYC that might know of specific places that might be good choices. board member 'jkmunchkin' is a fellow nyc'er and she eats out pretty well.

    Laura:

That would be me. Again, Triumph also has "The Essential Gluten-Free Restaurant Guide" 2006-07 edition. I would think that it would be invaluable to those newbies in large cities.

It lists celiac friendly restaurants including those with a gluten free menus, listed by state. It also lists well know restaurants with gluten free menu options.

I am tickled to have both the dining card as well as the Restaurant Guide.

Note: I have no association with Triumph, just the proud recipient of their products.

You can reach them by www.triumphdining.com.

  11. I hope that I did not make a mistake. I just recommeded that cream sherry is wonderful in Progresso Cream of Mushroom soup. I am very concerned and try to be very careful to recommend products that I know for certain are safe.

But then, I started thinking. I believe Taylors Cream Sherry is wine based. Now I am not certain.

Can anyone verify if Sherry is gluten free. I would hate to have someone get sick from my recommendations.

Help  , it's also in my beef stew this evening.
