  1. Apparently, I missed somethings on the recent posts, but don't feel that I need to spend too much time there.

I wanted to make a point, that this board if for all, who have been efflicted by Celiac. It is for support of the old ones (I'm getting close) and the newbies as well.

Celiac DOES not end with a diognosis, or a diet change. With hope it will be secured for further damage.

Is there hope here for me as the diognosis continues to morf into other issues, that as others have gone before me, could offer support.

Hey, as I continue through this avenue of my life, I am open to suggestions and I can choose them or loose them. I am a smart person. I can do my own research and I can make my own judgments and I can also ask qualified people as I choose are qualified. My life is in my hands and my hand alone.

(disclaimer: I browsed through alot of recent post, which were enough for me to make the precededing comments. If I am on the wrong road on this thread, I appoligize. But I read enough that I thought it important that I should post my thoughts, which are directed to no one in particular, I don't even remember names, nor the source of comment.)

  2. I don't do alot of baking and therefore don't have but little on hand. As I have one pkg of all purpose gluten-free flour, I pks of gluten-free breadcrumbs, and true cornmeal. I put those in zips and keep them in the pantry or in the freezer when it's not full of summer creamed corn or just made brunswick stew.

I just use the flours for graveys and thickening, when I don't use corn starch. gluten-free breadcrumbs are for hamburgers and such and cornmeal is for frying fish and cornbread. My sorry expansion. But, it is what it is.

Hope this helps Turtle. (how, ya doing)

  3. Open Original Shared Link is a good site to help decrypt those alphabet-soup-tests.

thank you SO much. I just spent hours on that site. It is definately a b-12 issue and folate.

But I can't figure out the SGOT test.....guess I have to wait until tuesday.

I learned that a low platlelet count can result in bruising. I know alot of you out there bump around and get bruses.

Thanks for hooking me up, it was more than helpful.

  6. Scott:

I have been hanging around here for over a year. I can not tell you the scope of the help that I have gotten from this site that you have created. I praise you for your effort, and as well, I hope that it has been productive for you. When lost in a world that no one understands, I find peace here and a comfort that can not be found elsewhere. I truely believe that, with the creation of this site, you may have save many lives.

    Many cheers to you.

With that said. I would like to ask, "what was the motivation in creating this forum, that many of us are so dependent on for information".

Would you kindly tell us a little about "you"? :)

  7. I do use Dove shampoo. If you search on this site you can get a better defined anwser, with confirmation.

The Gluten Free Product List is sparse for 2006, but it was gluten-free for 2004. Companies often change their ingred. to "improve" their products Let me see if they have a website as I have some at home.

    www.dove.com..........or 1-800-761-3683

There ya go. If you get a reponse, please post so that others can know.

    Hope this was helpful.

  8. With the new labeling laws only Wheat will be listed........rye, barley, malt is not required.

So if a product is wheat free, it may not be gluten free.

On this site on the "front page", there is a safe, and forgidden list. That may be helpful to you.

Kraft, Hormel are good "listing" companies.

Sorry this is so brief, but got to go. Others will be here soon.

Welcome to Celiacland and some very helpful peops.

  9. Very true...

My personal feeling on all of this--I'm hoping that what others have stated is true, that these things tend to be cyclical. Since this is the first on-line group I've ever been a part of, I'll take their word for it. It's probably a lot like real life with ups and downs :D

This board was so helpful to me in the beginning--at first I was just happy to be getting information on how to live with this disease day to day. Then, I found that I was actually becoming part of this wonderful community. I've made friends here who are as dear to me as any I have in the "real world".

I try to balance my "socializing" with being as much help as I can to the newer members. I volunteered to be a moderator because I was spending so much time here that I thought I may as well make myself useful

I choose to stay and do whatever small things I can to try and keep this the best Celiac resource on the net--or anywhere, for that matter ;) If all of the people who truly care about the site leave in protest, what are we then left with?

This board was here when I needed it, and I won't forget it :)

I could have not said it better, Patti. :) Ditto for me.

Having no where else to turn, I turned here. I really do not think that I could have successfully dealt with Celiac Disease without the dedicated, caring people here. I have a debt to pay here.....

    Lisa

oops, Patti....don't know how that happened. Lisa

  10. Chelsea: Oh know, this is forbidden. You can't fink out on us now. You were one of my first contacts.

You have sooooo much to offer. Just think about when you were first DX, and where did you go? There are 10'sx10's everyday that wake up and asked themselves "what is wrong with me"? Walk away from the chat room, but don't walk away from the people who can learn from your Knowledge.

We are a small few. Please continue to share you knowledge. There are some lives that depend on that knowlege.

    Lisa :)
